Only by favoring the rich can we keep the Internet neutral

Only by cutting Social Security can we maintain Social Security
Only by spying on everyone can we ensure our privacy
Give unto Wall Street all the money. All of it, and nobody gets hurt.

Thus sayeth the Third Way.

On whole, how well do you think DUers treat their fellow humans?

My favorite rabbi in Hebrew school never gave a grade higher than 98%: only The Creator could ever be perfect (100%), and even 99% was too close to 100% for a mortal to receive.

On whole, given our great imperfections, how do you think DUers compare to other people with regard to treating others?

Another SHAMELESS Request for Recs:

Do me a solid and rec the following post:

I notice a lot of umbrage about privilege, and I honestly think it's off base a little.

Or at least give it a read, and rec if you agree.

Greenwald: Thumbs Up or Down?

Pretty controversial fellow!

Thanks Moms!*

Before I had a child, I'd watch parents with children and think "gee, raising kids can't be as tough as it looks". Now I know: it's even tougher.

But Moms do it. Sickness, injury, dribbling and throwing food, getting lost at the mall, getting a call from the lock up, the whole thing. Years of it, day after day. One foot in front of the other.

Among all moms there is a group that deserves a special call out: mothers of children with disabilities. As tough as it is to be a "regular" mom, it is so much tougher still to live with the heartbreak of a wounded child, the physical exhaustion and lowered income from tending to special needs, the unending tension-filled meetings with specialists and school staff. The increased rates of divorce and poverty. Planning for adulthood, or in some cases the death of a young child. Always the worry, worry. These mothers are special angels.

As challenging as it all is, I don't know a mother of any child, "typical" or disabled, who'd trade their role away if given the chance. (At least most of the time.) Their efforts cultivate love, and love is the most wonderful fruit of our universe.

God bless you all, mothers, today and every day. Thank you for your role in filling our world with wonderful children, our next generation.

*and Dads too, but we get a different day so stay out of the limelight now, OK?

Duh. Doubling down on stupid... yields bigger stupid.

I understand that most Republicans either can't be bothered with math or just don't understand the stuff, or God said math was the Devil's plaything or whatever. Otherwise, like Elizabeth Warren (and me) they'd become Democrats of some stripe.

I recall the Warren/Brown senate race less than two years ago. I'd had my eye on Warren for years (no, not in that way, you nitwit) and knew she could skin Brown alive in a debate with ease, but was frustrated by her reluctance to do so. She didn't need to get out her cutlery, because Brown was too busy bludgeoning himself with his mighty Stupid Hammer.

Brown attacked Warren for being smart: "Professor Warren" would spit from his mouth like a rotten piece of meat. He attacked her for reporting that she was part Native American just because that's what her parents told her, even though she'd never benefited from that identification.

The good people of my Commonwealth were, as a whole, utterly appalled but this garbage, as any reasonable people would be. Brown slipped in the polls. Whereupon Brown apparently determined that the problem with his strategy was that he wasn't doing enough of it, so he pulled out the stops. "Professor Warren" got spit out like accidentally-ingested drain cleaner, and Brown's staff held a "spontaneous" rally in Boston to highlight Warren's ancestry, complete with war whoops and tomahawk chops. It was a wonder to behold. Amplifying the bad strategy only amplified his descent in the polls, and now we have Senator "Professor" Warren.

Thanks Scott!

So now the Republicans want to double down on BenghaziBenghaziBenghazi, a fully-fake scandal. At this point, most Americans understand that BenghaziBenghaziBenghazi is crap, that Congress should be getting real stuff done instead. The only people who care about Benghazi are Republican voters, who will still vote for Republicans if more BenghaziBenghaziBenghazi hearings are held. Everyone else? We'll just get more pissed at Republicans, and they'll lose potential votes.

BenghaziBenghaziBenghazi's also a fully-fake scandal that's so mightily idiotic that it can be countered effectively in five minutes, with the Benghazi-philes coming out looking like colossal dopes, as Hillary Clinton proved.

Doubling down on The Stupid.

Good luck with that.

Unless Democrats totally @#$% up, both houses of Congress will be Democratic come next January.

$25 to the first person who provides proof that

Glenn Greenwald claimed to be a Libertarian or endorsed Rand or Ron Paul for any office.

Take my money.

Somewhere in South Philadelphia a puppy is vomiting.

Are we having fun yet?

I've made an important decision re: Glenn Greenwald

Fellow Progressives:

After much reflection, I've decided that I will NOT be backing Glenn Greenwald for the office of President of the United States.

Reading DU these past few days, it's been impressed upon me that Greenwald did not oppose the Patriot Act, and did not oppose going to war in Iraq.

Incredible! Unbelievable!

As bad as that all is is, it would be easily excusable if it weren't even worse: the slimeball has actually admitted it was a mistake to do these things. What kind of sick, demented sociopath admits they were wrong about such a thing?! A person with judgement that poor should never, ever be given the power to make war.

Now, I'm just one voice. But I'm sure that there are others who realize that, as much as we'd otherwise want Greenwald in the White House, it's just too dangerous a proposition. Please join me in pledging to DENY Greenwald the Presidency.

Regards,

Third-Way Manny

In support of Glenn Greenwald

Greenwald has risked much to get important information to us.

I really don't understand the incredible hatred for him, the need to spread half truths and interpret whatever he does in the worst possible way.
