FOUR graveside flags for 2 Vets, they went up tonight PIX

X post from GD.

My post Saturday: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10027929723

Today was the first day in 2 weeks the temps were not in the 90's. It was a pleasant 83 degrees when Marta and I drove over after dinner.

The flags are MADE in the USA. We could not replace the worn 3 x 5 flag on the cemetery pole. It is going to be more involved than we were prepared for. The nut and bolt are seized up by weather. So is the pin you have to pull out to lower the pole. And the flag is attached by radiator hose clamps that will need to be replaced.

Even when the cemetery was maintained well, the two Veterans had no flags.

"In memory of MM1C Vernon Palmer Wall.

Son of Henry O. – Edna N. Wall.

September 11, 1922 – October 7, 1944.

Lost at sea in the Pacific with submarine Seawolf."

The story of how MM1C Vernon Palmer Wall was killed by friendly fire: http://graveyardsofomaha.com/submarine/submarinel_main.html

Memorial Day 2016 you can barely see the top of the memorial because of the weeds.

Saturday June 18th, mowed but no grave flags.

MM1C Vernon Palmer Wall

Joseph Wall is the cousin of Vernon, and son of Dr. William Wall and his wife Allie, and Joseph also served in WWII. Believed to be the last person buried in Wall Cemetery.

The view for those that drive by.

Happy 41st wedding anniversary Steve & Marta

Time flies when your having fun. They gave us 6 months.

For our gifts we picked out jewelry like we do every year at the renaissance festival a few weeks ago.

We think so much alike. By coincidence we picked out the same card for each other. Two cheetah's in an embrace similar to the photo below.

We celebrated with dinner out Friday night.
