MannyGoldstein's JournalHave you contacted the Ready for Hillary! people?
I'm sure they'd like to hear that they shouldn't be spending millions on their efforts.
As to dividing Democrats... Based on the results of this thread, it looks like there's great unity.
I'm seeing Charles Pierce tonight - thoughts on an interesting question?
He lives in my town and is giving a talk tonight. If I have the opportunity to ask a question (audience will be large), I'm thinking about asking him to expound on his recent piece:
I Hate Centrism
and given that more of us hate it every day, what he sees on the road ahead in politics.
But if anyone has a suggestion on a question that would be both amusing and informative... I'm all ears.
I'm a little confused by the "Hillary is unbeatable!" meme.
I'm trying to remember the tough races she won. She certainly did get whupped by a newly-minted Senator in 2008.
What major battles of any sort has she won in her 20+ years of being an icon and stuff?
What am I missing here?
Not necessarily. You've had good luck with that in the past, e.g.,

The DU jury system works

I think Hillary would make a great VP
She's a ferocious attack dog, which is what we need in a #2 on the ticket. Although President Warren would need a food taster if it happened, it'd be worth it.
An all-female ticket would be great, too.
ACA rollout: Obama's Masada
The media needs our help - they're running out of utterly insane stuff to compare to the ACA rollout. Sadly, today's media personalities are picked for looks, not brains, so... well, they need our help.
Please share your suggestions below.
The ACA rollout is Obama's... ?
The NY Times has been infiltrated by insane people
First, an editorial endorsing the Trans Pacific Partnership. Which is bizarre on many levels: it's secret, and what little we do know about it is awful.
Now I see this:
Health Law Rollouts Stumbles Draw Parallels to Bushs Hurricane Response
Look, I'm no fan of the President, but it's insane to compare the ACA stupidity with the staggering evil of Bush's indifference and incompetence in the face of disaster. "Heckuva job, Brownie!"
My favorite paper has been hijacked by crazy people. I thought that was all over after Howell Raines and Judith Miller were cast off a decade ago, but I guess not.
Perhaps Krugman can grab some friendlies and take the thing back.
I'm the luckiest guy in the world
I'm here at the Watertown Mall with our son, waiting to buy the new Playstation 4 when it comes out at midnight. We actually were here early enough to score one!
But that's not why I'm lucky.
I'm lucky because I'm not homeless.
We had to wait outside in line for a few hours at 40 deg F. It's one thing to move around in the cold, but not moving is another thing entirely. It was #%^*ing cold. And that's what people do most of the time: we don't move. And if we don't have a home...
As bad as things are today, I have a home, and food, and heat. And so many other things, really. In a time and place where cutting food stamps and Social Security is considered great sport highly responsible.
Let's turn things around so all of us can have a home, and food, and heat, and so many other things. Tomorrow, I'll look into local homeless shelters. Nobody should be cold.
Peace.
Update: Now go to Lady Freedom Returns' post and put some stuff in your car to help the homeless when you see them:
What do people need on the street? Many things.
Thanks!
It is incredibly disturbing that a trade negotiation would be kept secret
because the 99% would not like it. Simply pathological. What kind of people do things like this?
In fact, they even kept it secret from Congress until Congress took 'em to court, IIRC.
People say "Hey Manny, you suck! Give 'em a break!" Why? We've become nothing more than prey for them.
I'm glad the TPP will be opened up for debate and will see the light of day before being voted on. It's bad stuff, and it needs to be disinfected by sunlight - although I suspect that the mere threat of sunlight will keep it from ever rearing its head. Like a vampire, it can only live in dark places. And dark hearts.
