FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) -- Life has become a little easier for Margie and Alvin Tso.

The couple who raised eight children in the LeChee area of the Navajo Nation did so without a power line running to their home. For Margie Tso, that meant laundering clothes in a tub with a washboard and cooking food on a wood stove. The children did homework under the light of a kerosene or gas lamp and did not have television.

At night, the lights from a nearby power plant illuminated their ranch, but decades would pass before a power line was extended to their home. When Margie Tso heard of a project to connect her home and dozens of others to the power grid, she watched as each power pole came closer and closer. On Monday, the Tsos had electricity for the first time.

Their children "grew up a little bit on the rough side, and so did we along with them," Margie Tso told The Associated Press. "But we made it through, and now we're going to enjoy these lights."

Electricity is a basic necessity in most people's lives but one that is considered a luxury on portions of the Navajo Nation. Across the 27,000 square-mile reservation that extends into Arizona, New Mexico and Utah, an estimated 15,000 homes do not have electricity, said Deenise Becenti, a spokeswoman for the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority.

Nevada Cattle Rancher..vs Waco...

The incident began when the ATF attempted to raid the ranch. An intense gun battle erupted, resulting in the deaths of four agents and six Branch Davidians. Upon the ATF's failure to raid the compound, a siege was initiated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the standoff lasting 51 days. Eventually, the FBI launched an assault and initiated a tear gas attack in an attempt to force the Branch Davidians out. During the attack, a fire engulfed Mount Carmel Center and 76 men, women, and children,[ including David Koresh, died.

Much dispute remains as to the actual events of the siege. A particular controversy ensued over the origin of the fire; a government investigation concluded in 2000 that sect members themselves had started the fire. The events at Waco were cited as the primary motivation for the perpetrators of the Oklahoma City bombing that took place exactly two years later in 1995.(.bombing killed 168 people and injured more than 680 others).....(April 19, 1995)

So, avoiding even the possibility of something like Waco, is in my opinion, a very good thing. Lots of talk, no one hurt.. Let people talk. When we avoid even the possibility of lots of deaths, and worse, that is wisdom...
Maybe, we have learned something.

George W Bush,"Art" and "Dirty Jokes"

I believe that this "Art" crap is a tool by the mainstream media to somehow resurrect the name of Bush. Further, I do not believe that the former Iraq Invasion "decider" has the brains to come up with the idea to be an "artist." I think he was advised after a time, that this would be the best way to somehow get the name Bush renewed and raised up. An "artist" is a quiet kind of person that stays out of the lime light. Present the "so called art" give a decent speech or two, not written by him, and take away the stigma and hate he created. He is an "artist". Let us judge his "art" .. Make the way for his brother, Jeb. The mainstream media goes along. Dick the devil takes a little of the heat now and then, and the name Bush is raised up. He is ok, he is an "artist" now...even tells a joke or two.... Nope..

George W Bush is a liar and a killer. Tens of thousands lost their lives due to him. He did it and he should be tried and convicted. Not looked up in any way. He and the media are out to con the U.S again. Not Me.

"In light of Obamacare achieving its goal of 7 million initial insurance sign-ups, William Kristol's 1993 memo urging his party to block health care reform at all costs seems prescient. In it, the then-GOP operative's message was remarkably candid: it's a "serious political threat to the Republican Party."


Kristol argued that it would cast Democrats as protectors of the middle class and "strike a punishing blow" to GOP ideals about the evils of government.

"The long-term political effects of a successful Clinton health care bill will be even worse -- much worse," Kristol wrote. "It will relegitimize middle-class dependence for 'security' on government spending and regulation. It will revive the reputation of the party that spends and regulates, the Democrats, as the generous protector of middle-class interests. And it will at the same time strike a punishing blow against Republican claims to defend the middle class by restraining government."

Two decades later, Democrats have achieved their century-long dream, defeating the GOP's revived Kristol-esque strategy to destroy health care reform at all costs. While the law still faces many challenges, conservatives who broadly predicted it would collapse under its own weight are forced to reckon with the unsettling fear that health care reform might succeed.

This is a great article at Talking Points Memo. It discovers where the total and complete negativity on any kind of government sponsored health care may have originated. A William Kristol 1993 memo on a Clinton program. "Block health care reform at all costs." That is exactly what they have done. Even if it results in hundreds of thousands , millions of uninsured. And death.. They don't care. They have never cared

Posting on the Internet can be hurtful, and dangerous..Here is why.

The internet is not a letter, it is not a research project, it is a "post." Sometimes, or even often, I just write a post, and my little finger on my right hand hits the."enter key" on the computer and up it goes. That post could be one out of a hundred but , it goes up there with the rest, and I have said what I got to say. Good for me..
.... But often with me, I do not reread the post, or think about it, as I would a letter to someone. It is not revised or even spell checked. (I used to teach students how to write research papers..always revise them, look them over..etc.) But here, it is posted, along with many others. Quickly and on to the next story or post. It is instant. It is what I do.

Sometimes, here and in other places, my post was too quick and my meaning is not clear. Very rarely, it hurts someone, almost always by mistake, but up it goes anyway. Fortunately, for me, this is usually very minor. But I know many instances where this kind of posting, (in other places..) without thinking, and quickly, has done damage to the writer and many others. I am sure many examples can be given. But, I need to take some time and think about what goes up .... before I hit the "enter key" with my little finger on my right hand.. I might add, I guess that is what .."Preview" is for, but I want to put it up now, and not wait two minutes..

March 2014 marked the first time in more than a decade that there were zero U.S. fatalities among American troops engaging in combat, according to numbers from the Department of Defense.

After a decade at war in the post-9/11 environment, with major wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and smaller conflicts in the various other countries where the U.S. uses more covert methods to fight against terrorism, the lack of combat deaths in March 2014 marks a milestone. In Iraq, the death toll reached 4,474 before the last soldier fell in November 2011. For years after the war’s launch in 2003, no months passed where at least one American didn’t die in battle and then only towards the end of the conflict did the numbers taper off enough to have a month where the only fatalities were non-combat related.

Based on information collected at the website iCasualties, which pulls from Pentagon data, it is the first time since July 2007 that no Americans were killed in Afghanistan in support of Operation: Enduring Freedom. The worst single month for U.S. forces in that conflict was July 2010, amid the summer fighting season, during which 65 Americans died. At that point, 98,000 American forces were stationed in Afghanistan amid the surge of 30,000 additional soldiers into the country. To date, 2176 U.S. military personnel have lost their life in Afghanistan.

The real power...of "word of mouth" advertising..

I like to follow movies and how much they make a week in the theaters. One movie caught my eye in 1998, "Everyone Loves Mary"
A really crude but funny film. Released on July 15, it was 2nd or third in order of most money brought in for a week. This went on for several weeks..but after 6 or 7 weeks..it had worked its way up to number one, the most popular film in the country for that week in the theaters..I think it was Labor Day Weekend. That had never happened before or since
.....that a movie went from 2nd or 3rd over a number of weeks to number one. Why? Because people talked about how funny it was/is.. and then people went to see it..... Even long after it was out and should have kinda slipped away.... and..In my opinion it does have some of the funniest scenes ever put on film..(that is my opinion)..Yes, people talked to one another and the truth is..at least to me..this is a very funny movie. Word of Mouth..the most powerful of all kinds of advertising...

ACA will get incredible "Word of Mouth" Lives will be saved, families will stay financially stable, and the word will get out. Children that would have died, will be cured because of early detection that wouldn't happen otherwise. People will talk about it and pass it on.
It is that simple. We were on the right side of helping people, and they were not. And people will talk about it to each other, and everyone will know..yes, everyone...

Obamacare Cuts Kentucky Uninsured Rate by 40 percent

Obamacare has cut Kentucky's uninsured population by more than 40 percent, signing up roughly 360,000 residents since enrollment opened up on Oct. 1, according to the Louisville Courier-Journal.


Some 75 percent of them -- 270,000 -- were previously uninsured. That means Kentucky's uninsured population of 640,000 has come down by 42 percent.

The enrollment figures, which state officials relayed to the Courier-Journal and the Lexington Herald-Leader, underscore the relative success of Kentucky's state-based Obamacare exchange compared to other states and, in some ways, the HealthCare.gov federal marketplace portal.
