Republican Belief in Evolution has Plummeted In Recent Years: TPM

Stupid is what stupid is.
That is what this poll says.
And boy, as if we did not know, they are very stupid

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/poll-republican-belief-evolution

Dylan Scott – December 30, 2013, 12:02 PM EST

Belief in evolution among Republicans has dropped more than 10 percentage points since 2009, according to a new poll by the Pew Research Center.

Pew found that 43 percent of Republicans said they believed humans and other living beings had evolved over time, down from 54 percent in 2009. More (48 percent) said they believed all living things have existed in their present form since the beginning of time.

Not really new, from earlier in the year, but worth looking at again. I don't think I saw it before.

Wells Fargo to Pay Fannie Mae 591 Million in Mortgage Settlement

Source: LA Times

December 30, 2013, 7:21 a.m.

WASHINGTON — Wells Fargo & Co. said Monday it has agreed to pay $591 million to Fannie Mae to settle disputes over soured mortgages the bank sold to the seized housing finance giant during the subprime housing boom.

The agreement covers loans originated by Wells Fargo before 2009 that Fannie Mae was trying to force the bank to buy back. The deal "resolves substantially" all repurchase issues related to those loans, the company said.

Wells Fargo will pay $541 million in cash to Fannie Mae, with the rest covered by credits from earlier repurchases.

Short Discussion on Word of Mouth Advertising. re: Obamacare,

No matter what the media says about ACA or Obamacare, word of mouth will make it a huge success. The Republicans won't be able to deal with that . Why? Because peoples lives will be saved and those people will tell other people. That is far more powerful than Fox newshit, or anything else. and.. Life savings of families will be protected. And those people will tell other people and that is more powerful than anything. and...Sons and daughters of families will get to a doctor sooner because of ACA. And those families will tell other families about their children's illness being diagnosed early. Word will get around. That is more powerful than anything . It may take a while, but word will get around. Also, most will remember the trashing that all Republicans gave this law. The mainstream media was central to that trashing and people will not forget the lies of the media, because that trashing was so powerful and consistent. And Word will get around...

Why??? So Much????

Ans..A huge amount of the ticket goes to the distributor and the film makers..The movie theaters get a very small percentage of the
ticket. So they usually charge a whole lot for the extras to make profit... ................one more interesting fact

Even with the above..60 percent of movies lose money..some lose a whole lot of money. 20 percent come out even, and only 20 percent make a profit. WHY?? Production costs are enormous. Especially with all the special effects and so on. Some dramas are much less expensive, but do they make money? Many films brake even only with sales and rentals on the net and at stores. The economics of the movie business suck....but..say 50 bucks for a family of four at a matinee. Let's try that same family at a major league baseball game?
WELL>>>>>>>>>>maybe 2 or 300 dollars. Haven't been to a pro football game in 50 years..Haven't got a clue on that..Just trying to tell the truth and put things in perspective.....(oh, going to most parks is free..) but one beach in Evanston Illinois charges 5 bucks on a nice summer day for all........

He did the right thing, found and returned $300,000 in cash in his cab..Huff Post

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/12/25/cab-driver-returns-cash_n_4500125.html

(Reuters) - A Las Vegas taxi driver has been hailed for his honesty after ensuring that $300,000 in cash found left in his cab was returned to its rightful owner, the Las Vegas Sun reported on Tuesday.

Gerardo Gamboa discovered the cash inside a bag that an unidentified passenger left behind in the taxi's back seat early Monday after a successful night of gambling, the newspaper reported.

Gamboa's employer, Yellow Checker Star Transportation, later rewarded the cabbie for his rectitude by giving him a $1,000 bonus and a dinner out for two, and named him the company's driver of the year, the newspaper said, citing accounts from Gamboa and his company.

It was not clear whether the owner of the cash would also reward Gamboa.

Free the Nipple (NSFW)

A new movie is coming out, about nudity and how bad that is supposed to be, and violence that is shown everyday. This is a you tube video from the director of that movie. Decide for yourself which is worse...violence or a nipple. .Planned to be released on June 1, 2014..Yes, this video does show some nipples, and a little police violence too. I recall that the movie Sin City got an R rating, so much violence (toward the end of Sin city there was a animated castration) and that film was praised..Here is the link at Internet Movie Data Base on "Free the Nipple" for more info........ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2298394/?ref_=nv_sr_1

How some people can be wrong, and some people can be correct

Why Barack Obama Will Not Win
By Steven M. Warshawsky

There is palpable anxiety, even despair, among many Republicans and conservatives over the possibility that Barack Obama will be elected president this November. This anxiety is being fueled by the mainstream media's fawning coverage of Obama's every word, while shamelessly downplaying John McCain's campaign;..................................

I don't share this anxiety. For months now, I have been reassuring my right-leaning friends that Barack Obama will not be elected president. If I were a gambling man, I would buy lots of McCain stock on Intrade. Why am I so confident that John McCain is going to win the election? In short, because Barack Obama is not an acceptable choice to lead the country. Let me explain:.....

Election 2008 Prediction: Obama wins by 5 percent; we will all be depressed
from..."Phillip Greenspun's Weblog"

December 12, 2007 @ 10:12 pm · Filed under Uncategorized

In the great tradition of pundits, I will put forth a definite prediction for the 2008 Presidential election here. If the prediction proves true, I will publish a gloating posting in November 2008. If the prediction proves false, I will never refer to it again

The Republicans will lose the 2008 election. People are tired of war. Churchill was victorious in World War II and nonetheless his party was voted out of power in 1945 because, presumably, Churchill reminded the British of their sufferings against the Germans. The Administration and the media have characterized what we are doing in Iraq as a war and the press coverage has communicated that we are losing that war. Thus the Republicans remind Americans not only of war but of losing a war.....

_______________________________________________________________________________________________
What is the point?

A lucky few will guess right about the future, and most of us will guess wrong. I didn't think Obama had a chance in a thousand in 2007, and neither did most of us. The idiot Republican on top..well I suppose he lost all of his money. Six and a half years ago, who could imagine that we would be discussing the roll out of a moderate health care plan for millions who have no insurance at all that is backed by the federal government. That the same plan had been ruled constitutional by this Supreme Court, and as many as one million had tried to sign up in the first few months? Who knows who will be President in 2016? I haven't got a clue.. Not me. That is three years away...

Four things to do after your credit card has been hacked: CNN Money, google business news

http://money.cnn.com/2013/12/19/technology/security/target-credit-card/

By Emily Jane Fox @emilyjanefox December 19, 2013: 10:57 AM ET

NEW YORK (CNNMoney)

As many as 40 million Target shoppers who hit stores in the three weeks after Thanksgiving had their credit and debit card information stolen.

If you've visited a Target (TGT, Fortune 500) over the past several weeks, there are four steps you should take immediately to protect yourself.

1) Check your statement. It may seem obvious, but the first step you should take is looking for any charges you don't recognize on your statement.

Don't just look for large charges, either. Hackers often ping an account with micropayments of only a few cents to check the viability of the account. So if you see purchases of 6 cents or 11 cents, that could be a sign your information has been compromised.

2) Call your credit card company, bank and Target. Credit card companies generally offer customers fraud monitoring services at no cost, and customers aren't on the hook for any fraudulent charges. Typically, the card issuer or the merchant is responsible for those costs.

Unfortunately, there is a bit of an ad at the end of this article. Still, note that credit card companies usually monitor unusual charges..I personally would not use a monitor service, but that is up to each reader. This hacking at Target is really something.

Here is an additional list with 9 things to do (excuse the link, ideas are still ok) :

Stange story about two broken cordless phones, and this is true..

Last March, my cordless phone system broke down. It was only 5 years old, but that I found out that is not so bad. These were cheap pieces of crap. So, I was going to go out and buy new ones. I had a cordless phone by this computer, and one in the basement. Those broke..

Two chord phones exist connected to a land line.., one about 20 feet from the computer, in another room on this floor, and one on the first floor. I tend wait till I buy stuff...so a month goes buy and another month and so on, and on and on...and here is the odd part about it..
..................................................................................................................................................................
So the phone rings and I got to get up from the computer and pick up the phone in the next room. I guess it rings 4 times a day when I got to get up and get the phone. Now, lets see...April, May, June, July, Aug, Sept, Oct, and Nov....Let's not count Dec and March.

8 months getting up to get that phone, 30 days a month, average,.....30 x 8 = 240 x (four time a day) 4 = 960...

So, I have gotten up to get the phone about a thousand times in a 8 months when before, the phone was by the computer..I didn't get up at all..........

I am not sure what that means..I think it is a good thing. But I thought I would share this here in the lounge....Say what you think...thanks for letting me share..............................Stuart

Free Tip #2...An easy, very cheap way to clean tarnished discolored silverware

Don't buy any fancy chemicals or polish. Run each piece silverware underneath very hot water for a while at a very fast speed.
The hot water will polish it. Be sure to hold the piece as far away from the faucet as you can get. When the water falls a greater distance it cleans and polishes better. Then, if you want, take a piece of paper towel and polish it. Nothing added. It may take a couple of sessions of this for very bad tarnish, but it works. I found some silverware that had been sitting in the drawer for 17 years and was almost totally discolored. After a couple of sessions, one spoon looked like brand new. If you want to rub it more, just use your fingers on it, they work just fine.
