Williamson Gets Backing of 'Occult Task Force'

Some supporters of Marianne Williamson have organized an “occult task force” to help her campaign, the Washington Post reports.

The person organizing the task force said that a group of 13 chaos magicians, witches and energy workers were doing synchronized “gestures” to help their candidate gain more visibility during last night’s Democratic debate.

Right to Vote Restored to Coloradans on Parole

On May 28, 2019, Governor Polis signed ‘Restore Voting Rights Parolees’ into law. The law went into effect this month, allowing thousands of Coloradans on parole to register to vote and vote in upcoming elections.

“Colorado has been leading the way in expanding voting rights for all its citizens and, today, Colorado takes one more progressive step in that direction,” said Representative Herod, who sponsored the bill. “Effective immediately, individuals out of prison and on parole are eligible to vote. I encourage the more than 11,000 people who now qualify to register to and exercise your fundamental right to have a say in our democracy and in our communities.”

This new law builds on a 2018 law that allowed people on parole to pre-register to vote. People on parole who are pre-registered will automatically be switched to registered voters on July 1 as a result of the new law. In addition, the 11,467 people on parole who are eligible voters will now be able to register to vote.

“Voting is one of the single most important ways Americans can engage in their communities, and today we’re restoring this right to tens of thousands of Coloradans. This is a huge step in making our democracy more fair, just, and accessible,” said Senate Majority Leader Steve Fenberg, who sponsored the bill in the Senate. .

KY-GOV: GOP state lawmaker endorses Democrat for Kentucky governor

A Republican state senator bucked his party and is endorsing the Democratic nominee for governor of Kentucky.

The campaign for Andy Beshear (D) announced Monday that it had secured the endorsement of state Sen. Dan Seum (R).

Beshear, the state's attorney general, posted a video to his Twitter account showing him standing next to Seum as the longtime legislator gave his endorsement.

"This is about who is going to lead this state in the next four years," Seum said. "Today, we have a governor who has failed miserably in the pension issue and has spent the last year running around the state insulting everyone, including the four teachers in my family."

Seum's reference to teachers follows last year's standoff between state educators and the GOP-controlled legislature.

Uber lays off 400 people from its marketing team

Uber on Monday laid off around 400 people from its marketing team, or about one-third of the company's 1,200 people in the department, as the ride-hailing service continues to struggle to find its footing as a public company.

About 75 Uber offices around the world will be affected by the cuts, which were announced internally Monday. The decision follows a leadership shake-up in June, when CEO Dara Khosrowshahi combined the company's marketing, communications and policy teams.

Khosrowshahi installed Jill Hazelbaker to lead up marketing and public affairs in June. On Monday they announced a more centralized structure for marketing and said they want to build a consistent brand narrative across audiences, products and regions.

The money-losing startup has been plagued with questions on whether it can ever turn a profit since its underwhelming public debut in May. In its first earnings as a public company, Uber reported losing $1 billion on $3.1 billion in revenue for the first three months of 2019.

Marvel Studios Searching for Transwoman Actress for Transgender Female Character

Continuing expanding the diverse cast in their upcoming phase of movies, Marvel Studios are now looking to cast a transwoman character with filming starting in 2020. Which means that there are quite a few options being Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Loki, Hawkeye, and Thor: Love and Thunder. What’s most exciting and relieving is that Marvel Studios is actually looking for a transwoman to play this character. Which is amazingly shocking in Hollywood today with even mid-budget movies casting transgender characters with cisgender actors, let alone much larger productions like these.

Not much is known about the role itself besides her name being “Jessica,” an obvious placeholder, and that they’re looking for someone of any ethnicity in their 20s or 30s. GWW have already made the educated guess of this character being Sera, one of Marvel’s only trans superheroes. To make their summary of the character shorter, she’s a wingless angel, called an Anchorite, from the Tenth Realm, Heven. She was apart of a group of men with her being the only one that identified as a woman. She would later have a relationship with Angela, Thor’s long lost sister. Their correct assumption is that she would play Valkyrie’s love interest in Thor: Love and Thunder, fulfilling Tessa Thompson‘s declaration of Valkyrie looking for her Queen.

As for who could be cast in the role? One possibility already is Angelica Ross who stars in Pose, a series about gender-nonconforming ballroom culture in New York City during the 1980s. She has recently tweeted twice about being called by Marvel Studios specifically for an unspecified role, which could be this one.

A Wisconsin lawmaker who's paralyzed isn't allowed to call into meetings/

MADISON - A state lawmaker who is paralyzed isn’t allowed to participate in committee meetings by phone under a legislative rule that he says keeps him from performing his job as well as he should.

Democratic Rep. Jimmy Anderson of Fitchburg said the Assembly rule discriminates against him because he has difficulty getting to some meetings for health reasons. Assembly Speaker Robin Vos and other Republicans who control the Legislature have declined to accommodate his request to call into meetings.

“It’s the first time I’ve ever had to ask for simple dignities, right?” he said. “It’s a frustrating thing to have to ask just to be included in the process.”

Vos, of Rochester, noted lawmakers have accommodated his needs in other ways, such as by providing him with a computer that has voice recognition software. But Vos said he was unwilling to change the rule that requires representatives to show up at committee meetings in person.

"It just comes down to the fact that I think it’s disrespectful for someone to be asking questions over a microphone or a speakerphone when individuals are actually taking the time out of their day to come and testify in person," Vos said.
