So the 1% fucked us over world-wide. What do we DO about it?

via Ichingcarpenter in GD:

The Confidential Memo at the Heart of the Global Financial Crisis

http://www.vice.com/en_uk/read/larry-summers-and-the-secret-end-game-memo

"The Treasury official playing the bankers’ secret End Game was Larry Summers. Today, Summers is Barack Obama’s leading choice for Chairman of the US Federal Reserve, the world’s central bank. If the confidential memo is authentic, then Summers shouldn’t be serving on the Fed, he should be serving hard time in some dungeon reserved for the criminally insane of the finance world.

The memo is authentic.

The new FSA pulled the lid off the Pandora’s box of worldwide derivatives trade. Among the notorious transactions legalised: Goldman Sachs (where Treasury Secretary Rubin had been co-chairman) worked a secret euro-derivatives swap with Greece which, ultimately, destroyed that nation. Ecuador, its own banking sector de-regulated and demolished, exploded into riots. Argentina had to sell off its oil companies (to the Spanish) and water systems (to Enron) while its teachers hunted for food in garbage cans. Then, Bankers Gone Wild in the Eurozone dove head-first into derivatives pools without knowing how to swim – and the continent is now being sold off in tiny, cheap pieces to Germany.

Watch Collateral Murder, PFC Manning's leaked video of the murder of Reuters journalists

WARNING: THIS IS VIDEO OF MURDER. DO NOT WATCH IF YOU ARE VULNERABLE.

That is the short version. The long version is here:

Watch Collateral Murder, PFC Manning's leaked video of the execution of Reuters journalists

Update: On July 6, 2010, Private Bradley Manning, a 22 year old intelligence analyst with the United States Army in Baghdad, was charged with disclosing this video (after allegedly speaking to an unfaithful journalist). The whistleblower behind the Pentagon Papers, Daniel Ellsberg, has called Mr. Manning a 'hero'. He is currently imprisoned in Kuwait. The Apache crew and those behind the cover up depicted in the video have yet to be charged. To assist Private Manning, please see bradleymanning.org.

5th April 2010 10:44 EST WikiLeaks has released a classified US military video depicting the indiscriminate slaying of over a dozen people in the Iraqi suburb of New Baghdad -- including two Reuters news staff.

Reuters has been trying to obtain the video through the Freedom of Information Act, without success since the time of the attack. The video, shot from an Apache helicopter gun-sight, clearly shows the unprovoked slaying of a wounded Reuters employee and his rescuers. Two young children involved in the rescue were also seriously wounded.

WARNING: THIS IS VIDEO OF MURDER. DO NOT VIEW IF YOU ARE VULNERABLE.

With PFC Manning jailed, how long until journalists experience the same pleasure?

Greenwald was "sent a message". Feinstein and others are "interpreting" what makes one a journalist (of course, Fox news should all be jailed under the slightest scrutiny). NSA collection of data and metadata have had a chilling effect upon journalism as sources dry up over worry they are traceable from having contacted journalists.

Occupy were "sent a message" as well regarding peaceful protest and civil disobedience with some 7,762 arrests (and zero corrupt banksters have been arrested, with our 2nd Birthday approaching).

Things are on a Trend. Who will be targeted after journalists "get the message"?

NDAA Section 1021 destroys the 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 14th Amendments of the US Constitution

"The Fourth Amendment (Amendment IV) is an amendment to the United States Constitution and part of the Bill of Rights. It prohibits unreasonable searches and seizures and requires any warrant to be judicially sanctioned and supported by probable cause. It was adopted in response to the abuse of the writ of assistance, a type of general search warrant issued by the British Government and a major source of tension in pre-Revolutionary America.

Under the Fourth Amendment, search and seizure (including arrest) should be limited in scope according to specific information supplied to the issuing court, usually by a law enforcement officer who has sworn by it."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fourth_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution

-Eliminating "general" warrants
-Requires warrants
-Judicial sanctioning
-Protection from unlimited scope for arrest
-Prohibits unreasonable searches and seizure of person and personal property
-Via specific information
-Usually by an officer sworn by it.

BUT

DHS Watchdog: ‘Intuition and Hunch’ Are Enough to Search Your Gadgets at Border
http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2013/06/border-gadget-searches/

DHS can search and seize your personal electronics on a hunch anywhere along the US border and up to 100 miles inland.

AND

NDAA Case: Indefinite Detention Injunction Does Irreparable Harm, Obama Admin. Lawyers Argue

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/14/ndaa-case-indefinite-dentention_n_1885204.html

"The judged ruled that such a circumstance violated the First Amendment right to free speech, as well as the Fifth Amendment right to due process that holds that a person must be able to understand what actions would break the law."

Obama has twice signed and once defended in court the NDAA section 1021 which provides for the indefinite detention of US citizens (and anyone in the world) with neither trial nor representation.

There goes the Fourth Amendment. Period.

Now note the Sixth Amendment:

"In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sixth_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution

Through NDAA's section 1021 we also lose
-The right to a speedy and public trial
-An impartial jury
-Compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in our favor
-The assistance of counsel for our defence.

There goes the Sixth Amendment. Period.

The Fourteenth Amendment?

"Procedural due process is the guarantee of a fair legal process when the government seeks to burden[jargon] a person's protected interests in life, liberty, or property, and substantive due process is the guarantee that the fundamental rights of citizens will not be encroached on by government."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fourteenth_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution#Due_Process_Clause

That part is gone as well.

Detroit PD being trained in "stop and frisk" (goes deeper down the rabbit hole)

http://rt.com/usa/detroit-cops-stop-frisk-743/

"The Detroit News reported on Monday that traffic cops in the once-booming Rust Belt city are currently being trained to learn their city’s version of what has become a hot topic of contention in New York.

According to some Detroit cops, officers in Motown have already been using practices similar to the stop-and-frisk tactics deployed in NYC for years. Now, however, Traffic Unit officers are being sent through aggressive training in hopes that new tactics will 'prevent street crime through the use of traffic stops.'

The Detroit Police Department has signed a contract with consultants at the Manhattan Institute and Bratton Group, the paper reported, in order to develop a more stringent strategy for cutting down on criminal activity."

---

Not only does this reveal a horrific potentially national trend, it reveals the people involved and profiting from it.

---

Let's take a look at NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly, instigator of "stop and frisk", his supporters, and its long-term outcome:

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — President Barack Obama says New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly would be “well-qualified” to run the Department of Homeland Security.

“I think Ray Kelly is one of the best there is, so he’s been an outstanding leader in New York,” Obama said in an interview Tuesday with with New York’s Univision affiliate.

And of course Occupiers know all about NYPD and Ray Kelly. Add that Kelly works for Bloomberg, a Wall Street billionaire, and add that to Obama and his nomination of legendary foe of worker's rights Penny Pritzker, and you've got a 1%-a-palooza.

"The Bratton Group"

http://www.brattongroup.com/

"As Chief of the New York City Transit Police, Boston Police Commissioner, New York City Police Commissioner and Chief of the LAPD, Mr. Bratton revitalized police morale and cut crime significantly in all four posts. In New York, he led the development and deployment of CompStat, which has revolutionized policing all over the world. CompStat employs accurate, real-time intelligence, rapid deployment of resources and relentless follow-up and accountability systems to focus the work of police on stopping crimes before they happen. In Los Angeles, in addition to significantly driving down crime, he is also credited with improving the LAPD's relationships with the city’s many diverse communities."

Please note that I live in LA and know a tad about the outcomes of Bratton's monstrosities.

Start with the claim crime was driven down. Bratton is responsible for the "broken windows theory" in LA, which posits that a single broken window in any area gives a green light to break more. This also applies to the concept that any single homeless person in a given area is a green light for many more. The BTW was used alongside his "safer cities initiative" to drive the poor and homeless into living in a police-defined criminal status. SCI was used to institute legislation that no one may sleep (lie upon) or sit upon a sidewalk, removing two of a person's three basic physical positions from legality.

Section 56.11 is broadly abused to seize and remove personal property.

Taxpayer monies went to turning Skid Row Los Angeles into an area with more police than any other district, by far.

These are some of the "crimes" he has "prevented". Lying or sleeping on sidewalks. Having personal property on sidewalks. Being poor or homeless while human. "Crime prevention" is a highly relative thing, innit.

This would not be so very horrible if not for the downtown business lobby, ccala.org, who still rabidly support SCI and constantly have lawyers on the legislation which allowed the homeless to sleep on sidewalks downtown overnight (they have to tear down their tents etc. at 6AM every morning or face property seizure. This lobby has been buying up and gentrifying downtown for something like a decade or more and are in the process of actually owning downtown, including having their own private "security" patrols. Corporate cops. No shit. And their influence in city hall is very, very deep. Bad all around for the citizens of this city.

The story is far longer than can be presented here. Search DU for my username and "skid row" for more information.

Bratton was just in Oakland, preaching his system (read: selling) to the city council and mayor.
