Alison Lundergan Grimes Calls Out Mitch McConnell On Fair Pay Claims

Kentucky Secretary of State and Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes' campaign criticized Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) for claiming he has worked for fair pay for women throughout his career, pointing out that her potential 2014 rival repeatedly voted against measures aiming to close the gender wage gap.

Snip.......

However, as ThinkProgress pointed out Monday, McConnell voted against the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act and the Paycheck Fairness Act twice apiece.

Obama just launched single payer health care in the US

Did you notice? Did you see what happened when everyone was complaining about a website? Single-payer got started in America.

Vermont is using authority granted under the Affordable Care Act to start a single-payer system. Most Americans still don't know what the phrase "single-payer" even means. It had little support in Congress in 2009 and Senate "Democrats" like Nelson and Lieberman even killed the public option. But, ACA had this sweet little provision that allowed states to set up a single-payer system and now people will see it in action. You know what that means.

Darrell Issa's Traveling Obamacare Hearings Exclude ACA Supporters

WBTV 3 News, Weather, Sports, and Traffic for Charlotte, NC

In his traveling road show of “hearings” on the Affordable Care Act rollout, Darrell Issa has hand-picked the people testifying, and has excluded those who want to speak in favor of the ACA. In Gaston County, North Carolina, two women who requested to speak at the hearings told a local TV station that that they had written to Issa, saying they wanted to testify, but neither received a reply from his office.

The hearing got off to a contentious start on Friday, as people complained that they won't get a chance to be heard. They were also told they would be removed from the meeting if they spoke out of turn.

Snip........

But Ward says her message is important. The ACA offers her insurance she can afford for the first time in years.

"My president has said I hear you, I'm going to help you and frankly the way I see it is that other people are getting in the way," she says.

Dana Wilson is another Charlotte resident who wants to speak, but has not gotten a response to her request. As a teenager, she was diagnosed with MS.

"No one would insure me at all," Wilson says.

But the ACA will finally change that.

"I think if it's a true hearing than all sides should be heard," she says, "and they don't want to hear us."

Both women said that they feared "that all the negativity surrounding the ACA could somehow result in a repeal of the law."

Steve Stockman's Financial Dealings Are A Complete Mystery, Report Shows

Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) has failed to properly disclose his financial dealings as both a candidate and a congressman, the Houston Chronicle reported on Sunday.

A continuing investigation of the representative's campaign finances shows that Stockman has failed to file federally required expense documents since his 2012 campaign; those that he did file were months late and only prompted more questions.

"Presidential Trust Marketing," the business to which Stockman attributed his income in belated reports of his 2012 candidacy, was not listed in any public records, the Chronicle said.

Alan Grayson and Ed Schultz rip Issa’s anti-Obamacare events: ‘They’re smear junkies, that’s all they ever do’

Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) and MSNBC host Ed Schultz teed off on Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) on Friday for what they referred to as a “traveling circus” supposedly focusing on the problems with the Affordable Care Act while ignoring people who are benefitting from it.

“The Republicans have been crisis junkies now for months, if not years,” Grayson told Schultz. “They lurch from one crisis to the next to the next, whether it’s the government shutdown, or whether it’s the debt ceiling or anything else. Now they’re smear junkies, that’s all they ever do.”

On Friday, Issa, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, convened the first of four planned “field hearings” to discuss the act. The Charlotte Observer reported that about 200 people attended the hearing in Gastonia, North Carolina, along with some protesters who chanted, “These sham hearings waste our money.”

But while Issa heard testimony from five hand-picked people who said they have been adversely affected by the law, two women who were willing to discuss its benefits told WBTV-TV that they were denied the opportunity, including Charlotte resident Dana Wilson, who explained that, as someone diagnosed with multiple sclerosis as a teenager, she would be guaranteed medical insurance for the first time thanks to the law’s requirements.

GOP following a scripted plan to attack

I know you are shocked -- SHOCKED -- to discover that all the Obamacare noise over the last month is the product of a very carefully orchestrated public relations campaign.

New York Times:

The document, the product of a series of closed-door strategy sessions that began in mid-October, is part of an increasingly organized Republican attack on the Affordable Care Act, President Obama’s signature legislative initiative. Republican strategists say that over the next several months, they intend to keep Democrats on their heels through a multilayered, sequenced assault.

The Democratic Party has the right answers to the problems facing the United States

The politicians are just so afraid to stand by their beliefs in the face of adversity. The average democratic politician needs to learn not to fold, say it like it is, and let the cards fall where they need to fall. They will be surprised how much better off they will be in the end. On all of the issues such as Social Security to health care the democratic party has better solutions. Just learn the fact that caving does not solve anything in the long run.

Elizabeth Warren comes out FOR filibuster reform

The impetus for Warren's comments came on Tuesday, when Senate Republicans filibustered President Obama's nominee to the influential DC Circuit Court of Appeals, Georgetown Law Professor Cornelia Pillard. If she's ever confirmed, Pillard would be the fourth woman on this important federal appeals court, which decides often-consequential cases between the federal government and private parties. Senate Republicans have also filibustered Patricia Millett's nomination to the appeals court and say they plan to block another appeals court nominee, Robert Wilkins, as well.

snip.......

Warren went on: "If Republicans continue to filibuster these highly qualified nominees for no reason other than to nullify the president's constitutional authority, then senators not only have the right to change the filibuster, senators have a duty to change the filibuster rules," Warren said. "We cannot turn our backs on the Constitution. We cannot abdicate our oath of office."
