it's a sad commentary

i was walking past the news feed in the lobby here and work and saw a blurb about the latest mass murderer, and thought, at least he killed ONLY two people before putting himself down.

Pearl Harbor Day

my dad was there, on the USS California. he went missing and for about three weeks or so his family believed he was dead. i still have the original telegrams from the War Department, the first one saying we are sorry to inform you, and the next one saying we regret the pain the first one caused you.
in 1968 he went back to Hawaii for a job and dropped dead of a heart attack; he was 49.

time sure flies.
