Paul Manafort, Rick Gates to remain on house arrest with movements tracked by GPS, judge orders

Source: USA Today

WASHINGTON Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and his associate Rick Gates will remain under house arrest and their movements will be tracked by GPS devices until they offer up more bail money to assure their future appearances in court, a federal judge ordered Monday.

Federal prosecutors, who have leveled a 12-count indictment alleging a complex money laundering and tax fraud conspiracy, said they were "close" to reaching an agreement with the men's lawyers to let them out. But U.S. District Judge Amy Jackson said the terms their release would not be eased until bail packages for both men were approved by the court.

"We are not talking about dangerousness," Jackson said in a brief hearing Monday morning. "We're talking about (the risk of) flight."

But the judge said she might let them out of house arrest in a little bit.

Jackson said she was "inclined" to eventually let both Manafort and Gates out of home confinement, and was even open to allowing them to travel within the United States so they could continue their consulting work, but not overseas. "No international travel is going to be a condition of this release," she said.

Mueller Has Enough Evidence to Bring Charges in Flynn Investigation
by JULIA AINSLEY, CAROL E. LEE and KEN DILANIAN

WASHINGTON Federal investigators have gathered enough evidence to bring charges in their investigation of President Donald Trump's former national security adviser and his son as part of the probe into Russia's intervention in the 2016 election, according to multiple sources familiar with the investigation.

Michael T. Flynn, who was fired after just 24 days on the job, was one of the first Trump associates to come under scrutiny in the federal probe now led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller into possible collusion between Moscow and the Trump campaign.

Mueller is applying renewed pressure on Flynn following his indictment of Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, three sources familiar with the investigation told NBC News.

WASHINGTON — President Trump asked the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, to shut down the federal investigation into Mr. Trump’s former national security adviser, Michael T. Flynn, in an Oval Office meeting in February, according to a memo Mr. Comey wrote shortly after the meeting.

“I hope you can let this go,” the president told Mr. Comey, according to the memo.

The documentation of Mr. Trump’s request is the clearest evidence that the president has tried to directly influence the Justice Department and F.B.I. investigation into links between Mr. Trump’s associates and Russia. Late Tuesday, Representative Jason Chaffetz, the Republican chairman of the House Oversight Committee, demanded that the F.B.I. turn over all “memoranda, notes, summaries and recordings” of discussions between Mr. Trump and Mr. Comey.

When and if did Donna Brazile stop taking Russian money for her work to help cause problems?

Just asking the question.

BTW after Ohio 2004 election Brazile was on record that nothing really happened and
for someone who was in the belly of the beast in Ohio in 2004 her words still piss me
off.

Rachel Tonight: Bowe Bergdahl got no prison time in part because of Trump

The judge in the case warned Trump not to talk about the case
but Trump went ahead and talked about the case and in giving the
sentence the judge wrote and or spoke about Trump's comments
about the case as a reason that Bergdahl got no prison time.

BTW typing from memory so I hope I got this right.

Washington Post Trump: I dont remember meeting at center of Russia probe

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-i-dont-remember-meeting-at-center-of-russia-probe/2017/11/03/c806b8e0-c09d-11e7-9294-705f80164f6e_story.html?utm_term=.df0c2e5a8aec

By Associated Press November 3 at 9:49 AM
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump says he doesn’t “remember much” about a March 2016 meeting with his campaign foreign policy adviser that is now front-and-center in special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe.

Speaking to reporters outside the White House, Trump says: “It was a very unimportant meeting. It took place a long time ago. I don’t remember much about it.”

Trump’s former campaign adviser, George Papadopoulos, has pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russian officials. Papadopoulos later told agents he used that gathering to offer to arrange a meeting between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The White House argues Papadopoulos was merely a campaign “volunteer” whose claims shouldn’t be taken seriously.

******

For just being a "coffee boy" Papadopoulos really gets around. Meetings with Trump, Sessions, Carter Page,
the President of Greece, the President of Cyprus, and sitting @ a panel with GOP Senators & Congresspersons.

Could Wilbur Ross Be The Next Trump Official Targeted In The Mueller Probe?

Source: The National Memo

Special counsel Robert Mueller’s indictment against international lobbyist and Trump campaign chief Paul Manafort, and pleading by Trump campaign foreign policy aide George Papadopoulos, cast long shadows over other top Trump administration officials, starting with Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, whose previous financial deals involved the European money-laundering hub of Cyprus.

The banking sector of that small island nation in the Mediterranean appears to be a crossroads where top Trump campaign associates, such as Manafort and Papadopoulos, and senior administration officials like Commerce Secretary Ross, crossed paths and had layered financial and political dealings with Kremlin-tied Russian oligarchs.

snip

Trump’s Commerce Secretary, Wilbur Ross, was vice-chair and leading investor in the Bank of Cyprus, the island’s largest bank, which was “one of the key offshore havens for illicit Russian finance,” according to an extensive investigative report by financial journalist James Henry of DCReport.org. “Ross has been Vice Chairman of this bank and a major investor in it since 2014. His fellow bank co-chair evidently was appointed by none other than Vladimir Putin.”

snip

“Ross’ involvement in the Bank of Cyprus raises many questions about his judgment, but also about the Trump Administration’s seemingly endless direct and indirect connections with friends and associates of Vladimir Putin, who all 17 U.S. intelligence agencies say conspired to interfere in the November 2016 U.S. election on behalf of Donald Trump,” Henry continued. “Whether or not these connections involve any criminality, these are the kind of relationships that most American business people would not tolerate for 30 seconds.”
