A Massive Fleet Of Buses Now Taking New Yorkers To The Womens March

The Women’s March on Washington is happening. It has permits. It has a starting location. More than 150,000 people have indicated on Facebook that they will be there ― a number that grows by the day.

Now march organizers are helping attendees get from New York City to Washington D.C., running what the New York City chapter of the Women’s March described in a statement as a “massive fleet of buses.”

The buses will pick up marchers in 56 neighborhoods, traveling 70 distinct routes, and return to the city the same day. Tickets cost $62 (plus tax) round-trip.

“It is our highest priority to ensure that this march is accessible for people from every demographic in New York. We hope that by providing routes in far-reaching neighborhoods, the diversity of our city can be truly represented at this historic gathering,” New York City chapter coordinator Karen Waltuch said in a statement.

Rachel Maddow Brilliantly Hammers Kellyanne Conway Over Trump's Outrageous Lies About the Press

Nailing Conway is not for the faint-hearted, but Maddow does not let up.

Maddow began the conversation by talking about Trump's lies about ABC journalist Martha Raddatz, whom he mocked for "crying" on election night during his post-election "Thank You" tour.

"He's singling her out not just with wrong information, but singling her out," Maddow said. "Is this how even a reporter like Martha Raddatz is is going to be treated by this president?"

Trump's physician, Dr. Bornstein's blase attitute towards presidental health

“If something happens to him, then it happens to him,” Bornstein told STAT. “It’s like all the rest of us, no? That’s why we have a vice president and a speaker of the House and a whole line of people. They can just keep dying.”

Trump Is Maintaining His Own Scary Private Police Force, Alarming Security Experts

The Secret Service is not enough for Donald Trump. That's the message our president-elect is sending to America with his decision to retain his private security and intelligence team into his presidency, a dangerous move that, according to security experts, "heightens risks for the president-elect and his team, as well as for protesters, dozens of whom have alleged racial profiling, undue force or aggression at the hands Trump’s security," as Politico reported Monday.

Cancer Questions, Controversy and Chorus at EPA Glyphosate Meetings

The agency held a four-day-long gathering of scientists aimed at the rather dry task of analyzing numerous research studies connected to cancer concerns swirling around a chemical called glyphosate. Glyphosate is the world’s most widely used herbicide and is the key ingredient in Monsanto Co.’s Roundup brand. But along with the slicing and dicing of data came razor sharp debate, questions about chemical industry influence over regulators, and even a bit of theater as one group of environmental activists interrupted proceedings to break out in song. Their refrain? “Monsanto is the Devil. No Glyphosate.”

The meetings brought together a roster of scientists with expertise in epidemiology, toxicology and related expertise to advise the EPA on whether or not the agency has properly determined that the weight of evidence indicates glyphosate is “not likely to be carcinogenic” to humans. The determination runs counter to the classification made in March 2015 by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), an arm of the World Health Organization. IARC said a review of scientific research shows that glyphosate is a “probable human carcinogen.”

The EPA’s determination is crucial on many fronts - Monsanto is currently defending itself against more than three dozen lawsuits claiming glyphosate-based Roundup gave people non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), a type of blood cancer; both the EPA and the European Union are assessing re-registrations of glyphosate to determine if limits should be placed on the chemical; and Monsanto is attempting a $66 billion merger with German-based Bayer.

Oil company withdraws application for New Mexico pipeline - Yea! No Pinyon Pipeline!!

I'm sure Standing Rock figured in here somewhat as tribes said they would unite to block this pipeline too. Beautiful Chaco Canyon is safe for now.

FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) — The Bureau of Land Management says an oil company with plans to build a pipeline in New Mexico capable of moving 50,000 barrels of crude oil a day has withdrawn its application for the project.

Saddle Butte San Juan, LLC, sent a letter to the agency saying that market conditions led to the decision to withdraw the right of way application for the Pinon pipeline system.

The project would have been be made up of smaller pipelines that would gather oil at well pads and other points. A larger pipeline would have moved the oil south to a distribution center near Interstate 40 in western New Mexico.

Environmentalists had voiced concerned that the pipeline would open the door to an exponential increase in production in the San Juan Basin.

Women are knitting and crocheting their pink pussyhats for the women's march against Trump

http://bust.com/feminism/18679-the-pussyhat-project.html

Today in AWESOME: A coalition of L.A.-based knitters have launched an initiative called The Pussyhat Project with the goal of making 1.17 MILLION bright pink, cat-eared (“pussy”) hats to protest Trump’s inauguration! The hats will be given to women and allies to wear at the Women’s March on Washington, as well as to folks who can’t make it to D.C. on Inauguration Day who want to demonstrate solidarity.

Michigan Election Officials Refuse to Recount Thousands of Ballots in State's Communities of Color

The Green Party’s best chance to overturn a statewide victory by Donald Trump has run into a swamp of dubious election protocols in Michigan, where Detroit officials said nearly two-thirds of the precincts cannot be recounted because of poor record-keeping on or after election night—presumably the rationale for a recount.

Meanwhile, in the state's legislature, a House committee passed a bill retroactively requiring the Greens to pay more for the recount.
