FOX News attacks the Pope

"Conservatives' uneasy relationship with Pope Francis I got even more complicated after he issued his recent apostolic exhortation that criticized the "idolatry of money." Judge Andrew Napolitano blasted the pope for "attacking free-market capitalism." Rush Limbaugh accused him of preaching "pure Marxism." And now, in an op-ed for FoxNews.com, editor Adam Shaw takes things one step further by calling Pope Francis the "Catholic Church's Obama," and not in a positive way...".* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down:

Fox News attacks the humble Catholic Pope and glorifies disciples of the atheist Ayn Rand. Is this just a case of politics and strange bedfellows or is Fox actually the anti-Christ? Just asking the question.

GOPer Limbaugh: `Will you please ask your breasts to stop staring at my eyes?`

In his ongoing war on decency, Republican opinion leader Rush Limbaugh yesterday made fun of both sexual harassment and the dehumanization of women.

Limbaugh was off on some tear about how liberals always want to change human nature, and how you can’t or shouldn’t change human nature, and how, apparently, it’s okay to ogle women’s breasts in public, and how it’s actually an offensive affront to men to suggest that they shouldn’t ogle women’s breasts in public.

So Limbaugh came up with the perfect solution for men who feel put upon by being asked not to sexually harass women.

“Will you please ask your breasts to stop staring at my eyes?”

anti-feminist crusader Suzanne Venker said, Women should stay home and thank men

Fox News host Anna Kooiman was advised by anti-feminist crusader Suzanne Venker to quit her job and get married because women should spend more time “thanking men” for the ability to stay home and take care of children.

In a column on FoxNews.com last week, Venker — who is Phyllis Schalfly’s niece — argued that today’s women had been deluded into thinking that they could live without a husband.

During an interview with Venker on Sunday, Fox News host Tucker Carlson was totally on board the premise of the column because he said, “I rely completely on my wife.”

Aeon bought over 1,300 tax liens of District residents, who owns this company?

Mark Alan Schwartz, a lawyer who claimed only to be representing it.

Between 2005 and 2009, with Schwartz serving as its chief legal representative, Aeon bought over 1,300 tax liens of District residents, then took these residents to court demanding payment of the lien plus legal fees. In one day in 2009, Aeon filed over 260 cases.

Kentucky Governor To Mitch McConnell: Get Your Facts Straight On Obamacare

It was just Wednesday night that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) railed against the Affordable Care Act, calling it a "catastrophic failure" for people everywhere.

Snip....

But the governor of McConnell's home state came to Capitol Hill on Thursday with a vastly different message: the health care law is working, and people in Kentucky can't get enough of it.

"I have a U.S. senator who keeps saying Kentuckians don't want this. Well, the facts don't prove that out," Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear (D) told reporters.

Beshear said more than 550,000 people have visited the state's Obamacare enrollment website since it launched on Oct. 1. More than 180,000 have called into the health care call center and about 69,000 people have signed up, or about 1,000 Kentuckians per day. Of those who have signed up, he said, 41 percent are under the age of 35.

"There is a tremendous pent-up demand in Kentucky for affordable health care," Beshear said. "People are hungry for it."

The governor also boasted of the law's economic benefits to the state. Over the next eight years, he said, it will generate $15 billion for Kentucky's economy and create 17,000 new jobs.

John Boehner Says The GOP Should Be More 'Sensitive' To Women, Support Gay Candidates

John Boehner Says The GOP Should Be More 'Sensitive' To Women, Support Gay Candidates

White House press secretary Jay Carney said during his daily briefing later Thursday that the GOP is going to need more than talking points if they want to win over women.

If Republicans truly want to help women, he said, they should vote to raise the minimum wage, which would disproportionately benefit women. He continued that GOP lawmakers should also stop trying to repeal Obamacare, which prohibits insurance companies from charging women double for insurance policies that men receive.

"The problem that Republicans have had with women isn't about language," Carney said, "it's about policies."

No Medicaid in your state? Thank the conservative group ALEC.

Another day, another document drop over at The Guardian. This time, we get to see their brag sheets about the progress they've made thwarting progress.

Reports from eight of ALEC's "task forces" shed light on just how much influence they really have over state legislators, and how much of the blame they bear for impeding implementation of the ACA.

In their Health and Human Services Task Force document, they boast that based upon their resolution to oppose state exchanges and Medicaid expansion, "just 17 states plan to operate an exchange for plan year 2014, placing the federal government in a position it had not anticipated.

Thanks, ALEC!

They're also proud of their Resolution against Medicaid Expansion, bragging that "just 23 states have plans to move forward with expansion at this time."

Conservative group ALEC pushes stealth tax on homeowners who install solar panels

(Conservatives push for a Tax increase)

An alliance of corporations and conservative activists is mobilising to penalise homeowners who install their own solar panels – casting them as “freeriders” – in a sweeping new offensive against renewable energy, the Guardian has learned.

Over the coming year, the American Legislative Exchange Council (Alec) will promote legislation with goals ranging from penalising individual homeowners and weakening state clean energy regulations, to blocking the Environmental Protection Agency, which is Barack Obama’s main channel for climate action.

Details of Alec’s strategy to block clean energy development at every stage – from the individual rooftop to the White House – are revealed as the group gathers for its policy summit in Washington this week.

About 800 state legislators and business leaders are due to attend the three-day event, which begins on Wednesday with appearances by the Wisconsin senator Ron Johnson and the Republican budget guru and fellow Wisconsinite Paul Ryan.

Elizabeth Warren: I'm Not Running For President

BOSTON (AP) — U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren is insisting she has no plans to run for president in 2016.

Speaking to reporters in Boston on Wednesday, Warren vowed to serve out the remainder of her six-year term. She's currently in her first year.

Warren has repeatedly denied she's interested in campaigning for the White House but that hasn't stopped speculation among liberal Democratic activists.

The Massachusetts Democrat says she's working to be the best possible senator she can be. She also said she's fighting for the issues she campaigned on last year in her race against former Republican Sen. Scott Brown.

Warren said those issues include holding banks and Wall Street accountable and helping rebuild the nation's middle class.
