The W*U Hall is excited to announce a new reading/discussion/practice group. It is based at the anarchist info-shop, SubRosa, on Ohlone Territory in Santa Cruz, CA. This is an in-person group, but we are making the links to the readings, discussion questions and exercises available on the W*U Hall site for anyone who is interested in connecting to this work from afar, either on their own on or in a group.

The intention of this group is to meet regularly with community, share ideas, learn and practice together at the intersection of magick, spirit and politics in order to build capacity, intimacy and a framework for other branches of collaboration to be created and supported.

Traditionally dressed Muslim woman set on fire in Midtown; police investigate possible hate crime

A 36-year-old Scottish tourist wearing traditional Muslim garb had her blouse set on fire in a bizarre incident outside a pricey Fifth Ave. boutique, police sources said Monday.

The victim noticed the sleeve of her blouse was charred and smoldering and was not badly hurt in the Saturday night attack, just hours before the ceremony marking the 15-year anniversary of 9/11.

But the attacker got away, and the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is trying to determine if it was motivated by bias toward Muslims.

The incident happened just after 9 p.m. as the woman was window shopping on Fifth Ave. by Valentino near E. 55th St.

The Jewish Left Needs To Call Out Real Anti-Semites Like Christopher Bollyn

The fact that the Brooklyn Commons, a progressive community space and café in New York, has refused to cancel an event with 9/11 conspiracy theorist Christopher Bollyn — despite calls from Jewish and non-Jewish progressive organizations and media outlets — reveals a couple of important things about the conversation around rising anti-Semitism happening in the U.S. today.

First, that the rising anti-Semitism we should all be concerned about is the white nationalist, “alt-right” kind that Bollyn propagates, not the anti-Zionism of supporters of Palestinian rights. And second, that Jewish organizations can help make that distinction for our communities and our allies so that we can fight bigotry and oppression together.

Peace in the Middle East - Federalism not territorial disintegration?

"Clearly many peoples in the Middle East have serious cultural, economic, and political grievances that need to be addressed and cannot be ignored simply by summoning the principle of national and territorial integrity. But given the risks involved in the wholesale breakup of current states and a massive redrawing of existing borders, what is therefore to be done to address the grievances of minorities?

The answer lies in less-centralised governments, greater economic and administrative autonomy for regions where minorities reside, a more equitable sharing of national resources and greater cultural freedoms. For example, practices such as Turkey's references to Kurds as "mountain Turks," - which fortunately it has now stopped doing - should be completely out of the question.

Another solution is regionalism and the encouragement of cross-border economic and cultural exchanges among those peoples who live within the borders of different states. For example, why shouldn't there be economic exchanges among Turkish, Iraqi, Syrian and Iranian Kurdistan, or joint projects sponsored by their governments?"

I am familiar with it. I've read about it.
I practice mindfulness.
I've got a consult coming up with a therapist who employs MBCT, so I'll see if it is a good match to me.
Would love to hear from anyone is doing it, or has done it.
