GA-SEN: Herschel Walker Ex Comes Forward: He Attacked Me in a Rage

A former longtime girlfriend of Republican senatorial candidate Herschel Walker has come forward to detail a violent episode with the football star, who she believes is “unstable” and has “little to no control” over his mental state when he is not in treatment.

The woman, Dallas resident Cheryl Parsa, described an intimate and tumultuous five-year relationship with Walker in the 2000s, beginning shortly after his divorce and continuing for a year after the publication of his 2008 memoir about his struggle with dissociative identity disorder (DID), once known as multiple personality disorder.

Parsa, who has composed a book-length manuscript about her relationship with Walker, says she is speaking out because she is disturbed by Walker’s behavior on the campaign trail, which she claims exhibits telltale flare-ups of the disorder she tried to help him manage for half a decade.

“He’s a pathological liar. Absolutely. But it’s more than that,” Parsa, who last had regular contact with Walker in 2019, told The Daily Beast. “He knows how to manipulate his disease, in order to manipulate people, while at times being simultaneously completely out of control.” She said that when she was with Walker, he used his diagnosis as an “alibi” to “justify lying, cheating, and ultimately destroying families.”

Parsa is one of five women who were romantically involved with Walker who spoke to The Daily Beast for this article. All of them described a habit of lying and infidelity—including one woman who claimed she had an affair with Walker while he was married in the 1990s. All five women said they were willing to speak to expose the behavior of the man they now see running for Senate.

Tesla to recall 435,000 China-made Model 3, Model Y cars in China

SHANGHAI : Tesla will recall a total of 435,132 units of China-made Model 3 and Model Y cars in China due to software faults, the country's market regulator said on Thursday.

The U.S. automaker will recall 142,277 Model 3 cars and 292,855 Model Ys as the clearance lamps in some of these cars could fail to work due to software errors, leading to collision risks under extreme circumstances, according to a statement by the State Administration for Market Regulator.

Stanford is investigating its president over allegations of research misconduct

Stanford University has opened an investigation into its president, Marc Tessier-Lavigne, a renowned neuroscientist and former biotech executive, for research misconduct after experts alleged papers on which he was an author included altered images, the university confirmed.

The university’s board will oversee the investigation.

The revelations followed a report Tuesday in the Stanford Daily that the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) Journal was reviewing a 2008 paper co-authored by Tessier-Lavigne. The Daily’s story outlines how experts including Elisabeth Bik, a scientific integrity expert who has investigated image manipulation in scientific papers widely, raised concerns about a total of four papers that Tessier-Lavigne co-authored between 2001 to 2008, including two on which he was the senior author.

“The university will assess the allegations presented in the Stanford Daily, consistent with its normal rigorous approach by which allegations of research misconduct are reviewed and investigated,” the university said in a statement.

Tessier-Lavigne gained renown in biotech circles as a research executive at Genentech starting in 2003, a golden period at the company. He left Genentech in 2011 to become president of Rockefeller University, and in 2016 became president of Stanford. Tessier-Lavigne is also a co-founder of Bay Area-based Denali Therapeutics, which is developing medicines for neurodegenerative disorders. He is on the board both at Denali and at Regeneron, and previously was on the boards of Pfizer, Agios Pharmaceuticals, and Juno Therapeutics, according to his resume.

Assembly prepared to vote against seating Brooklyn Republican over residency question

In an extremely rare move, the Democratic-led state Assembly is preparing to vote against seating the Republican winner of an Assembly race in Brooklyn, Lester Chang, because he may not have moved into the borough one year prior to the election as required by law.

Earlier this month, Chang defeated longtime Democratic incumbent Peter Abbate in Southern Brooklyn’s 49th District 52% to 47%.

“He voted last November in Manhattan where he lives,” said Abbate. “And that would give him six days to say he moved, but he didn’t register to vote in King’s County until February of this year.”

By law, Chang would have to have lived in the district for one year. But because of redistricting this year, he only has to have lived in the borough. If his home is in Manhattan, he would not meet the requirement.

This issue first came up in September when the political club Asian Wave Alliance endorsed Chang over Abbate, who raised the issue. The club then called Chang back for a review.

“We asked him ‘would you be eligible to be the assemblymember should you be elected?’” says the Club’s founder Yiatin Chu. “And he said yes. We didn’t ask him to show us any proof. We have to ask the question for him to affirm that, and he did.”

According to documents obtained by NY1 News, Chang registered to vote at his Brooklyn address earlier this year, as alleged by his opponent.

For the first time in over a century, Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat carried the four big west Michigan counties (Kent, Allegan, Ottawa and Muskegon) combined. Republicans need to watch out for falling out in this populated area home to 1.25 million michiganders.

GA-SEN: Soaring voter turnout includes good news for Herschel Walker

While Democrats are giddy about the record-breaking voter participation so far in the runoff — particularly the soaring turnout from Black voters in Georgia — Republicans also have reason to be optimistic.

GA-SEN: See who is voting early in Georgia's 2022 runoff election

Propelled by that weekend of optional voting, younger Georgians are making a noticeable impact in voting numbers. As of Monday, those under the age of 30 make up 8.1% of early votes, and nearly a quarter of those did not participate in the general election earlier in November.

Many of the voters who have participated so far are typical early voters who participate regularly in elections. As of Monday, Nov. 28, roughly 96% of the 504,411 early voters who have cast ballots for this election also voted in the 2022 general election in November. 92% voted in the 2021 Senate runoffs, 92% voted in the 2020 general election and 81% voted in the 2018 general election.

Roughly 77% of early voters cast ballots in all four elections, while about 4%, or 20,425 voters, did not vote in this November's election but showed up this time.

Black voters make up roughly 29% of Georgia's 7.8 million registered voters and 38.1% of the early vote so far. The actual share may be higher, as nearly 8% voters so far have their self-identified race listed as "unknown," and state elections officials say many are likely Black.

Nearly 64% of the people that have voted also participated in the 2022 primary elections — and 58% of those people pulled a Democratic ballot, compared to 41% in the Republican primary. It is important to note that Georgia does not have party registration, so anyone can choose to vote in any primary. This year saw a notable number of Democratic voters cross over and support Republican incumbents such as Gov. Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger against Trump-backed primary challengers.

GA-SEN: Herschel Walker Only Recently Stopped Renting Out Georgia Home He Claims as His Residence

When he launched his campaign for U.S. Senate in Georgia, Herschel Walker claimed his deep roots in the state didn’t end with his days as a football legend at the University of Georgia.

It was widely known at the time that the Republican hopeful had been living in Texas for decades, though he has claimed to maintain a residence in Atlanta for “17 years.” Less widely known, however, was that Walker’s wife collected tens of thousands of dollars in rental income for that residence, according to his 2021 financial disclosure forms.

The house doubled as the Walker campaign’s first official address when he launched his bid in August 2021. Fulton County tax and property records show the home is solely owned by Walker’s wife, Julie Blanchard, who also collected rental income from 2020 and 2021 ranging from $15,000 to $50,000, according to the disclosure—defining the asset as “Georgia residence.”

Blanchard’s company also received a previously unreported $49,997 in COVID relief loans over that same period, at Walker’s Texas address, according to federal data. On one since-revised financial disclosure, Walker claimed the company had generated rental income for Blanchard, suggesting the company had an operational stake in the Atlanta property.
