Media Miss Substance Of Clinton's 3 Hours And 45 Minutes Of Interviews

The media's fixation on comments Hillary Clinton made during recent interviews responding to questions about her family's wealth has obscured the substantive issues Clinton talked about during nearly four hours of interviews.

Clinton's interviews on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, Fox News, PBS, and NPR lasted for more than three hours and 45 minutes, not including commercials, according to a Media Matters analysis.

In the weeks since Clinton began promoting her book, the media has endlessly fixated on whether Clinton committed a "gaffe" when responding to questions about wealth.

GOP Pines After Bush With 'I Miss W.' T-Shirts

"President George W. Bush led our nation through some of the most challenging moments of our nation’s history — and we miss him and his leadership," reads a fundraising pitch on the RNC's website. "By sporting this comfortable, classic, American-made tee, you can share our message and help us elect principled conservative leaders to office."

The RNC may have been emboldened by a Quinnipiac University poll this week, which found that a third of U.S. voters think Barack Obama is the worst president since World War II. Bush came in second, with 28 percent naming him as the worst recent president, followed by Richard Nixon with 13 percent.

Students Joining Battle to Upend Laws on Voter ID

College Students Claim Voter ID Laws Discriminate Based on Age

Joining a challenge to a state law alongside the N.A.A.C.P., the American Civil Liberties Union and the Justice Department, lawyers for seven college students and three voter-registration advocates are making the novel constitutional argument that the law violates the 26th Amendment, which lowered the voting age to 18 from 21. The amendment also declares that the right to vote “shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state on account of age.”

Retired Army Colonel Rips Dick Cheney: He Isn't Immoral, He's Amoral

"I think amoral is a better and more precise, descriptive term. With Dick Cheney, it's all about power. Yes, it's about wealth coming from that power, too -- he's worth $70 million or $80 million now, so one can hardly say that's not the case -- but I think the power aspect of it ... is more important to him than the amassing of wealth," Wilkerson said.

He added that an amoral person makes for "a more dangerous individual" than an immoral one.

Jeffrey Toobin tells Americans be grateful Dick Cheney is back

CNN guest host Jeffrey Toobin and two of the network's military analysts concluded on Sunday that America should be "grateful" that former Vice President Dick Cheney was doing interviews, and calling for military action in Iraq even though he had been so wrong about invading the country in the first place.

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) confirmed Wednesday that he intends to sue Obama

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) confirmed Wednesday that he intends to sue the Obama administration over its use of executive actions, which have been used to push through initiatives without congressional approval.

"I am," he told reporters at a weekly briefing on Capitol Hill. His intention to sue the administration was reported Tuesday.

Asked if his plan could lead to impeachment proceedings in the House, as some have called for, Boehner demurred.

"This is not about impeachment," he said. "This is about faithfully executing the laws of our country."

The speaker declined to provide details about which executive actions he intends to challenge in court.

Fukushima Angry Japanese farmers say their animals are poisoned by radiation

Angry farmers from Fukushima brought a large cow to the center of Tokyo Friday to demand Japan's government investigate a disease they say cattle have developed since the nuclear disaster three years ago.

Operators of nonprofit "Kibo no Bokujo," or "Farm of Hope," delivered a full-size black cow to the front of the agriculture ministry to demand an investigation into why it and many other animals have developed white dots on their skin since reactors went into meltdown after the earthquake and tsunami of March 2011.

The farm is located only 14 kilometers (nine miles) from the nuclear plant and is keeping some 350 cows that were abandoned in the area when their owners had to evacuate because of radiation contamination.

"Our cows cannot be shipped as meat. They are evidence of lives affected by radiation," said Masami Yoshizawa, leader of the farm, in front of the ministry, as his supporters and media looked on.

Fellow Fukushima farmer Naoto Matsumura said: "What if this started happening to people? We have to examine the cause of this and let people know what happened to these animals."

South Dakota Republican Party passed a resolution calling for the impeachment of President Obama

The South Dakota Republican Party state convention passed a resolution calling for the impeachment of President Barack Obama Saturday.

The resolution says Obama has "violated his oath of office in numerous ways." It specifically cites the release of five Taliban combatants in a trade for captive U.S. soldier Bowe Bergdahl, Obama's statement that people could keep insurance companies, and recent EPA regulations on power plants.

"Therefore, be it resolved that the South Dakota Republican Party calls on our U.S. Representatives to initiate impeachment proceedings against the president of the United States," the resolution reads.

Allen Unruh of Sioux Falls sponsored the resolution.

"I've got a thick book on impeachable offenses of the president," Unruh said, calling on South Dakota to "send a symbolic message that liberty shall be the law of the land."

Delegates voted 191-176 in favor of the resolution. The Pennington County delegation voted 47-9 in favor of the impeachment resolution, and Minnehaha County voted 28-15 in favor. Read on...
