A North Carolina man was charged on Friday with 18 counts of assault with a deadly weapon after he emptied his gun into a nightclub because he was kicked out for trying to put his hands inside one of the dancer’s pants.

The Gaston Gazette reported that 33-year-old Mario Chavez had been arrested early Friday after firing more than a dozen bullets into the Leather and Lace strip club.

A 24-year-old dancer who worked at the club said that Chavez had received several “VIP” private dances before the shooting occurred.

At some point, one of the dancers accused the suspect of touching her inappropriately, and he was asked to leave. According to police, Chavez had tried reach inside one of the dancer’s underwear, and had slapped her on the hip.

“He told the bouncer that he’d done apologized to me and the bouncer told him that I’d done gave him a warning and he was going to have to leave,” the dancer, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Gaston Gazette.

FORT WAYNE – An errant squirrel caused about $300,000 worth of damage to the new McMillen Community Center set to open June 7.

Parks Department officials told parks board members Thursday that on April 1, a squirrel got into the electrical system at the freshly renovated complex in McMillen Park, causing a massive power surge that fried the three new HVAC systems and damaged some parts of the boiler system.

The squirrel did not survive.

Parks Director Al Moll said the damage will be covered by insurance, minus the department’s $50,000 deductible.

NEW YORK (AP) — Authorities say a man arriving at John F. Kennedy International Airport attempted to bring in more than seven pounds of cocaine — hidden in frozen food.

Customs and Border Protection stopped the man last month, after he had come into the country on a flight from Trinidad.

While inspecting his luggage, officials found three packages of frozen meat. They also found white powder in the meat that they say tested positive for cocaine.

It's not every day you see a brand new, high performance sports car sitting at the bottom of a swimming pool, but that's exactly what drew a crowd in northwest Harris County.

Investigators say the driver of a 2014 Chevy Camaro ZL1 was driving too fast and lost control on the 12000 block of Innsbruk Court near Bammel North Houston and Champion Forest Drive, went through a fence, and into a community pool.

"Whoa. That's kind of crazy," said neighborhood resident Kelvin Dorsey. "Imagine if I have my child and my baby's mother walking past here and that was to happen and I was to get hit."

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A 19-year-old student was arrested Sunday morning after police say he used a flower pot to break into a South Bend business, and ate a variety of foods, including Hot Pockets and macaroni and cheese.

Brian McCurren was arrested for burglary, vandalism and minor consumption after he caused thousands of dollars worth of damage to Therapeutic Indulgence. McCurren, of Mainsville, Ohio, is reported to be a Notre Dame student.

Late Saturday evening or early Sunday morning, McCurren appears to have attempted to force entry into the day spa through three separate entrances, causing damage to them all.

Sara Ros Frazier, owner of Therapeutic Indulgence, tells NewsCenter 16 that the suspect finally gained access by throwing a flower pot through a stained glass window and crawling through the hole.

WESTLAND, Mich. -

It was the day after St. Patrick's Day when Colleen Cudney was called in for a random breathalyzer test.

The 22-year-old was put on probation for a drunken driving conviction in 2012. After Cudney took the test at the probation office in Westland, she logged on to Facebook and counted her blessings.

Investigators say she posted this: “Buzz killer for me, I had to breathalyze (sic) this morning and I drank yesterday but I passed thank god lol my dumba@@."
