UPDATE: Rev. Nancy Jo Kemper to call for Bevin impeachment over bloodshed comments
WTVQ Web Desk 2 9/13/2016

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WTVQ) – Reverend Nancy Jo Kemper is holding a press conference at 3:00 p.m. in the State Capitol Rotunda to call for the impeachment of Governor Bevin.

A press release from Kemper’s office says she believes that Governor Bevin’s “call to shed the blood of fellow Americans is unconstitutional, and an impeachable violation of his sworn oath to uphold the laws of the Commonwealth.”

Arrest warrant issued in assault of 69-year-old female protester at N.C. Trump rally

Arrest warrant issued in assault of 69-year-old female protester at N.C. Trump rally
By Fred Barbash September 14 at 4:09 AM

Police in Asheville, N.C., have issued an arrest warrant in connection with an assault outside a Trump rally on a 69-year-old protester wearing an oxygen tank to treat a lung disease.

Things got uglier as people were leaving, she said, when she taunted them, saying “‘You better learn to speak Russian,'” a reference to Trump’s praise for Russian President Vladimir Putin. “‘The first two words are going to be ha-ha,'” she told WLOS.

At that point, a man “stopped in his tracks, and he turned around and just cold-cocked me,” punching her in the face.

She said she fell on the tank she carried in a backpack and was treated at a hospital for sore ribs, a sore jaw and a scrape on her elbow.

On Tuesday, police said they issued a warrant for Richard L. Campbell of Edisto Island, S.C., in connection with the assault on Teter. He could not be located for comment.

Harvard Study Finally Admits Drug Prices Are High Because Govt Grants Big Pharma A Monopoly

Harvard Study Finally Admits Drug Prices Are High Because Govt Grants Big Pharma A Monopoly
BY REALITIES WATCH · AUGUST 28, 2016 By Matt Agorist

In what can only be described as paradigm-shattering research on drug prices, the Journal of the American Medical Association has officially recognized why drug prices skyrocket in America. Big pharma is granted a monopoly by the state which effectively eliminates their competition and allows them to charge any price they want — so they do.

A glaring example of the staggering discrepancies in American drug prices can be seen in the remarkable drug for Hep C, sofosbuvir. Sofosbuvir boasts a near miraculous cure rate of 84-96% for Hep C.

However, the American version of the drug Solvaldi by Gilead, which has an FDA-granted monopoly protecting it, will cost patients a mountainous $84,000.

In India, however, Gilead has to compete in a free market. Competitors, of which there a many, using the older, much cheaper, and equally effective drug, have driven the price down to a mere $4 a pill. This makes the total cost of curing Hepatitis C in India’s free market — $336.

Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin Says Conservatives May Have To Turn To Physical Violence

Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin Says Conservatives May Have To Turn To Physical Violence
“Whose blood will be shed? It may be that of those in this room,” Bevin said.
09/13/2016 09:20 am ET Sam Levine Associate Politics Editor, The Huffington Post

Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin (R) said on Saturday that conservatives may have to turn to physical violence to protect their values.

“I want us to be able to fight ideologically, mentally, spiritually, economically, so that we don’t have to do it physically,” Bevin said during his speech at the Values Voter Summit in Washington. “But that may, in fact, be the case.”

Bevin went on to say that he believed the U.S. would survive a Hillary Clinton presidency, but it might require bloodshed.

Picture a plain the size of India made of grass, exposed dirt, and the smoking remnants of vegetation. That’s what humanity has gifted the world since the early 1990s thanks to logging, mining, energy exploration, development, and other agents of landscape destruction.

The planet lost roughly 1.2 million square miles of wilderness over this period, equivalent to one-tenth of its total stock, according to a new study in Current Biology.

Biden: Community college should be free
By Tim Devaney - 09/08/16 12:39 PM EDT

Vice President Biden on Thursday doubled down on a proposal to make attending community college free for students.

“The president and I and Hillary [Clinton] are talking about free community college education,” Biden said during a speech to the Center for American Progress.

“I don’t know of any businessman that believes 12 years is enough education to compete in the 21st century,” he added.

A maker of deadly painkillers is bankrolling the opposition to legal marijuana in Arizona

A maker of deadly painkillers is bankrolling the opposition to legal marijuana in Arizona
By Christopher Ingraham September 9

The campaign against marijuana legalization in Arizona received a major infusion of cash last week from a synthetic cannabis drugmaker that has been investigated for alleged improper marketing of a highly addictive prescription painkiller, according to campaign finance reports.

The $500,000 donation from Insys Therapeutics, based in Chandler, Ariz., amounts to more than one-third of all money raised by Arizonans for Responsible Drug Policy, the group opposing legalization. It's one of the largest single contributions to any anti-legalization campaign ever, according to campaign finance records maintained by ballotpedia.com.

Insys also manufactures the deadly painkiller Subsys fentanyl. The company is facing state and federal investigations, as well as a shareholder lawsuit, over allegations that it improperly marketed the drug to doctors in an effort to boost sales.

In February, a former sales rep for the company pleaded guilty to fraud charges stemming from a kickback scheme involving Subsys fentanyl purchases. Last month, two former employees pleaded not guilty after being arrested for participating in a similar fentanyl kickback scheme.

A Whistle-Blower Accuses the Kochs of “Poisoning” an Arkansas Town

A WHISTLE-BLOWER ACCUSES THE KOCHS OF “POISONING” AN ARKANSAS TOWN
By Jane Mayer , 12:00 A.M.

In June, Koch Industries, the conglomerate owned by the billionaires Charles and David Koch, launched a new corporate public-relations campaign called “End the Divide,” to advance the notion that Koch Industries is deeply concerned by growing inequality in America.

An ad for the campaign urges viewers to “look around,” as an image of an imposing white mansion is replaced by one of blighted urban streets. “America is divided,” an announcer intones, with “government and corporations picking winners and losers, rigging the system against people, creating a two-tiered society with policies that fail our most vulnerable.”

The message was surprising, coming from a company owned by two of the richest men in the world, who have spent millions of dollars pushing political candidates and programs that favor unfettered markets and oppose government intervention on behalf of the poor.
