Televangelist Creflo Dollar wants $300 donation per person so he can buy a $65million jet

One popular pastor is looking to the sky for help.

Televangelist Creflo Dollar has asked 200,000 followers to donate $300 apiece so he can buy a luxury jet to preach worldwide.

The appeal, originally posted on Creflo Dollar Ministries' website but apparently since taken down, is called the Project G650 Campaign. It's named for the Gulfstream G650 aircraft that Dollar's Georgia-based World Changers Church says it needs after an older plane was grounded.

"We believe it is time to replace this aircraft so that our Pastors and staff can continue to safely and swiftly share the Good News of the Gospel worldwide," the copy read.

"... Therefore, we are asking members, partners, and supporters of this ministry to assist us in acquiring a Gulfstream G650 airplane so that Pastors Creflo and Taffi and World Changers Church International can continue to blanket the globe with the Gospel of grace."

According to outlets, the jet costs about $65 million.

Fort Hood former sex assault prevention officer organized sex parties for high ranking officers

Gregory McQueen, a Fort Hood noncommissioned officer, was accused by a female private of recruiting her into a "prostitution ring."
He was supposed to prevent sexual assaults in the Army.

Instead he pimped out cash-strapped soldiers at Fort Hood to make some extra money — all to his wife's knowledge, according to a report.

Gregory McQueen, a former sexual assault prevention officer, made headlines when he was arrested for persuading at least two women to join his Texas prostitution ring two years ago.

The 39-year-old's sexploits are now out in the open. He pleaded guilty Thursday to 15 charges, including for recruiting prostitutes.

Not only did McQueen bring the poor women into his filthy clutches — making at least one prove her skills in the boudoir by having sex with him — but he also sold their services at kinky sex parties he organized for higher-ranking officers, according to documents obtained by the Daily Beast. He also kept naked pictures of his prostitutes to show off to potential clients.

McQueen, a recreational gospel band saxophonist, was financially strapped, according to a report by the U.S. Army's Criminal Investigation.

Doomsday Seed Vault Adds Tree Seeds for First Time

Seeds from Norway spruce and Scotch pine will be the first from forest trees to be stored in the Svalbard Global Seed Vault, located deep within the Arctic mountains of a remote island in Norway’s Svalbard Archipelago.

The vault, which was opened in 2008, is designed to be a storage site of last resort for millions of species of plants. Seed banks from around the world store seeds there, until now mostly for food crops, in the event that a cataclysmic event destroys a crop elsewhere. The Svalbard seeds then could be used to restart the plant species.

There are 840,000 varieties of food crops in the vault. Tree seeds were added to back up existing conservation sites. “The possibility to have seed samples stored in the vault is a great opportunity to complement our forest tree gene conservation, which is based on in situ gene reserve forests,” Mari Rusanen, a researcher for Natural Resources Institute Finland, told the BBC.

There are 218 tree seed lots, provided by the Norwegian Forest Seed Center, that were selected for the vault. The oldest one, from 1938, is a pine sample from Tranøy in Norway that still has a 78% germination potency.

The design of the vault, cut deep into rock and permafrost 800 miles from the North Pole, ensures that it will survive all human and natural disasters. Even if power to the site is cut, the frozen seeds will remain viable for a long time. “The vault can therefore be considered the ultimate insurance policy for the world's food supply,” according to Crop Trust. “It will secure, for centuries, millions of seeds representing every important crop variety available in the world today.”

Nestle boat sails the Amazon Rivers selling sugared junk food and sugary baby formula

Brazil has an obesity problem among its kids. The documentary "way beyond weight"Focused on the problem with obesity in Brazil. Kids w diabetes, knees that hurt, hooked on chips and sugar.

At The one hour Six minute (1.06)mark the documentary Brazilians boarding a Nestle boat and leaving with sugary junk food and baby formula.

Article from 2010 but new to me:
The boat, with more than 1,000 square feet of supermarket space, will journey to 18 cities, reaching 800,000 potential consumers in Brazil, and will even provide access for the disabled and elderly.

But how can these poor Bralizian residents even afford to purchase processed foods when they are probably struggling as it is? No worries, Nestle has that little problem all figured out too. According to the article:

Nestle sells 3,950 products in “popularly positioned” formats designed for low-income consumers. Smaller packs allow poor consumers to afford branded goods like richer shoppers rather than turn to generic alternatives. The Swiss company has a team of 7,000 saleswomen who peddle packs of Nestle goods door-to-door in Brazilian slums.

Translation: Because Nestle knows that poor people cannot afford the same super-sized packages commonly sold in the West, the company sells starter products to get poor customers hooked on their brands. The threat of "generic alternatives" looms large because, god forbid, these people figure out that juice is just juice and brand really makes no difference. The strategy of hooking poor people on smaller, cheaper goods is commonplace but was pioneered by the tobacco industry, which still sells single cigarettes in developing world. (The practice is banned in most other nations.)

And what, pray tell, will the floating supermarket carry? Surely, necessary food items for these hard-to-reach residents. Bloomberg.com notes, "The vessel will carry 300 different goods including chocolate, yogurt, ice cream and juices." Yup, all the essentials. But wait maybe Nestle is taking care of the poor's nutrition needs after all: "The company often adds nutrients such as iron, zinc, iodine and vitamin A to address deficiencies among the poor." How heartwarming.

cop fired. pressed his knee against woman's throat until she passed out. didnt seek medical attn

Police officer fired after brutal footage showed him forcing his knee against female suspect's neck causing her to pass out in Denver holding cell
James Medina accused of using inappropriate force on Seryina Trujillo
Presses his knee against her throat during scuffle until she goes limp
Medina didn't seek medical attention for suspect or report use of force
He has appealed sacking, saying Trujillo was scratching and biting him

Out cold: Trujillo collapses on the floor. Police administrators said Medina didn't seek medical attention for her, didn't seek the help of other officers to subdue her and didn't report the use of force +6

disciplinary report states that Trujillo was handcuffed and led to a squad car. While in transit, she spit into the face of Denver officer Cheryl Smith. She also kicked Medina in the head, who responded – again, according to the report – by punching her in the face.

Trujillo was charged with assault on a police officer, interference and resisting arrest. After being arrested, she was put in a holding cell at the station. The full video of the incident, which includes audio shows Medina instructing Trujillo to remove her belt and shoes. Trujillo removes her belt, but a scuffle ensues.

Over the course of the recording, which goes one for about a minute, Medina can be heard telling Medina not to bite him. At one point, while holding Trujillo down on a bench, Medina’s knee appears to press into her neck, at which point she appears to pass out. Medina pulls off her shoes, after which, Trujillo’s limp body slides to the floor.

According to the disciplinary report, which the Denver Post quotes, Medina used "inappropriate force when he engaged in a physical struggle" with Trujillo. The department has also stated that the officer should have requested the aid of a female officer. What’s more, after the incident, Medina did not seek the help of any medical personnel, did not report his use of force to his superiors, and "did not prepare a Use of Force Report."

Hillary Clinton's popularity remains high, outstripping GOP rivals, poll finds

Hillary Clinton's popularity remains high, outstripping GOP rivals, poll finds

Hillary Rodham Clinton is not only the best-known, but also the most favorably viewed of the potential presidential candidates from either of the two major parties, according to a Gallup poll released Thursday.

The poll was conducted Monday through Wednesday of last week, mostly after the news broke about Clinton's use of a private email account while she was secretary of state, but before the news conference this week in which she addressed the issue.

Roughly nine in 10 Americans said they knew enough about Clinton to have an opinion, and the poll found that 50% viewed her favorably, while 39% had a negative impression. On both counts, that put her in better position than any of the potential Republican candidates at this early stage of the presidential race.

Clinton's favorability has declined since she left the State Department, as Americans have begun to see her as a presidential candidate, rather than in the more non-political role of the nation's top diplomat. When she left the agency, about two-thirds of Americans had a favorable view of her, a number that has dropped steadily as partisanship has taken its inexorable toll.

'I felt disrespected': No charges for Ferguson residents arrested in raid

'I felt disrespected': No charges for Ferguson residents arrested in raid

Exclusive: Lamont Underwood, Iresha Turner and Martez Little were taken from home in early-morning swoop by heavily armed police — they were handcuffed and questioned after two officers were shot but were later released

------

Shortly afterwards, pictures emerged showing police breaking into the attic of a residential home in Ferguson via a rooftop. The three residents of that house described to the Guardian hours later how they had been handcuffed by St Louis County officers and taken from their home on Dade Avenue after a dawn swoop by heavily armed police.

Police took away a pistol that Turner told them they kept in the attic in case it was needed for self-defence, she told the Guardian. “It was not to be used, not to hurt anyone,” she said. “It was for protection.”

“I feel disrespected,” said Underwood, 47. “I kept telling them I didn’t know anything about who shot the cop. Eventually they said they believed me. It was terrifying. It was disturbing. They had guns drawn and were yelling you’re the reason we are here. We need you. I kept telling them ‘I ain’t seen nothing. I ain’t see who shot the police. Period. I heard gunshots and people started running.”

Turner said: “It was 3am and we were lying in bed. Suddenly there’s banging at the door. We hear ‘it’s the police it’s the police we know you’re in there come out. I look outside and there are six or seven police they had a tank-style vehicle, a truck and a helicopter it was ridiculous.” We were forced outside. I looked down at my chest and there was a red dot on my chest. I said ‘I surrender I surrender please don’t shoot me. I said I’m not the shooter I’m not involved. They said we were acting shady but I said what would you do if 15 police were outside your door with guns. I’m a woman of faith.”
