A simple health care policy.

We should focus on this simple mission: get people health care, get them as much as they can have, and as soon as they can have it.

Too often we focus on party this, and messaging that, and next election stuff, and so on and on. Screw all that s***, people are dying and need health care.

The ACA is a very good first step in that direction, and we can not: we must not; we will not; move a single inch backwards.

Taking his paycheck from the government, after he f***s a lot of other people who work for or depend on the government.

The Biggest Obamacare Lie of Them All

http://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2013/09/27/the-biggest-obamacare-lie-of-them-all/

“The American people don’t want this bill” is a lie of truly epic dimensions, because the American people have voted FOR Obamacare, time and time again.

First, they elected Obama in 2008, and he ran on a platform that actually included even MORE health care than Obamacare delivered. That’s a vote for Obamacare.

Then they re-elected Obama in 2012, when he ran against Romney/Ryan, whose platform included ditching Obamacare. That’s a vote for Obamacare.

They also cast more votes for House Democrats in 2012 than they did for House “Republicans” (the Repubs kept the House via election rigging, gerrymandering, etc.) That’s another vote for Obamacare.

Every time Obamacare’s individual provisions are mentioned in polls, they get huge public support. It’s just the word “Obamacare” that people view through suspicious eyes (and small wonder, given the smear campaign that Repubs have waged against it over the years).

And that, Gentle Reader, is why the lie “The American people don’t want this bill” is the biggest Obamacare of them all. Yes, there are some people who DON’T want Obamacare, but they are in the minority."

Four Obamacare Lies from Ted Cruz. Four sources that prove he’s lying.

http://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2013/09/26/four-obamacare-lies-from-ted-cruz-four-sources-that-prove-hes-lying/

"Not that he’s the only one, of course. “Republicans” like John Boehner and others have been spreading the same farrago of fraudulent statements 24/7 for quite some time now. But because Teddy Boi is such a cretin, and uttered those lies very loudly and recently, we’ll pick on him.

Here are the four lies du jour:”Obamacare is destroying jobs,” Cruz said. “It is driving up health care costs. It is killing health benefits. It is shattering the economy.” You’ve heard these lies before, and the “news” media just regurgitates them verbatim, with no fact-checking or correcting. Your Cranky Correspondent hereby presents the actual facts, and they DO prove that the “Republicans” are lying through their teeth, noses, ears, eyes, and every other orifice they possess."

All four lies, and links to mainstream sources that prove he's lying, at the link. Useful stuff.

JobsOhio: Fox, meet Henhouse.

http://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2013/09/26/jobsohio-fox-meet-henhouse/

A longish post today, so I'll just post some snips:

And the foxy feasting has continued ever since. Not all that surprising, really: it’s a secretive organization that takes millions of taxpayer dollars and does secret things with them; is immune from auditing by the State Auditor; is staffed by cronies of the Guv; and can only be policed by itself. Oh, and it hasn’t done any policing of itself as yet: http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2013/09/25/JobsOhio-conflict-of-interest.html

Even though there are documented instances of JobsOhio board members (and even the Governor) getting money from companies getting breaks and goodies from JobsOhio, they aren’t interested in investigating any conflicts of interest, because, they say, there aren’t any. Even though there, well, ARE.

And no one is allowed to check up on them. Because, when the 100% “Republican” Ohio state government created this slush fund for their cronies, they made it shadowy, secret, and untraceable. A perfect vehicle for people to steal the taxpayers’ hard-earned. And oh, how they are stealing: https://ohiodems.org/dayton-daily-news-investigation-jobsohio-board-has-ties-to-firms-that-got-help/

REAL Republicans should love ObamaCare. Here are four reasons why:

http://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2013/09/25/real-republicans-should-love-obamacare-here-are-four-reasons-why/

Oh, fuck it, here's almost the whole damned post from my blog. I'm too tired to pick out snips.

Number A: It is market-based, using the power of competition to lower prices and offer better quality. Republicans love that sort of free-market solution.

Letter 2: It is reducing the Federal Budget Deficit, which means a reduction in the increase of the National Debt. Republicans love deficit and debt reduction.

Thirdly: It takes a whole raft of people who have been “free riders” and makes them pay for their health care. Republicans love individual responsibility.

Finally: ObamaCare was originally created by the Heritage Foundation, a Republican think tank.

Kind of hard to hard to argue with, innit? These are all Republican ideas, enacted by a Democratic Prexy and a Democratic Congress. Why, any real Republican would be in seventh Heaven over it all.

So, that means anyone who claims to be a Republican but hates ObamaCare must not be a real Republican. Indeed, they would be “Republicans” in name only. That’s pretty much what this writer (along with millions of disaffected moderate Repubs) has been saying since, oh, about 1979 or so. The party that calls itself “Republican” is in fact going berserk, trying to destroy a health care policy that it should be embracing.

To all the real Republicans who are still out there: do us all a favor and kick these Reaganista charlatans out of your party, and take it back. Please. Then we can all return to a bunch of rational grownups running the show, having meaningful debates, reaching compromises, and just generally governing according to the rule of law and basic principles.

Instead of just mindlessly, reflexively hating anything and everything that comes from a Black President, even if the original idea was from Repubs in the first place. Which is exactly what “Republicans” are doing with ObamaCare.

Here’s why the Repub-controlled House is totally full of s***:

http://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2013/09/25/heres-why-the-repub-controlled-house-is-totally-full-of-s/

Short post today, so I'm putting it the whole thing out. Just a rant.

"The “Republican”-controlled House of “Representatives” acts as though they speak for the “American People”, even though they clearly do not. They got pummeled in the last election; are regarded horribly in any poll you’d care to cite; are loathed by everyone from the Loony Left to the Raging Right; are hated by Main Street and Wall Street alike; and still they claim to speak for us. They might be delusional or cynical, but it is patently obvious to everyone but the Gang of 218 that they speak for no one but themselves.

Think about it - they want to shut down the government, even though the majority of Americans oppose it. They want to keep siphoning money away from the poor to give to the rich, even though the majority of Americans oppose it. And they are claiming that the American People hate Obamacare, when in fact the American People are not of one mind on the topic.

This misrepresentation on the part of the House is why this writer puts “Representatives” in quotations whenever they are called out: they cannot represent us if they misrepresent us. And that, Gentle Reader, is why the “Republican”-controlled House of “Representatives” is truly, massively, totally full of s***."

Congressman collects millions in food aid, but says poor people should get no food aid.

http://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2013/09/24/representative-collects-millions-in-food-aid-but-says-poor-people-should-get-no-food-aid/

I know, most DUers are hip to this scam, but here's a blog post for the Fundagelicals in your life, referencing bible verses and pointing out the BS in the Wingnut "fuck the poor, Jesus said so" argument.

Hypocrisy, thy name is “Republican”: Congressman Stephen Fincher, who has collected over three million dollars of funds from the farm bill, wants poor folks to get nothing from that same farm bill: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/05/us/as-debate-reopens-food-stamp-recipients-continue-to-squeeze.html?pagewanted=1&smid=tw-share
Not only that, he says Jesus wants poor people to starve. Really.

He gets this, as so many Fundagelicals do, from a single out-of-context quote from Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians: “Even while we were with you, we gave you this command: “Those unwilling to work will not get to eat.” And, like many Fundies, he glosses over the “unwilling to” part. You see, even a hard-case like the Apostle Paul knew that some people couldn’t work, through no fault of their own. But Fincher, who can’t tell the difference between Jesus and Paul, also can’t see the difference between those who cannot work, and those who will not work.

But then, how can a man who gets $174,000.00 a year to rarely show up at work, and barely works when he does show up; who pocketed millions of tax dollars in exchange for doing nothing; how can such a man know what work is? He cannot, and clearly does not.

Just another day in Wingnut Land, where Congressional millionaires destroy the lives of non-millionaires, and laugh all the way to bank.

Here’s another relevant quote (actually from Jesus himself) from the Gospel of Matthew: And Jesus said to His disciples, “Truly I say to you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24“Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

Mr. Fincher might want to give that one a passing thought, when he isn’t busy trying to starve little kids to death.

Republicans admit it: they want to “regulate” your “sexual relationships”.

http://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2013/09/19/republicans-admit-it-they-want-to-regulate-your-sexual-relationships/

Snips:
"And they say government has the right to do so. In this link, the “Republican” government of Michigan says it straight out, with no shame or moderation:

“One of the paramount purposes of marriage in Michigan — and at least 37 other states that define marriage as a union between a man and a woman — is, and has always been, to regulate sexual relationships between men and women so that the unique procreative capacity of such relationships benefits rather than harms society.”

Got that? They are saying that they have the right to be bedroom police. And this is not some random pundit flapping his yap; this is an official court filing by attorneys for the state of Michigan. (Never mind that the Constitution says nothing at all about Government having such power.)

Even the most Leftish of all Liberal Dems haven’t been THAT f***ing intrusive (pun intended). And these ”Republicans” say that they are in favor of smaller government??? Bulls***. It doesn’t get more Big Brother than monitoring our bedrooms."

More at the above link, including a link to the actual court filing.

I saw this first on DU: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10023694246 and decided to throw it out to the Blogosphere at large. Thanks to bearssoapbox!
