next time you see a stray cat on the street to ignore it - it probably has a home

SPOKANE, Wash. – A new promotional campaign is urging people not to pick up stray cats.

SCRAPS is telling people that the next time you see a stray cat on the street to ignore it.

SCRAPS leader said the harsh words have less to do with cruelty and more to do with responsibility.

Whenever the weather gets cold, people are inclined to pick up cats off the streets and bring them to SCRAPS. The only problem is that most of the time the cats were not homeless and were on the streets by choice.

Studies by SCRAPS indicate 59 percent of cats on the street know their way home. In addition, another 30 percent of homeless cats are found by their owners on the streets. As a result, when people do bring a cat to SCRAPS, it makes the overcrowding problem, worse.

Officials said once cats go missing, only three percent are claimed by their owners.

ISIS cancels all classes except religious studies in Syrian schools - developing new curriculum

ISIS cancels all classes except religious studies in Syrian schools because 'even the two-times table shouldn't be taught as all knowledge belongs to the creator'

Militants close all schools in eastern Syria as they revise 'infidel' education
ISIS wants to replaced the current 'infidel' education, activists have claimed
Chemistry and physics were axed from its new curriculum in September
A number of children and teachers staged a demonstration, it has emerged
But protests were muted because many were 'too afraid to demonstrate'

Islamic State informed them that teachers shall undergo a religious instructional course for one month, and that Islamic State officials were currently developing a new curriculum instead of the current 'infidel' education,' the Observatory statement said.

At the start of the academic year in September, Islamic State revised the school curriculum in areas it controls, eliminating physics and chemistry while promoting Islamic teachings.

Their latest move aims to further reduce the school day into several hours of religious learning at the expense of academic subjects, according to local activists.

Scary. Patient attacks nurses with metal pole. Dies later.

Minnesota police have released hospital security video that they say shows a man who later died in police custody chasing and attacking nurses with a metal pole. Police in Maplewood said they still didn't know why Charles Emmett Logan, 68, of St. Paul died after being handcuffed following the attack Sunday.

One nurse suffered a collapsed lung, and another fractured her wrist, NBC station KARE of Minneapolis reported. Medical staff told police that Logan was suffering from paranoia, the station reported.

Police said in a statement that officers used a Taser stun gun on Logan when they found him three blocks from the hospital and, when that wasn't effective, wrestled him to the ground and put him in handcuffs. Almost immediately after the cuffs were locked, police said, Logan became unresponsive and later died. An autopsy was scheduled, police said.

Hanko said that she is "in good shape," but police still have not had a chance to interview her.

Freeland-Gaither's mother, whose name was not released, attended tonight's news conference and said that she has been able to speak to her daughter by phone from the hospital, but will be reunited later this evening.

"She was very upset. She was crying," she said of her daughter.

"Thank you for keeping me up. Thank you for being there for us. I'm taking my baby home," she added.

Barnes is being held as a result of an outstanding attempted capital murder warrant that was issued for him in Virginia, though he is expected to face federal charges once the ongoing investigation into Freeland-Gaither's case is complete.

Freepers get ready to war with GOP over social issues, immigration and Tea Party

This is their state of mind over at freeperville:

You are spot on but the problem is Karl Rove, Priebus and all the rest of the GOPe bumblers will think voters turned out for their moderate stance on social issues.

------------

It’s fine and dandy that Reid and Company were turned out. But now we have the second front of the war to wrap up and that is to get the upper hand on the GOPe.

They should not think even for a minute that ‘they’ won by their positions on issues. They should not think this conflict with Tea Party Conservatives is over. It’s just getting started.

----------

I’ve been hearing anecdotal evidence that a lot of North Carolinians are steaming over what the federal court did by nullifying their vote against same-sex “marriage”.

That this is the biggest reason of all many of them walked over broken glass to get to the polls and vote against Obama and his puppet Kay Hagen.

And we know they had plenty of other reasons to do it.

It’s just, this was so personal and so struck them as federal overreach, it was a very great motivator.

Bulletin: THAT HELPED GIVE THE MARGIN TO WIN IN NC. ANGER OVER THE FEDERAL COURT USURPATION OF THEIR STATE RIGHT TO DEFINE MARRIAGE!!!!

------------

Dems and the media are still terrified of conservatives. Mike Wallace said good news and bad, the bad was for the Tea Party who he says lost big.

Conservative news outlets need to publish exit polls if they show the number of conservatives/Tea Party or support the outcry for conservative leaders. If we don’t hammer these clowns, they’re going to go back to business as usual before the majority even takes their oath.

the people have spoken, deal with it

Not voting is sending a message also. Repubs will crawl thru broken glass to vote. Dems have to dragged and cajoled unless it’s a prez election.
No point in crying about it.

Women providing LA adventure club a new challenge

One member of the Adventurers Club of Los Angeles has walked on the moon, while another rode a crashed airplane to the ground and walked away from the wreckage.

Still, for some members of this venerable institution that has been meeting once a week since 1921, their biggest challenge may lie ahead: Deciding whether to admit women to what has always been a "gentleman-only" club.

One member angrily resigned after past president Marc Weitz suggested the idea. Initially the club's board of directors unanimously supported him, Weitz says, but as things grew more acrimonious three board members had second thoughts.

The controversy has brought a rare moment of discord to a group of ah-shucks kind of guys who quietly go out and do amazing things, then meet just as quietly on Thursday nights to shoot the breeze over a meat-and-potatoes dinner in a clubhouse hidden above a drugstore in a modest LA neighborhood.

"It's been quite divisive," acknowledges board member Kevin Lee, choosing his words carefully. "Some of the folks opposed think it would hurt the club's camaraderie. Others say if we let women in they should be as qualified as men."
