most "thumbed up" comment about Ted Cruz refers negatively to his citizenship

Daily mail - Looks like righties are going to be equal opportunity misinformed bigots

Canadian born citizen for US President? Yea right.

Ted was born in Canada to only 1 American citizen (his dad is Cuban who supported Castro). He spent his early years being raised in Canada. Ted only renounced Canadian citizenship last year. So up until last year he was the Queens subject. I highly doubt anyone would want a US president who essentially was a subject of a queen in his lifetime and has divided loyalty.

video captures 2 men being arrested - white suspect running off as cops taze black suspect

?w=380
Sometimes racial inequality is so blatant it almost becomes satirical. Case in point: this week a video hit the internet showing two men being arrested; one black and one white.

In the clip posted on Twitter, the handcuffed white suspects has been left completely unattended and decides to jump up and run away. Meanwhile, right next to him five police officers are surrounding and tasering the black suspect.

No one even pays attention to the white suspect for the most part, and he’s already across the street by the time we see just one of the cops finally going after him.

record breaking Mega hit "Empire" makes Fox the most watched tv network in black homes

I wonder how having this mega.hit black show will affect Fox's racist news programming

For the first week of March, Empire raked over a half million viewers and its viewership continues to grow. The consecutive audience growth for the show can be credited to Black households, a first for Fox Network and television history. The growth made Fox the most watched TV network in Black homes last week.

Interestingly enough, the show’s producer Danny Strong believed the show would only grow in White households since those are the typical viewers who tune into Fox Network content. During a media conference call, Strong relayed, “I thought we would grow in White households. What I didn’t realize is that we would grow in White households but double in African-American households,” reports Target Market News.

With their large new following, Fox has accumulated 15.2 million viewers between their five shows that are on the Top 25 Nielsen rating list. ABC currently has 12.5 million for eight programs and CBS lands in third place with 9.2 million viewers for over nine shows.

We’re not surprised by Empire’s record breaking ratings. This week’s two-hour season finale will most likely make headlines, so stay tuned.

Fox's Empire continued to violate the laws of ratings gravity Wednesday, rising for the eighth consecutive week since its premiere.

24 firefighters labor 5 hours to rescue doberman from crevise, then rock climber is called in...

How Syracuse rock climber rescued dog stuck deep in narrow rock crevice

JAMESVILLE, N.Y. -- Nate Farrington is thin. He's also a good rock climber.

Both points made him an ideal choice to scale down 15 feet into a one-foot-wide crevice to rescue a stranded dog at Clark Reservation State Park in Jamesville.

More than two dozen firefighters spent about five hours trying to rescue Remy, a 1 1/2-year-old female doberman, who slipped and fell into a crevice while on a walk around 6:30 p.m. Monday. They couldn't get the dog out.

That's when Melissa Fadden, an employee at the Veterinary Medical Center of CNY in DeWitt, who was working with the firefighters, texted Farrington.

--------!

Farrington was working on his car at his Syracuse home around 11:15 p.m. when he received the text. The 32-year-old Corcoran High School grad was familiar with the state park. He dropped what he was doing, grabbed his climbing gear and headed to the park.

A park police officer briefed him on the situation and told Farrington the dog was nearly impossible to reach, he said.

Shortly before midnight, Nate Farrington, a rock climber from SUNY Cortland who had been contacted by an area veterinary clinic, arrived and began working to free the dog from the narrow opening. The rescuers who were already on site described the man's ability to reach and secure the dog as "amazing."

After being freed from the deep opening, Remy was provided with oxygen and transported to the Veterinary Medical Center of CNY for treatment; she was battered from her fall and time upside down in the deep crevice, but she is expected to fully recover.

Retired Ark. Nurse Devotes Her Pension to Running Food Pantry

Retired Ark. Nurse Devotes Her Pension to Running Food Pantry
Charolette Tidwell is tapping her retirement funds and working, unpaid, six days a week to feed those in need in her hometown.

"The community that I was raised in did this," Tidwell said. "My mom did it. The folks at the church did it. The nuns at the school that I went to elementary school did it," Tidwell pointed out. "We were mentored into this kind of work. Service was something that I've always been involved in."

The retired nurse works, unpaid, at the food pantry six days a week. She hands out 500,000 meals a year, helping to shore up a town that has gone through layoffs and closures of factories, according to NBC.

"I was raised in poverty, and I understand all the issues that go along with not having enough money," she said.

In 2000 Tidwell started this give-back effort after discovering that elderly people in her town were consuming pet food for protein. "Allowing the generation that raised us to go to the point that they're eating cat food and dog food—I can't imagine that," the retired nurse told the news channel. "I think it's a forgotten population."

white potatoes making up for 80% of vegetable consumption in the America

USDA: Americans Are Eating Dangerous Amounts of Sugar, Not Enough Healthy Food
The USDA just published its 2015 Scientific Report of Dietary Guidelines.

http://www.alternet.org/food/usda-americans-are-eating-dangerous-amounts-sugar-not-enough-healthy-food
On Feb. 20th, the USDA published its 500+ page report:2015 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. The year and a half long study analyzed scientific, nutritional, agricultural and public health data to determine what and how Americans should truly be eating.

Two of the realities they found are pretty horrific:

"About half of all American adults—117 million individuals—have one or more preventable, chronic diseases, and about two-thirds of U.S. adults—nearly 155 million individuals—are overweight or obese."

Changes in diet and lifestyle could help most of our nation's population; intense methodology and evidence analysis proves that "The U.S. population consumes few vegetables" and falls short in many areas of nutrition. With white potatoes making up for 80% of vegetable consumption across the country, statistics show that access to nutritional food and education about what to eat is imperative.

But the big question is-- what should we eat? While the USDA doesn't create a specific diet or meal plan, general guidelines should help to improve the way many Americans eat and think about food.

Eat your veggies, enjoy a Mediterranean-style diet.
"Dietary patterns with positive health benefits are described as high in vegetables, fruit, whole grains, seafood, legumes, and nuts; moderate in low- and non-fat dairy products; lower in red and processed meat; and low in sugar-sweetened foods and beverages and refined grains."

Baby orangutans thrive after rescue from being kept as human baby-like pets

https://news.vice.com/article/a-crying-baby-orangutan-named-budi-highlights-indonesias-exotic-pet-problem

A Crying Baby Orangutan Named Budi Highlights Indonesia's Exotic Pet Problem
Budi, a small baby orangutan who was kept in a chicken cage and fed only condensed milk for 10 months, is recuperating at an animal shelter in Indonesia after coming close to death from malnourishment and neglect.

Budi's owner recently handed him over to local wildlife rescuers in Ketapang, Indonesia. The man had been keeping the endangered baby ape as a pet. In parts of Borneo and Sumatra — two islands in Southeast Asia — the animals have been threatened by mass deforestation, poaching, and smuggling for the illegal exotic pet trade.

While it is illegal to keep orangutans as pets in both Indonesia and under the the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, the practice is common and authorities rarely prosecute owners who keep primates in captivity. The animals are often kept at homes as a status symbol, where they treated like human babies.

Budi arrived at International Animal Rescue's Orangutan Rescue Centre in a critical state, his rescuers said. He was severely emaciated, anemic, and swollen with fluid because he had been given no protein and survived only on liquid. He was also suffering from a metabolic disease affecting his bones and was unable to move, rescuers said.

"We cannot even imagine how much pain this small baby has suffered," Dr. Karmele L Sanchez, IAR's Programme Director in Indonesia, said shortly after he was rescued. "His eyes fill with tears every time he's moved by the doctors and he screams in pain. It's really amazing that Budi has been able to survive this long

riot police had to protect bishop at ordination. accused of sex abuse coverup Pope Francis dont care

Chile bishop ordained amid protest over alleged sex cover-up

SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) — A bishop was ordained in southern Chile on Saturday amid riot police and shouting protesters who accuse him of covering up crimes of a mentor the Vatican has sanctioned for abusing young boys.

Hundreds of churchgoers dressed in the black of mourning denounced the 58-year-old Rev. Juan Barros as he took over as bishop of the southern city of Osorno. Many called for him to immediately resign.

Police had to escort Barros out of the church after his ordination, which was attended by only 15 of the country's 35 bishops and about 20 of the 35 priests in the diocese some 580 miles (930 kilometers) south of Santiago.

While Barros himself is not accused of molestation, at least three victims of sex abuse say he was present when they were molested by the Rev. Fernando Karadima in the 1980s and 90s.
The controversy has been closely watched by victims, advocacy groups and lawmakers as a test of Pope Francis' promises to crack down on clerical sex abuse.
