While it probably won't happen, it could.
Republicans would take a step back from this insanity if one thing, and only... one thing happens.
They really get what they deserve...
They are creamed so bad,
Beaten so bad, that some sanity returns.
All teabaggers defeated, and more progressives elected.
We take strong control of House with our majority of 30 to 40..net change of say 70 seats..
and maybe gain 8 or 9 Senate seats.
Total destruction of their insanity,
then they will change.

Hope to see you next week sometime.

Two college students, Frank and Matt, are riding on a New York City
subway when a beggar approaches them asking for spare change.
Frank adamantly rejects the man in disgust.
Matt, on the other hand, whips out his wallet, pulls out a couples of
singles and gladly hands them over to the beggar with a smile.
The beggar thanks him kindly and then continues on to the other
Frank is outraged by his friend's act of generosity.
"What on earth did you do that for?" shouts Frank. "You know he's
only going to use it on drugs or booze."
Matt replies, "And we weren't?"
I didn't see the threads had already been posted by someone else..
I am very tired...maybe I should self delete... ...Stuart..
Huffington Post and American Blog:
The Susan G. Komen foundation caved today. Kinda. They issued a statement apologizing for the mess they created this week when they cut funding for Planned Parenthood breast exams for poor women, seemingly under pressure from far right politicos and anti-choice groups. But Komen's apology is slightly lacking. And according to their own CEO last night, they still can't approve future grants from Planned Parenthood. Unless she was lying.
In the apology Komen says that they'll continue Planned Parenthood's current funding, and they're changing their "no investigations" rule to say that it must be a criminal investigation, and conclusive. Okay, but the current funding wasn't at issue. Komen had always said they'd continue the current funding, so that's a red herring. The issue is next year's funding, which Komen just turned down. And on that account, Komen now says this:
"We will continue to fund existing grants, including those of Planned Parenthood, and preserve their eligibility to apply for future grants, while maintaining the ability of our affiliates to make funding decisions that meet the needs of their communities."
also in General Discussion, this thread, essential the same is running:
RW Catholic Group Confirms: Komen's announcement simply a PLOY
hlthe2b....put this up at 11:55 am today, ct..
From the release:
The events of this week have been deeply unsettling for our supporters, partners and friends and all of us at Susan G. Komen. We have been distressed at the presumption that the changes made to our funding criteria were done for political reasons or to specifically penalize Planned Parenthood. ,,, They were not
"Our original desire was to fulfill our fiduciary duty to our donors by not funding grant applications made by organizations under investigation." We will amend the criteria to make clear that disqualifying investigations must be criminal and conclusive in nature and not political. That is what is right and fair.
Italics are mine..._______________________________________________________________________________________
Lie number one:....."They were not".........
Their original changes were made to specifically penalize Planned Parenthood..that has already been posted at DU..
Lie number two:.."Our original desire was to fulfill our fiduciary duty to our donors by not funding grant applications made by organizations under investigation.."
...Also..their original desire was to suck up to some right wing doners...who demanded that Komen not fund grants to PP and stem cell research...
My guess is 50 percent of the people who used to contribute, will not from now on.
It is that simple, we are watching the self distruction of a well known brand..
Took years to build up, Days to self destruct...
This time for political reasons...
These people who run this organization deserve it.
But, it has happened before, and it will happen again..
This is the strongest statement on this topic I have ever seen. Please do not be offended by this link..
It really is worth 4 minutes of your time..Sorry if mentioning GD gets me in trouble..
HAGERSTOWN, Md. -- A discharged Marine private who slit his wrists in a suicide attempt is fighting his military conviction for deliberately injuring himself, arguing the punishment is inconsistent with the armed forces' efforts to battle a rise in suicides during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Caldwell was sentenced to 180 days in jail and a bad conduct discharge. Military rules allow an appeal after a guilty plea in some cases, but Caldwell's initial appeal to the Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals was denied in December. His lawyer, Navy Lt. Mike Hanzel, said this week he will ask the military's highest court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces in Washington, to hear the case.
Has the U.S. Military Gone Insane??
BAGHDAD Iraqis were outraged Tuesday to learn that the Marine considered the ringleader of a 2005 massacre that left 24 of their countrymen dead in 2005 was sentenced on Tuesday to a reduction in rank but avoided any jail time after pleading guilty the day before to a reduced charge.

A documentary directed by Léa Pool. 98 minutes. Opens Feb. 3 at Yonge-Dundas, Carlton and Kingsway. PG
Pink ribbons leave some seeing red in Quebec-based director Léa Pools compelling documentary about breast cancer fundraising. It comes to theatres after its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last fall.
Pink Ribbons Inc. is a quietly effective, often emotionally searing doc that questions how far the millions raised through marketing campaigns tied up with pink ribbons go toward stopping the disease that kills 59,000 North Americans annually, let alone finding a cause.
Generous fundraisers are lauded for their contribution, but cautioned to think before you pink while corporations who make profits from pink merchandise are treated with disdain.
If people actually knew what was happening they would be really pissed off, says Barbara Brenner, executive director of Breast Cancer Action San Francisco. They should be.

About Stuart GI thought I knew a lot, and I found out... how little I knew about what I know. And how much more there is to learn, if I listen and read what others have to say.
