An in-depth and well written piece on the Hollywood event last night.

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/barack-obama-george-clooney-fundraiser-robert-downey-jr-323198

<snip>

Obama addressed the crowd shortly after 7 p.m.. He thanked Katzenberg for putting the event together and Clooney for hosting it at his house, according to a pool report. The president noted that he spotted a “Hope” poster, by Shepard Fairey, hanging in Clooney’s house.

“People don't realize that the photograph of me is actually me sitting next to George” at an event when Clooney was advocating on behalf of Darfur, the president told the crowd. “We struck up a friendship,” he said, and then he joked, to much laughter: “This is the first time that George Clooney has actually been photo-shopped out of a picture. Never happened before, will never happen again.”

Obama added: "But the wonderful thing is the artist actually sent George -- some of you have seen this -- a print with my picture and his picture right next to each other with the same -- in the same format. Why he said at the bottom, 'Dope and Hope' I don't know. I don't think that's fair."

As for the record-breaking evening, Obama said: "We raised a lot of money because everybody loves George. They like me, they love him. And rightfully so. Not only is he an unbelievable actor, but he is one of those rare individuals who is at ease with everybody. He seems to occupy a constant state of grace, and uses his extraordinary talents on behalf of something truly important.”

Thank you Mika! A limited amount of voices would like to "blame" VP Biden for jumping the time line

for the President to announce his support for gay marriage just prior to the convention. Mika commented to those around the table, David Gregory asked the question on MTP and Joe Biden gave his honest answer. What was Joe supposed to do? Lie? Everyone agreed there is no blame here and the time line is a non-issue. The media, for the most part that I have seen is very positive about the President's decision to announce this now. prior to the convention.

Think Progress Thank You Letter to the President.

http://thinkprogress.org/take-action/thank-obama-lgbt-b/

This is the link to send a thank you to the President for his decision to support gay marriage. Even though I'm straight, this is a way to show our appreciation for his stance on civil rights for all Americans.

One more of many reasons to love Cher..

"Thank God I got the half that thinks," she writes in response to an assertion that a series of tweets -- now deleted -- has cost her 50 percent of her fans.

Cher went on an anti-Republican tirade early Tuesday morning that went viral courtesy of the Drudge Report, and by noon she had deleted the offending tweets.

“If ROMNEY gets elected I don’t know if I can breathe same air as Him & his Right Wing Racist Homophobic Women Hating Tea Bagger Masters,” the entertainer tweeted referring to Mitt Romney, the Republican's likely nominee for president.

After some criticism -- some of it profane -- Cher tweeted: “TOO HARSH? That’s me Holding BACK! They care nothing about the POOR The OLD The SICK The HUNGRY CHILDREN & People striving 4 a Better LIFE ! –"

Does Chucky want to be Press Sec. to romney???

NBC's Chief White House Correspondent Chuck Todd on Monday predicted that President Barack Obama would announce his support for marriage equality before the November election because LGBT donors had become more important to his campaign than Wall Street donors.

The MSNBC host said he believes that it's no coincidence that just in the last few days, both Vice President Joe Biden and Secretary of Education Arne Duncan have expressed support for same sex marriage.

"They are so sensitive to Biden doing this because, number one, gay money in this election has replaced Wall Street money," Todd explained. "It has been the gay community that has put in money in a way to this President that is a very, very important part of the fundraising operation for President Obama's campaign."

"What I keep being told is [President Barack Obama is] not ever going to announce his change in his position at a press conference. He'll do it a more appropriate venue."

George Murdock (Actor) has passed away.

http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/George_Murdock

George Murdock (25 June 1930 - 30 April 2012) was an American actor.

Murdock's vigorous filmography has recurring and guest roles in many genres of television, including episodes of The Twilight Zone, Death Valley Days, Tarzan, Night Gallery, Dynasty, Night Court, Smallville, Lois and Clark, The X-Files, Law and Order, and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Murdock's most popular comedic role was as the "by the book" police officer, Lt. Ben Scanlon, in Barney Miller.

Murdock also had roles in another Glen Larson program, Knight Rider.

Star Trek fans may remember Murdock (or his voice) in the climactic The Next Generation two-part episode, "The Best of Both Worlds", as Admiral J.P. Hanson, commander of the ill-fated Battle of Wolf 359 against the Borg. Murdock also lent his speaking talents as "God" in the film, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier.

Murdock lent voice acting to several American animated shows, including Batman, and Looney Tunes: Back in Action.

Murdock potrayed Doctor Salik in the Original Series, as well as reprising the role in Richard Hatch's proof-of-concept trailer, Battlestar Galactica: The Second Coming in 1999.

So what's the first thing David Gregory asks Axe this morning?

How come there were 14,000 instead of 18,000 at the Ohio rally yesterday (with camera pointing to empty seats). Is the President losing his support. Of course Axelrod told him he should have followed the campaign to Virginia where they were packed to the rafters with many unable to get in. Meet The Press is unwatchable. I really tried so I could hear first-hand, could not do it. Axelrod is the best to respond to these inane questions but it goes to show how the right has absolutely nothing to talk about except empty seats.

I wonder if Romney's "very foolish" comments about the China situation will be discussed on any of

the Sunday shows tomorrow. Since they always lean right, wouldn't it be a great stride in fairness if David Gregory, George Steph, and hopefully Tweety at least mention it to get a discussion going. If a Dem candidate had inserted himself in such a fragile negotiation it would be all shows all Sunday. Anyone want to hazard a guess? Maybe Billy Kristol will mention it, maybe George Will. I don't think either of them are big $omney fans to begin with..

Chen Guangcheng, Blind Activist, Offered Study Abroad Option To End Diplomatic Standoff

BEIJING -- The U.S. and China made progress Friday in resolving a standoff over legal activist Chen Guangcheng "to help him have the future that he wants," U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said.

Speaking to reporters after two-days of high-level talks in Beijing, Clinton said that the U.S. is encouraged by a Chinese government statement confirming that Chen may apply for permission to travel abroad for study.

"Over the course of the day, progress has been made to help him have the future that he wants, and we will be staying in touch with him as this process moves forward," Clinton said in her first comments on Chen's case. "We are encouraged by progress that we have seen today, but there is more work to be done so we will stay engaged as this moves forward."

Clinton's assessment coupled with the Chinese statement were the first positive signs that the governments were nearing a deal on Chen and end one of their most delicate diplomatic crises in years.
