In the years before her death, Naomi Judd was candid about her battle with suicidal ideation, panic attacks and the ups and downs of her mental health struggles.

That fight eventually led her to advocate for others, offering words of solace and solidarity with those who also struggled with suicidal thoughts.

Judd died on Saturday at the age of 76. Daughters Wynonna and Ashley Judd said they had lost their mother to "the disease of mental illness."

“We are shattered. We are navigating profound grief and know that as we loved her, she was loved by her public. We are in unknown territory," Judd's daughters in a statement on Saturday.

Although in some instances Judd said she had struggled with her mental health for her entire life, she often cited the close of The Judds' "Last Encore" tour in 2012 as the time when things got particularly dark.

Japan: Video shows harassment local politicians face in real life

A 29-year-old woman decides to run for a seat in a local assembly after doing volunteer help in child rearing and nursing care, only to be victimized by an abusive constituent and a heavyweight politician.

She is hospitalized after being exhausted physically and mentally.

The scenario comes from a video released on the Cabinet Office’s official YouTube account on April 12 to raise awareness about harassment against local politicians.

“The video is not only for assembly members; it is for everyone to watch,” said Seiko Noda, the state minister in charge of gender equality, at a news conference.

During her campaign, the video’s protagonist has her back rubbed by a man in her constituency.

The man also asks her to give him her cellphone number “in return for my vote.”

After the woman is elected, a politician aged 70 and known as the “boss of the assembly,” says, “I envy you because women can win elections if they are young and good-looking.”

Americans bring 'souvenir' artillery shell to Israel airport

JERUSALEM (AP) — A bomb scare set off scenes of panic at Israel’s airport after an American family showed up with an unexploded artillery shell they had found in the Golan Heights and intended to bring back as a souvenir.

Videos circulating online showed passengers ducking for cover, running and screaming at the departure hall of Ben Gurion International Airport on Thursday.

The airport authority said security officers sounded an alert when they discovered the unexploded shell. At least one person was injured after trying to run on a conveyer belt, it said.

Normal operations resumed after the shell was safely removed a short time later. The family was released after questioning.
