This is the SUBMISSIONS thread for our March Photo Contest. SUBMISSIONS ONLYPlease do not comment in this thread. We have a thread dedicated to making Comments or asking questions here:

ONE Submission only per photographer, which must be the photographer's original work.
Submissions open March 8th and remain open until March 15th unless we have 30 entries prior to the 15th.
Preliminaries will run from March 16th till March 19th, and the finals will run from March 19th till March 22nd.
The theme is Winter! Whatever you think about this season: food, celebrations, sports, weather and so on! Feel free to use new photos or to dig in your archives.
We will no longer have a rule about photo size limits, but, please, be reasonable!

These four photos are experimental. I took them at the El Segundo Farmer's Market today.
I decided to use my big lens, the 100--400mm. It's heavy and I need to play more with it. These are the four best ones. Most were taken between 100 and 150mm. And of course, I was standing some distance away.

Today, I remember my dear friend Andy.
He would have been 76 today. I miss him.
We hadn't known each other very long--our friendship first bloomed in 2020, in the Photo Group.
He was newly divorced, depressed and an incredibly good photographer. We hit it off right away!
His illness and death caught me by surprise; nobody close to him had any idea how sick he was. I couldn't figure it out. His ex-wife filled me in in the aftermath of his death. Of course, she knew him and his family history much better than I did.
Talking to her was a comfort. She and I had a lot in common and it brought us together to mourn, and to remember.
I've pretty much gotten used to the fact that he's gone, although the pain still strikes--just not as often or as hard. I try to focus on the really good times we had. It helps.
Writing about him today helps so much. Thank goodness for the Bereavement Group. This is a safe place for me.

Went to an appointment today, in a new location! And there was scenery!
