Lake Worth woman sues Walmart citing secret insurance policy on her husband

http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/news/lake-worth-woman-sues-walmart-citing-secret-insura/nPbPp/

By Jane Musgrave

Palm Beach Post Staff Writer

West Palm Beach —

When Linda Gaub’s 51-year-old husband died of a heart attack in 1994 she said his employer, Walmart, couldn’t have been more supportive.

They took up a collection. They brought Christmas presents for the couple’s three young children. They donated plants for a garden at Liberty Park Elementary School, a project that had been her husband’s passion — a way of using his skills as a farmer to help out one of his kid’s school.

Then, last year, the Lake Worth woman got a letter, alerting her that Walmart benefited richly from her husband’s death. Like hundreds of thousands of its other employees, the Arkansas-based discount giant had secretly taken out a life insurance policy on her husband when he worked as a department head in the garden center of its store on Forest Hill Boulevard, her attorneys said. Ronald Gaub’s death, they said, put between $75,000 and $150,000 in its pockets.

“I was floored,” she said of the news. “Myself and my children were extremely upset that they had profited from his death. It’s deplorable.”

As if that wasn’t enough, she learned she couldn’t share in the $2 million the company last year agreed to pay to settle claims filed by other Florida residents who were equally shocked to learn that the death of loved ones had lined Walmart’s pockets.

Does anyone know or seen photos of the crowd for Rmoney's bus tour today? I think

the President pretty much ruined his day but would still love to see the hugh crowd that came to greet and listen to him...

June 14, 2012

The Obama audience was packed to the rafters and the floor, how was

Mitt's crowd? Did they give any shots of it or just a tight camera focus on the Mittster.

MSNBC is unwatchable during the day. Jonathan Alter didn't like the speech and who ever

the other guy says the POTUS went off message. I've listened to many speeches, this one was wonderful. Jonathan Alter???? Idiot.

The "Tell"....

If you play cards on a regular basis with the same people, eventually you become used to their "tells"..those minor physical movements that indicate whether they have a great hand or they're bluffing. I think the same applies to those we hear and watch on a daily basis. I'll use McCain and Scarborough as examples, they are the easiest for me to read.

McCain is complaining that POTUS ignored him after the election. Of course, this is nonsense and McCain knows this but here's his "tell." He is complaining about the President loudly because the "nice guy" image is bothering him. Rmoney is not a "nice guy" and it's being hammered home to the electorate, Mitt is not charismatic nor is he honest. Deep down repubs know their man is a loser so diversions must be made. I doubt McCain cares one way or the other if Obama pays him any mind. The Senate and House are in jeopardy of going all Democratic and this is very upsetting to Repubs. Their "tell" is to spout nonsense, any diversion will do, whether you look and sound like an idiot does not matter. The public are stupid and will forget about his ranting when the next shiny thing comes along.

I've been watching Scarborough for many years. When he's in a good mood he's quite charming, good conversation and almost hits the intelligence conversationalist mark. He's even non-condescending to Mika and let's her speak at length about whatever point she wants to make. However, he becomes shrill and downright nasty and snarly when his information and observations of his repubs are going off the rails. He was not enthralled with Rmoney from the beginning but like a good right-winger, fell in line. The shrillness comes from the doubt and fear he feels when Mitt open his mouth and comes out with more distortions and lies. Joe gives the public more credit than McCain does. He knows, in his heart of hearts that repubs will most likely lose it all because of such a flawed candidate. Norquist is a serious problem for people like Scarborough. Joe doesn't have the spine to say it out loud but I notice Norquist is not a guest, ever as far as I know, on his show.

I really don't pay much attention to either McCain or Joe when they get this way. They're about to go down and they know it. They are depending on stealing and cheating, sad to say, and push the "close race" meme as much as possible. I doubt it will be as easy to steal as some may think, but keep in mind these "tells." Jovial and relaxed, uh oh...Shrill..they have problems. I'm betting on shrill until November and then wailing until Christmas.

If there is truly justice in this world, Jerry Sandusky should never leave prison. I'm shook to the

bone listening to portions of the testimony from these children (through the news person who was in the court room who was also very shaken). They have only hit on the surface stuff, this goes right up the line to Corbett and their callous and cavalier attitude toward the horrid actions of this pedophile. Tweety and Smerconish, both Pennsylvania guys, are going to really delve into this. The female news person said she saw the one boy walk in the courtroom with head down and shoulders hunched. He was just a little guy, so vulnerable, she just wanted to hug him. She said she became teary, and as she told her story I did also.

This man needs to be put away forever and those who covered up for him should receive some harsh punishment.

Scarborough is un-watchable this a.m. I knew when I saw Nicole Wallace what kind of a day

it would be. No Mika, not that that matters much, but it is the Morning Republican show. Mark Halperin and Nicole just shredding POTUS on "the private sector is fine" ad nauseum, Joe chiming in on how Rmoney is improving on the campaign trail. Went to Bill Press, good show.

Could Bachmann be the "leaker?"

<snip>

Bachmann may have justified Boehner’s faith in her abilities, but he wasn’t always so confident. When he appointed her to the committee last December, he made a special point of sitting Bachmann down to warn her that she could not let national secrets slip.

Which is why I find it interesting that Bachmann is the surrogate who pointed the finger in a direction away from her. It is far more likely that she or one of her staff would leak information like this, knowing it would infuriate people and embarrass the White House. From a timing standpoint, the pieces easily point to Bachmann as the leaker in the room, not the administration.

Crickets from George, of course. For him, it was all about pinning Axelrod down and casting doubt on President Obama's denial Friday.

This from Axelrod on Steffy's show this morning... More at: http://crooksandliars.com/

Right-winger sent me this. I have no idea what it's about..Anyone???

I hope that this is not true!

ON JANUARY 1, 2013, THE US GOVERNMENT WILL BE REQUIRING EVERYONE TO HAVE DIRECT DEPOSIT FOR SS CHECKS.

WONDER WHY? Subject: HR 4646 Be sure to read entire explanation

Watch for this AFTER November elections; remember this BEFORE you VOTE, in case you think Obama is looking out for your best interest.

A 1% tax on all bank transactions is what HR 4646 calls for.

Do you receive a paycheck, or a retirement check from Social Security or a pension fund and have it direct deposit??

Well guess what ... It looks as if Obama wants to tax it 1% !!!

This bill was put forth by Rep. Chaka Fattah (D-PA).

YES, that is 1% tax on all bank transactions - HR 4646, every time it goes in and every time money goes out.

Ask your congressperson to vote NO.

FORWARD THIS TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW!

1% tax on all bank transactions ~ HR 4646 - ANOTHER NEW OBAMA TAX SLIPPED IN WHILE WE WERE ASLEEP. Checked this on snopes, it's true! Check it out yourself ~ HR 4646.

President Obama's finance team is recommending a one percent (1%) transaction fee (TAX). Obama's plan is to sneak it in after the November elections to keep it under the radar.

This is a 1% tax on all transactions at any financial institution - banks, credit unions, savings and loans, etc. Any deposit you make, or even a transfer within your own bank from one account to another, will have a 1% tax charged.

If your paycheck or your Social Security or whatever is direct deposit, it will get a 1% tax charged for the transaction.

If your paycheck is $1000, then you will pay Obama $10 just for the privilege of depositing your paycheck in your bank. Even if you hand carry your paycheck or any check in to your bank for a deposit, 1% tax will be charged.

You receive a $5,000 stock dividend from your broker, Obama takes $50 just to allow you to deposit that check in the bank.

If you take $1,000 cash to deposit at your bank, 1% tax will be charged.

Mind you, this is from the man who promised that, if you make under $250,000 per year, you will not see one penny of new tax.

Keep your eyes and ears open, you will be amazed at what you learn about this guy's under-the-table moves to increase the number of ways you are taxed.

Oh, and by the way, if you receive a refund from the IRS next year and you have it direct deposited or you walk in to deposit that check, you guessed it. You will pay a 1% charge of that money just for putting it in your bank.

Remember, any money, cash, check or whatever, no matter where it came from, you will pay a 1% fee if you put it in the bank.

Some will say, oh well, it's just 1%. Are you kidding me? It's a 1% tax increase across the board. Remember, once the tax is there, they can also raise it at will. And if anyone protests, they will just say, "Oh,that's not really a tax, it's a user fee"!

Think this is no big deal? Go back and look at the transactions you made from last year's banking statements. Then add the total of all those transactions and deduct 1%. Still think it's no big deal?

WTH..Ed Rendell. Another one who needs to shut up...

Former Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell told CNN’s Jessica Yellin today that, in 2008, he thought the Obama campaign was far too serious to make it to November, and he’s still “not sure” the President will win this go around. In an interview on John King USA today, Rendell confessed that, while the President “should” win, he wasn’t sure it would happen.

“Do they take themselves too seriously?” Yellin asked, to which Rendell said yes, and told an anecdote about how he made a joke about President Obama’s flag pin on television once that earned him a stern phone call from David Axelrod. “They never got a sense of humor, but they made it till November,” he noted, smiling, though later adding that he was concerned. “I’m not sure he’s going to win– he should win,” he told Yellin. “He inherited the worse set of problems of any president in my lifetime,” he asserted, but Rendell advised the President to not run so much on his record but, rather, “shift to stressing the future.”
