Neil Young returns to SiriusXM after pulling music from Spotify

Rock legend Neil Young is bringing his music catalogue back to SiriusXM after cutting ties with Spotify this week.

On Thursday, SiriusXM announced that “Neil Young Radio” will return to the satellite station to play the singer’s complete catalog — “from his solo albums to his work with Crosby Stills, Nash & Young to ‘Buffalo Springfield’ and ‘Crazy House,’ his latest album.”

Additionally, the service said, “listeners will also hear special programs including weekly concert broadcasts from Young’s vaults, celebrity guest DJs and a ‘Barn’ track-by-track album special featuring [Young] sharing stories about each song on his latest album,” they announced.

Young’s new album, “Barn,” was released last month with an accompanying film by the rocker’s wife, Daryl Hannah.

“I want to introduce you to some stuff that no one’s ever heard before,” Young said.

The move comes on the heels of Young giving Spotify an ultimatum: Remove the service’s superstar podcaster Joe Rogan or pull his music.

Great for XM! I will definitely be adding this channel to my presets!

Neil Young Demands Spotify Remove His Music Over 'False Information About Vaccines'

Neil Young posted a since-deleted letter to his management team and record label demanding that they remove his music from Spotify. “I am doing this because Spotify is spreading fake information about vaccines – potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them,” he wrote. “Please act on this immediately today and keep me informed of the time schedule.”

“I want you to let Spotify know immediately TODAY that I want all my music off their platform,” he continued. “They can have [Joe] Rogan or Young. Not both.” Young is referencing the steady stream of misinformation about vaccines that Joe Rogan has peddled on The Joe Rogan Experience. Last month, 270 doctors, physicians, and science educators signed an open letter asking Spotify to stop spreading Rogan’s baseless claims.

“With an estimated 11 million listeners per episode, JRE, which is hosted exclusively on Spotify, is the world’s largest podcast and has tremendous influence,” the letter reads. “Spotify has a responsibility to mitigate the spread of misinformation on its platform, though the company presently has no misinformation policy.”

Young removed most of his music from Spotify several years ago because he felt the sound quality on the service was too low, but he ultimately relented. “That’s where people get music,” he told Rolling Stone in 2019. “I want people to hear my music no matter what they have to get through to do it. I’m just trying to make it so they hear a lot more and enjoy it a lot more, but sell it for the same price because music is music.”'

Bravo! Hit 'em where it hurts!

The New MAGA Hotness Is Getting COVID and Vlogging From Your Hospital Bed

One surefire way to garner some extreme MAGA-cred nowadays is to get COVID-19, lie about it and say you just have pneumonia, and remain unrepentant as an avowed anti-vaxxer. But there’s at least one MAGA diehard—an associate of Donald Trump’s former chief strategist Steve Bannon—who has taken things a step further.

His name is Ben Bergquam, and he has recently been vlogging from his hospital bed—after being admitted for contracting the coronavirus. Bergquam has talked about how thrilled he is that he never got the COVID vaccine, and has—naturally—made sure to brag to his viewers about how in-shape he is.

Anyway, he ended up on oxygen, and has vlogged from the COVID ward about how much trouble he’s had breathing in the middle of the night.

“He’s recording videos from his hospital bed about like, ‘I'm so glad I didn't get the vaccine,’” Fever Dreams co-host Will Sommer recounted to co-host Asawin Suebsaeng on this week’s episode of The Daily Beast’s Fever Dreams podcast. “He’s got the oxygen tube in his nose, and he’s saying, ‘Oh, you just gotta stay fit, you won’t die of COVID.’ And it’s like, buddy, if you’re in your thirties, and you’re getting hospitalized, and you’re in relatively good shape—that’s not a great outcome for you from having the virus.”

If you’re wondering whether Bergquam took the time to record some requisite MyPillow promos, yes. Yes, he did.

Holy freaking god, there are multiple levels of stupid in this story. If this guy dies from this, he gets the Darwin Award for 2022, no contest.

Same! Fuck Tom Brady!
