You bet I'd run like Snowden!

I would run so that I could get my story out. After the first peep, I would be locked up so tight that getting anything out would be impossible.

Oh, I'm sure grabbing someone like that would be "legal" with all the Secret Squirrel laws passed.

AND after watching how Bradley Manning has been treated, I'd be gone anyway. Hopefully, I would create such a brouhaha that I couldn't be locked away like that without an uproar.

Whatever you think of him, he deserves a fair trial or is that optional too?

Yoohoo! Thomas Jefferson left a message:

Every government degenerates when trusted to the rulers of the people alone. The people themselves are its only safe depositories.

Juanita Jean smacks Gohmert about his claim that people on food stamps by king crab legs:

Louie! Dammit. There are no welfare Cadillacs.

Louie Gohmert comes down on the side of cutting SNAP funds because he has heard something really important.

The Texas congressman complained that Democrats had portrayed Republicans as evil because they supported a measure to cut nearly 2 million low-income people off the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which would mainly impact working families with children.

On the other hand, Gohmert said, poor people were using food stamps to buy food that other Americans could not afford. He claimed his “broken-hearted” constituents had repeatedly told him they had seen people use food stamps to buy king crab legs.

First off, there is no repeatedly. You live in Tyler, Texas. The Piggly Wiggly in Tyler, Texas, does not carry king crab legs and even if they did, they would probably not be safe to eat. Nobody in their right mind would buy king crab legs at the Tyler Texas Piggly Wiggly twice.

Second off, your constituents would not be “broked-hearted” if they did in fact see something like that. They would be blazing mad and break at least six of the ten commandments right there on the spot. Broken-hearted, my sweet patootie. Louie, you can go to hell for lying the same as you can for stealing.

Third off, you have king crab legs in Tyler but you don’t have cell phone cameras?

Fourth off, shut the hell up. All that corporate welfare that you just love buys yachts for CEO’s and stockholders while the rest of us can barely afford the gas to get to Piggly Wiggly.

You’re a jerk, Louie.

Sports are useless, wastes of time, and worthless? Read this: Soccer On Robben Island

SOCCER ON ROBBEN ISLAND
For years, political prisoners on Robben Island demanded the right to play soccer. Eventually prison authorities relented under pressure from the International Red Cross.

The Robben Island prison opened in the early 1960s. The Makana Football Association was established in 1966, and played off and (mostly) on until the prison closed in 1991.

The league was operated in three divisions — A, B and C, based on players' abilities — complete with trainers, managers, referees and coaches from the prison population of as many as 1,400 men.

The league had several standing committees to deal with a range of issues, including discipline and maintenance. Minutes of meetings were kept. The level of detail was meticulous.

Games were played for two hours on Saturdays for almost nine months a year.

Playing soccer was important on many levels for the prisoners:

as a diversion from the harsh realities of their lives, as physical exercise to keep their minds and bodies sharp

as a way for those from differing political factions to work and play together. For the first time, as football is established, prisoners from the ANC (African National Congress), PAC (Pan African Congress) and other smaller political formations begin to train together and play together in prison.

Soccer played a key role in shaping and sustaining a spirit of resistance on the Island. The prisoners believed they would be running their own country one day. That was partly why they organized the soccer league along strict FIFA rules. They saw it as a chance to prove they could run anything.

Nelson Mandela, Robben Island's most celebrated prisoner, along with his comrades such as Walter Sisulu, Ahmed Kathrada and others, were among a small number of prisoners kept in isolation and who were barred from watching and participating in the soccer league

Some of South Africa’s politicians and leading figures in many aspects of the socio-economic, cultural milieu played soccer on Robben Island. This includes the Minister of Defence ‘Terror’ Lekota, the Deputy Chief Justice of South Africa Dikgang Moseneke, ANC deputy president Jacob Zuma, business leader Tokyo Sexwale and many others.

All week, prisoners worked in the slate quarry in their drab prison garb. On Saturdays, when they played soccer, they wore uniforms in club colours such as maroon and white or black and silver.

Initially when the prisoners were not allowed to play soccer, they would play secretly in their cells with balls made of pieces of string, paper, cardboard and rags.

When soccer was finally allowed, the prisoners built their own goals. The league's building and maintenance committee rolled and levelled a playing field.

Training sessions were held mainly in the communal cell bathrooms- so as not to disturb other prisoners who were either relaxing or sleeping.

In later years, teams that won the various leagues were given small trophies and certificates designed by the prisoners. The prison authorities would confiscate this immediately after the awards ceremony on the soccer field.

This is just one example that shows how important sports can be.
From small local groups to major organizations, many sports have had a positive effect on communities

Sports can devolve into divisive arguments and they can present a darker side of society. On the whole, the platform sports provide for people to overcome issues and work together outweighs its negative effects.

Twitter goes all in on Paula Deen: Suggestions for her next tv show-

Despite her apology, the Food Network is ridding itself of Paula Deen by the end of the month. Come July, the celebrity chef is going to have a lot of time on her hands — perhaps she will reflect on this fiasco by making some Sambo Burgers and reminiscing about her childhood. But with her entire cooking empire at stake, what will Deen do next?

One option for celebrities who have fallen so far from grace, of course, is reality TV. But what show would be a fit for her? A few ideas — TV producers take note:

The Amazing White Race

So You Think You Can Discriminate?

America’s Next Top Racist

White American Idol

Trading Races

Color Blind Date

Better yet: let’s make her a Fox News correspondent.

A Man And His Cat Swim To Safety After Being Caught In Alberta Flooding (pic heavy)

When disaster strikes the natural reaction is to grab what is most precious to you and in the case of Kevan Yaets that was his cat Momo.
The pair got caught up in flood waters on Thursday that submerged the rather unfortunately named town of High River in Alberta.
Yaets and Momo found themselves trapped in their pickup truck after it became submerged after the Highwood River overflowed its banks and sweep downstream.

With the vehicle filling with water the pair had to escape by crawling out the back window and swimming to safety.
Momo swam bravely while his owner Yaets stuck close to his pet just in case he needed a helping hand. Fortunately for the pair they were able to reach some higher ground and got help from some other people caught up in the floods.

Facebook archive tool exposed contact info for 6 million users

Facebook's software for letting users download their data inadvertently exposed the contact information of 6 million users, the company said today in a post on its security blog. Phone numbers and email addresses that are stored as part of its friend-recommendation algorithms were inadvertently attached to their contacts' Facebook accounts, so that someone downloading an archive through Facebook's Download Your Information tool may have received other people's information.

Facebook noted that the information was not necessarily accurate or up-to-date. The company has not received any complaints that users' information was used maliciously, it said. In most cases, a person's contact information was only downloaded "once or twice," according to Facebook. Developers and advertisers cannot use the tool and therefore did not receive any contact information.

"We'll work doubly hard to make sure nothing like this happens again."

The bug was uncovered through the company's White Hat program, which enables security researchers to submit vulnerabilities in exchange for cash rewards. After verifying the bug, Facebook shut down the archive tool for a day while it fixed the problem.

Affected users will be notified by email. The company tried to play down the possible impact of breach: "Although the practical impact of this bug is likely to be minimal since any email address or phone number that was shared was shared with people who already had some of that contact information anyway, or who had some connection to one another, it's still something we're upset and embarrassed by, and we'll work doubly hard to make sure nothing like this happens again."

Kooky and Gracie

Owner had to put her dog Mauja down last Saturday. She didn't think her other animals were missing her, and then this happened. Kooky and Gracie have never slept together before, but there they were last night, sleeping in Mauja's crate.
