Quiverfull of Shit: a Guide to the Duggar's Scary Brand of Christianity
Women must obey the orders of men, in all cases
Quiverfull of Shit: a Guide to the Duggar's Scary Brand of Christianity
Pride insisted that no woman could possibly find true happiness without submitting to her vision of Christianity: Relinquish control of your womb to God, and exist only to please your husband, give birth, feed everyone, and educate your children in the homealmost certainly without having received any formal higher education yourself.
From the moment a Duggar in possession of a vagina is born or married into the family, she falls under the control of Christian Patriarchy. The wife is forever under the authority of her husband, and a daughter is completely subservient to her father until the day he finds a suitable husband to take up the role. The women of Quiverfull are never supposed to disobey their male authority figure, ever, even if its something they find immoral. Because they think God would rather you kill a guy because your husband says so than to disobey the orders of a man.
Women arent supposed to work outside the home, and if the father cant find anyone for his daughter to court and marry, they have to live at home to take care of the other children. (Sorry, Jana Duggar.) College? Whats that? Theres no room for individuality for men or women when youre immediately dictated into a role based on the kind of genitals you have.

71 year old widowed Los Angeles home owner has no running water. survives on 50 gallons a week
s Tillman got a jump on the rest of us when it comes to water conservation.
The 71-year-old South Los Angeles homeowner had no choice.
Last August, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power shut off the church-going widow's water service because Mrs. Tillman had fallen behind on her payments after a series of setbacks. She lost her job as a delivery driver, her leaky pipes left her with a $7,000 plumbing bill she's still paying off, and her Social Security check wasn't covering her expenses.
The things we take for granted flushing the toilet, running a bath, washing the dishes all became additional challenges for Mrs. Tillman. But she's learned to improvise.
"I'm going to write a book on how to survive in L.A. without water," Mrs. Tillman told me as she demonstrated how she hoists the five-gallon water jugs she fills at a nearby water machine.
She bent over, tilted one of the heavy jugs and rolled it along the floor of her living room toward the kitchen.
"Let's say I wanted to put this one on the kitchen sink," said Mrs. Tillman. She then squatted like a sprinter in the starting blocks, raised one knee, and hoisted the jug onto it with a grunt.

Advertising newsletter PennySaver shuts down; hundreds lose their jobs
Employees said they were told late Friday that the company was ceasing operations immediately, without warning or further explanation.
They said, Thats it. Were done. Were closing. Everybody pack up your things and leave,' said one employee, who asked that her name not be published because she was unauthorized by the company to talk to the news media.
The Brea company employed hundreds of people and circulated by mail throughout Southern California.
Employees said they were not given their final paychecks and were not told how to extend their healthcare coverage.
PennySaver Chief Executive Ronald Myers said in a statement Sunday that the company was forced to shut down after its lender unexpectedly ceased our funding.

barrel bombs have decreased life expectancy in Syria by 20 years. dropped 50 times a day
Turkey (CNN)In the last five years, life expectancy has dropped by nearly 20 years in Syria. It is an astonishing figure.
And the reason is not because of deadly infectious diseases or lack of clean water, although those are problems there as well. Instead, it has to do primarily with rusty old barrels that are packed with explosives and hurtled out of helicopters onto large neighborhoods. These barrels often contain nails, wire, glass and anything else that can brutally maim and destroy a human body.
The images are awful to imagine, and even worse to see.
According to the Syrian Civil Defense, barrel bombs, as they are called, are now the greatest killer of civilians in many parts of Syria.
Every time one of these barrels strikes, it is the seismological equivalent of a 7.6 magnitude earthquake, and it happens around 50 times a day. While I spoke to James Le Mesurier in Southern Turkey last night, he received word that three more barrel bombs had fallen in just the past few hours. He also told me that when this happens, there is no one for the average citizen to call. "You can't dial 911. You can't dial the fire service. You can't call the local police department. They don't exist."
James is the architect of an organization called the White Helmets that is trying to fill that void. In the process, they hope to accomplish much more as well. These plumbers, postmen, teachers and other civilians are training and joining forces to become a medical and rescue team. They would like to reverse the drop in life expectancy and offer some relief to the countless civilians who have become increasingly desperate, forced to leave their homes and even move into parts of the country now controlled by the Islamic State.

Waiter fired over racist receipt should have known slur would be printed:
Dakota, whose father is the restaurant's general manager, joined the staff this February, the former waitress said.
The waiter who wrote the N-word on a New Orleans restaurant receipt knew what he was doing when he unleashed the racial slur that caused intense backlash and calls for boycotts, according to one former coworker.
"I printed those receipts 50 times a day. I know for a fact he knew it would show up on his receipt," a former Huck Finn's waitress told the Daily News. "I was like, are you that hateful that you would put that on the receipt?"
Dakota Crochet, 23, was fired from the French Quarter sports bar this week after the phrase "N----- 100% dislike" appeared on a check he gave to a group of black customers Thursday.
One of the diners, Liryca Neville Branch the daughter of New Orleans musician Cyril Neville is now mulling a lawsuit and demanding a personal apology from both the canned waiter and the restaurants management.

NY. poor kids whose parents couldn't afford $10 sat in dark auditorium during carnival day
?w=720&h=480&crop=1No party for the poor.
PS 120 in Flushing held a carnival for its students on Thursday, but kids whose parents did not pay $10 were forced to sit in the auditorium while their classmates had a blast.
Close to 900 kids went to the Queens schoolyard affair, with pre-K-to-fifth-grade classes taking turns, each spending 45 minutes outside. The kids enjoyed inflatable slides, a bouncing room and a twirly teacup ride. They devoured popcorn and flavored ices. DJs blasted party tunes.
But more than 100 disappointed kids were herded into the darkened auditorium to just sit or watch an old Disney movie while aides supervised the music, shouts and laughter outside still audible.
Modal Trigger
Kids whose parents werent able to pay the $10 admissions fee sit out the carnival in the schools auditorium.
The must-pay rule excluded some of the poorest kids at the elementary, where most parents are Chinese immigrant families crammed into apartments and struggling to keep their heads above water, staffers said.
Its breaking my heart that there are kids inside, one teacher said.
The teacher hugged a 7-year-old girl who was crying hysterically.

Homeless blind man robbed of his white stick by cruel thug is helped by Good Samaritan
Source: mirror
A Good Samaritan has helped a homeless blind man to replace a guide stick stolen by a cruel thief.
Rough sleeper Lee was alone outside The Co-Op in Piccadilly Gardens when a callous thug swiped his stick and ran off while pretending to be blind.
The 34-year-old, who does not want to be identified and is using an alias, was left distraught after the shocking incident.
Faith in humanity restored: Andy Healey, Lee and Homeless Aid Worker worker Sareena Ali
But after hearing his heartbreaking story through an appeal in the M.E.N. blind man kind-hearted mechanic Andy Healey, 37, came forward and agreed to help provide a new stick for Lee.
----
I actually went to Stockport's mobility centre to get the stick. I told them what had happened and why I was after one and they just handed it over free of charge.

this couple deserves public shaming - played around with beached dolphin

Various sources identify the incident as occurring in Lima, Peru and indeed several (now defunct) petitions were circulated around the time the images emerged calling for the identification and prosecution of the pair which one publication names as Judith and Dick.
A spokesman for PETA told Huffington Post UK: "These callous and frankly idiotic individuals need to be found and prosecuted for cruelty to animals.
"Dolphins are highly intelligent, sensitive, and self-aware animals, and it is never acceptable to treat them as mere play things. They live in tight family units with bonds that may last a lifetime, and these tourists' actions may have cau
