About the gunboats "Seized" by the Iranians...

First of all I was curious about the boats themselves. Info here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CB90-class_fast_assault_craft

On the incident I'll say this-we are damn lucky the Iranians are being nice. Our government isn't even denying we were in their waters. We've given two explanations:
1. One boat lost power and they drifted into Iranian waters...except there were 2 boats and 10 crewman with expertise in small boat handling, which includes taking another craft under tow.

2.Both lost contact with the navy and then one or both lost their navigation systems and they strayed into Iranian waters. Except if you lost radios and navigation on both boats while approaching restricted areas why would you not reverse course and head home by dead reckoning???

The true explanation is obvious-we were probing and we were caught. The Iranians could have played either nice guy or not-so-nice guy and we got lucky. The real question is how far up the chain of command this action was approved.

New Hampshire is the only state Sanders will win...

and that's because he is so well known there. That's what the media and DNC was telling us.

Now I live in New Hampshire and Bernie is damn straight going to win here. And it isn't any favorite son thing because as anyone who lives here or in Vermont can tell you our two states don't cotton to each other. Vermont refers to New Hampshire as "the upside down state" (look at a map) and we refer to them as the "People's Republic of Vermont"...The reason he's going to win here is we know both Clinton and Sanders well and have compared the two.

The place other than here where Bernie has done the most to introduce himself is Iowa and now everyone is beginning to realize we are nearly at a toss-up. With media coverage people compare the two and choose Bernie. And you can expect the pattern to both continue and increase each and every time he wins a state or EVEN MAKES IT CLOSE.

For nine months inevitability was shoved down the throats of American Democrats and a bunch of them have had a belly full. If the campaign can demonstrate that Sanders can win both some primaries and the general it's going to be game over. It will quickly become clear that the media and the DNC colluded to reduce Sanders exposure and that will motivate another percentage of Democrats who hate a thumb on the scale.

It ain't 2008 and Sanders is not Obama-he's the new face of the Democratic party or their last chance thrown away. I know how I'm voting.

I'm going to put this in GD and it may be locked

Because I'm going to say a few things about guns that aren't normally allowed in this forum and I'll plead they belong here because of the President's recent speech on gun control.

First of all we need to limit the production of guns in this country. In a past portion of my life I drove trucks in Connecticut that picked up metal scrap in the Winchester and Mossberg plants. Now any well made firearm will function properly for several hundred years. Being in those plants and observing that multiple tractor trailer loads of guns were shipped 5 or more days a week made it obvious that too many guns are being produced. If you are shot with a weapon produced for the civil war reduces nothing in terms of results.

Now that the gunners hate me-I've just bought a handgun and a rifle. I traded away my last firearm in 1973-after the service I returned to Connecticut and I wanted a motorcycle which was something more useful than guns.

Fast Forward 40 years and change. I find myself only a short distance away from losing my house. I'm by myself now and am structuring this-next fall someone else will get my home and I will be RVing full time. I will be a 63 year old handicapped white guy living as a gypsy. And that means as a target. My Winnebago will be perceived as a rolling ATM by people in better shape than me.

The fact is I didn't want to be here. Before buying the weapons I bought I biometric safe for the camper and can get to my firearms in under 5 seconds. I guess in a really scary place I can lay them out near me. The other fact is that I will be in places that can be scary.

I wish very much we lived in unicorn world where things are happy. But instead we live in "Florida Man" world and I will be in places not as secure as the home I will be leaving.

Now tell me why I should do what I am planning without a gun.

My hometown loon heads for the standoff...

Hero of the Bundy Ranch fiasco, draw Muhammed plotter, and constitutional sheriff candidate joins the Trump campaign and heads for Oregon....

This guy will never rest until he makes headline news. And he's crazy enough to do just that...

Bill Clinton In Exeter NH tonight...

...probably debriefing Betty and Barney Hill for Hillary...

January 4, 2016

Do you want to know why the loons are in Oregon?

Quite simply because the Bundy bullshit had zero consequences. One of the militia "Commanders" from the ranch lives in my hometown. Do you want to know what he did last summer when he should have been hiding from the law??? He was printing up yard signs and running for "Constitutional Sheriff".

These guys are armed lunatics who will continue to push until they either collapse the Federal government (not likely), Kill someone (increasingly likely), or are treated by the legal system as the domestic terrorists they are. I know which I vote for.

Try that on... "or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States"

Another look at the Militia...

From the blog "It ain't Hell (but you can see it from here)"

Disclaimer-this is a site for military vets who expose "stolen valor" phonies. Much of the politics are right wing and much of the language-especially the comments-are profane.

"Ryan Payne, one of the leaders from the Bundy stand-off who claimed that he was a Ranger is there. Payne was not a Ranger by any measure of the word, but, I guess militia folks don’t care about veracity."

"Also, Blaine Cooper, the fellow who ditched his Delayed Entry Program enlistment for the Marine Corps is there. He couldn’t find the time to honor his enlistment in the Marines, but he sure can find the money to wear all of the military finery;"

"I can’t shake the feeling that these protests are nothing more than an opportunity for these folks to wear their Ranger Joe purchases in public and to strut around openly carrying their firearms."

No press and no more manifestos...

That's the most important thing for this militia fiasco. One government spokesman speaks every 24 hours-he says either "No Change" or "X number have surrendered today, I have no further information.". No outside communications for those who surrender-they are terrorists. No press within 10 miles. All communications at the scene jammed.

The "Iowa Starting Line" Awards sound real impressive...

Until you find out they are "awarded" by a single guy with a year old blog who was a Clinton staffer in the 2008 campaign. I'd be embarrassed to base an OP lauding my candidate for weak deceptive shit like that.
