Work/live with someone that just doesn't friggin' LISTEN?!!?

I hate having to repeat myself. I hate when something is screwed up because someone didn't listen. I hate asking a question and getting some off-the-damned-wall response because someone didn't listen to the question. I hate when someone interrupts with an answer before I finish the question and then I have to repeat myself. I hate having to repeat myself. I hate when someone says, "Oh, but you told me..." no...I didn't tell you nuthin'. You told yourself that because you didn't friggin' listen.

Example A:
Me: I need to find someone that can engr...
Boss: Try so-and-so. They do silk screening.
Me: No. I need someone to engrave this.
Boss: Oh. Nevermind.

Ten minutes later. Boss: I just remembered this other guy does silk screening, too.
Me: I don't care. I don't need silk-screening. I need engraving.
Boss: Oh, I thought you said you needed silk screening.

"Senator Kyle Eats Your Brain"

This is a friend's blog. He's one of the smartest damned people I know...and more than a little cocky. Anyway, I thought this particular post of his was pretty informative. It's a rebuttal to: http://prescottdailycourier.com/main.asp?SectionID=36&SubSectionID=73&ArticleID=108538&TM=49793.89 a b.s. article by Sen. Kyl.

"He starts with the monthly employment report, that is the unexamined bottom-line number of 80,000 jobs gained (like, new jobs for everyone in the quad-city area in a month), characterizing it as "disappointing." This presumably opposed to the end of the Bush administration, where we started losing twice that many a month.

I get it, if we want to put the zoom back in the economy and make more money for the rich white guys that might trickle down to us peons, we want to see bigger employment numbers, sure."

My favorite Republican.

He's a big shot real estate broker in this town. He has more money than I'll make in a lifetime. He owns 5 different Chevy's (that alone is enough to put him at the top of my list...yep, I'm a Chevy girl) and 2 homes, both worth well over $2 million a piece.

He's my favorite client. Been working with him for 12 years. He's old enough to be my dad, and occasionally acts like he is. He thinks I'm the best graphic artist/marketer he's ever met and over the years has learned to just dump stuff on me without explanation. He knows I'll take care of it. He gives me free advice on buying a home and today...offered to help the husband and me buy the house we're renting...for free.

Yes, he's a Republican, but not a Conservative. We don't really talk politics. He agrees that being in my position in life would probably make him think differently about things. He's constantly harrassing my boss into giving me a raise (I haven't gotten a raise in over 8 years) and better working conditions (the boss is a Libertarian).

But, best of all...I've had a shitty day. He just came in to pick up his job and he made me laugh. He also made me feel good about myself. It's tough to do in this town. People want the world for a buck and then don't appreciate it when you give it to them. I still haven't gotten over the difference in attitude between here (AZ) and Chicago. I keep thinking that when someone asks for a crappy design on a business card and I give them the 4 star version that they'll be grateful. I'd say it happens about one in twenty. This guy is different. He's always amazed at what I come up with and has learned to appreciate it when I rewrite his copy. One of these days, I'll get him to realize that not every sentence needs to end in an exclamation point.

Anyway...he's my favorite Republican. He may be misguided politically, but he's a gem in this state. I'm in a way better mood, now.

I'm an idiot.

The boss is on vacation this week so I can't leave the shop. I didn't get to the store yesterday to pick up stuff for my lunch. The husband just called and asked if I wanted him to bring me something.

I said no.

I'm friggin' starving. I have a few of those icky snack bars in my desk, but...they're gross and I want a damned cheeseburger.

I hate being a burden to others so I never want anyone to go out of their way for me. Not even the husband.

Anything good in the DU Cafeteria today?

Gay couple w/ 4 kids bullied in Arizona for months, kids threatened with gun

http://www.examiner.com/article/gay-couple-w-4-kids-bullied-arizona-for-months-kids-threatened-with-gun

In the last 120 days the Bermea's family vehicles have been vandalized, with gay slurs scratched into them. Their property has been set on fire, and their home has been broken into -- again with slurs and profanity left behind. One of the children's rooms was vandalized, and they now are afraid to sleep there. Can you blame them? How would any child be able to sleep knowing that there are people outside your walls who want to do harm to you and your family? The trauma on the minds of these children is heartbreaking, as they will likely carry these moments terror with them for the rest of their lives. It is despicable, deplorable and truly tragic that these innocent children have learned at such an early age what it means to live in fear.

/snip

Just recently over the weekend of June 30th two of the children were accosted by at least two men in a white SUV, one who had with a gun! According to the new Facebook group created to support the family it was reported that a man drove along side them and another got out of the vehicle and pointed a pistol at the defenseless, blameless children. The children then fled home, with both men giving chase. One on foot, and the other slowly following in their vehicle. Upon arriving they told their parents what happened, who again called the police. Again, no leads -- and no help.
