WKRP "As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly."

It's a bit of a DU tradition and I've not seen it posted, so here we go-

MAGA encounter with employee at Trader Joe's.

So I get up to the cashier and she spots my Mickey Mouse-shaped American Flag pin, apparently mistaking it for an "I Voted" sticker.

She- Oh, did you early vote.
Me- I'm excited that I get to do that on Monday with my son.
She- Where can I early vote?
Me- Told her when, where and how, then finished with- "I know that's a lot of info, but I'm a Precinct Committeeperson and wanted to give you the full picture."
Me- Also, if you don't live in that precinct, don't forget your State-issued ID, as they don't have the poll books for every precinct.

-then things go sideways-

She-Voter ID should always be shown to keep illegals from voting.
Me (trying to remain chill)- When you register to vote, you already have to prove you're eligible to vote.
She- But how do we know it's the registered person who's voting?
Me- We have biometric identification, where the poll workers check your signature against what's in the poll book.
Me- Voter ID is unneeded and basically designed to disenfranchise POC, elderly, people who don't drive. We should all be able to vote.
She- Well, we need to keep America great.
Me- America was always great (glancing around for any reactions - none - just uncomfortable folks in line)

I managed to get that all in while I was begin rung-up, but later wondered by TJ's doesn't have a 'no politics - no religion' policy.
As always, I thought up my zinger AFTERWARDS and should have said my stock line "A working-class person voting for Republicans is like a chicken voting for Col. Sanders."
Briefly toyed with reporting her to management, but didn't want to get her written-up or fired, over her foolish/uninformed comments.

Even if you're already at peak outrage, this one needs your attention, BIGLY!

Trump is trying to install Brian Benczkowski, who represented Russia’s Alfa Bank, to head the DOJ Criminal Division.
Please strongly consider calling your Senators to express your disapproval!

Here's the quote from Senator Dick Durbin-
Remember Brian Benczkowski? He represented Russia’s Alfa Bank and was a top staffer to then-Senator Sessions. Senate Republicans plan to vote next week to confirm him to head the DOJ Criminal Division. Heading the DOJ Criminal Division is a critically important job. This person will supervise over 600 federal prosecutors handling thousands of cases and investigations, and will oversee sensitive matters such as the criminal investigation of Michael Cohen.

Benczkowski has no prosecutorial experience. He showed poor judgment by choosing to represent Alfa Bank while he was seeking a DOJ job despite reports that Alfa was under criminal investigation. And he won’t commit to recuse himself from Russia-related matters if confirmed. Why does President Trump want Brian Benczkowski for this important job? Why not find an attorney who has actual prosecutorial experience and who is free and clear from Russian connections? And we still don’t know the full story behind Alfa Bank and what they did in 2016.

In May I joined my Senate Judiciary Democratic colleagues in calling for Benczkowski’s nomination to be withdrawn. See our letter here:

Anybody here interested in banning bump-stocks?

Of course you are!

Here's a link to- The Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives Bureau (ATF) Proposed Rule: Bump-Stock Type Device
https://www.regulations.gov/comment?D=ATF-2018-0002-0001

Please consider taking a few minutes to let them know how you feel.
As of now, there are over 21,000 comments and I imagine the reichwing fever-swamps are mobilizing to push their pro-death agenda.

I can't imagine any rational argument why something like this should be legal-

Feds Say They've Detected Apparent Rogue Spy Devices In D.C.

In response to a query from Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden, DHS said that it has "observed anomalous activity in the National capital Region (NCR) that appears to be consistent with International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) catchers."

The agency added that it believes "the malicious use of IMSI catchers is a real and growing risk." Wyden wrote to DHS in November asking for information about the use of IMSI catchers by foreign intelligence agencies.

The devices, which can be as small as a suitcase, work by mimicking actual cell towers. NPR's L. Carol Ritchie explains:

"IMSI catchers trick cellphones into thinking they're connected, as normal, to a network like Verizon or AT&T. But the devices hijack the phone's signal, and in some cases, intercept the contents of calls and texts. The IMSI catchers take advantage of a vulnerability built into the system. Phones using 3G or 4G technology can authenticate cell towers, but phones on older 2G systems cannot tell between real and fake towers."

Putin spiked Romney nomination to SOS. (More evidence Trump's his puppet)

https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2018/03/12/christopher-steele-the-man-behind-the-trump-dossier

One subject that Steele is believed to have discussed with Mueller’s investigators is a memo that he wrote in late November, 2016, after his contract with Fusion had ended.

This memo, which did not surface publicly with the others, is shorter than the rest, and is based on one source, described as “a senior Russian official.”

The official said that he was merely relaying talk circulating in the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but what he’d heard was astonishing: people were saying that the Kremlin had intervened to block Trump’s initial choice for Secretary of State, Mitt Romney. (During Romney’s run for the White House in 2012, he was notably hawkish on Russia, calling it the single greatest threat to the U.S.)

The memo said that the Kremlin, through unspecified channels, had asked Trump to appoint someone who would be prepared to lift Ukraine-related sanctions, and who would coöperate on security issues of interest to Russia, such as the conflict in Syria.

If what the source heard was true, then a foreign power was exercising pivotal influence over U.S. foreign policy—and an incoming President.
