To me, If you really want to solve the problem of over eager electronic surveillance

The main idea on your agenda would be the repeal of the Patriot Act.

That would solve the problem of an over eager Presidents misuse of their constitutional powers.

It seems funny how congress gives the President the power to do all of this "secret data collecting" then complains about not being able to control its overreach.

Marco Rubio says hell yes to legalization in Spanish Media

Marco Rubio Effectively gives finger to red states............

Why? Because he said this -- on a Spanish speaking media outlet, no less.

“Let’s be clear,” Rubio said. “Nobody is talking about preventing the legalization. The legalization is going to happen. That means the following will happen: First comes the legalization. Then come the measures to secure the border. And then comes the process of permanent residence.”

A Picture that says 1000 words..............

It is the Patriot Act that allows the legal act of spying on American Citizens. If you do not like it, tell congress to repeal it. It is that simple.

Patriot Act Introduced in the House of Representatives as H.R. 3162

Patriot Act Introduced in the House of Representatives as H.R. 3162 by Frank J. Sensenbrenner, Jr. (R–WI) on October 23, 2001.
Signed into law by President George W. Bush on October 26, 2001
The PATRIOT Act[9] has made a number of changes to U.S. law. Key acts changed were the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 (FISA), the Electronic Communications Privacy Act of 1986 (ECPA), the Money Laundering Control Act of 1986 and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), as well as the Immigration and Nationality Act.

Various provisions allowed for the disclosure of electronic communications to law enforcement agencies. Those who operate or own a "protected computer" can give permission for authorities to intercept communications carried out on the machine, thus bypassing the requirements of the Wiretap statute.

Why Republicans Can Get Away With Ignoring Their Problems

Republicans have a problem with young voters.

Democrats have a problem with young nonvoters.

That simple equation, which applies equally to minority voters, helps explain why Republicans could enjoy another strong midterm election in 2014 without solving any of the underlying demographic challenges that threaten them in the 2016 presidential race. Next year’s election could both disappoint Democrats (by frustrating their hope of recapturing the House) and mislead Republicans (by tempting them to believe they have overcome the trends that allowed Democrats to win the popular vote in five of the past six presidential elections.) It could also highlight one of the forces that is making it difficult for either party to sustain unified control over Washington, even as they struggle to reach consensus on almost anything while power is divided.

These intertwined risks and opportunities are rooted in a new twist on a familiar phenomenon. The familiar part is the tendency of young and, more recently, minority voters to turn out in smaller numbers during midterms than in presidential elections. The new twist is that changing voting patterns have vastly raised the partisan stakes in those participation trends, creating systematic challenges for Democrats in midterm elections and for the GOP in presidential years.

It’s amazing how many women Republicans can insult in just one week

A great video from Emily’s Lists, titled #GOPHeartsLadies, walking us through the offensive things Republicans have said about women in just the past seven days.

It starts with GOP Governor of Mississippi Phil Bryant talking about how working moms are to blame for American kids having such lousy test scores.

Hypocritical Republicans Have An Obamacare Problem: they love Obamacare

Senator John Cornyn would have you believe he would repeal Obamacare in an instant to keep the size of government 'small'. There he is, right there in that video from 2012, telling all who would hear about it.

But Cornyn, like other colleagues, is a secret admirer of Obamacare. Lee Fang has unearthed their appeals for grants to bolster health care services in their states, and there are many, from all those loyal GOP Obamacare haters.

Why did all of these Tea Party Groups want a government hand out? Ie government money!

Rep. Jim McDermott (D-WA) on Tuesday questioned why tea party groups were seeking to be subsidized by the government.

At a House hearing on IRS misconduct, McDermott acknowledged the federal tax agency had inappropriately used political criteria to locate nonprofit applications that needed extra review.

“But as I listen to this discussion, I’d like to remind everyone what we are talking about here,” he continued. “None of your organizations were kept from organizing or silenced. We are talking about whether or not the American taxpayers would subsidize your work. We are talking about a tax break.”

Texas tea party leader: GOP doesn’t want black people to vote

A tea party leader in Dallas is facing a backlash after saying the Republican Party doesn’t want African-American voters to show up at the polls.

“I’m going to be real honest with you,” Tea Party leader Ken Emanuelson said at a Dallas County Republican Party event on May 20. “The Republican Party doesn’t want black people to vote if they are going to vote 9-to-1 for Democrats.”

An audio recording of his comments were published online Tuesday by the pro-Democrat group Battleground Texas.
