bucolic_frolic's JournalOMG my Eureka rumbled out
My Eureka had trouble with tight seals on the vacuum bags. A lot of junk
made it past the bag. I double filtered the motor. But the dirt eventually
ground upper engine mount. It made a lot of noise. Now all it does is smoke,
buzz, or play dead. I think it's a goner.
Now this is a simple 1970s vacuum. Hose and nozzles and carpet brush.
You could vacuum anything - sand, auto engine, crevices. So I go to
the store, they hardly make canister vacs anymore, and the ones they
do have handle grips on the hose, beater carpet heads, retractable cords,
wet/dry at the flip of a switch. They're huge and heavy. All I need is a
vacuum with a hose that is small and sucks well - i use it to pull ash from
my flue sometimes.
I need to find a 35 year old used canister vac
High Speed Internet
Every day at 1:08PM or thereabouts, my internet connection fails. It will disconnect
every 5-10 minutes for the next 6 hours.
There is usually some disruption like this around late January, mid-May, June, September, and
late December. I wonder if they are performing maintenance relative to college traffic. It could
also be heat, or changes in temperature, it's HOT here now. Once it hadn't rained in a month
and an abrupt cloudburst disconnected it in 10 seconds.
Verizon of course will offer no explanation. Asian tech support is there to soothe you and send
a new modem and book repairs.
I'm trying to find ways to run my online eBay/eTrade functions from a public WiFi such as the library.
These headaches are not worth the cost.

Senior DoJ officials have declined to release the documents on grounds that such disclosure could interfere with enforcement proceedings. In a filing to a federal court in Washington DC, the DoJ states that because of the existence of an active, ongoing investigation, the FBI anticipates that it will
withhold all records.
The statement suggests that Trumps provocative comment last July is being seen by the FBI as relevant to its own ongoing investigation.
___________
The FBIs refusal to disclose documents relating to Trumps Russia hacking invitation was made in response to a freedom of information lawsuit lodged by Ryan Shapiro of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard and the journalist Jason Leopold. They jointly submitted a Foia request last August requesting from the FBI disclosure of any and all records, including investigative records, mentioning or referring to Donald Trumps statement on 27 July 2016.
___________
Shapiro said: The DoJ/FBIs latest filing makes plain that Donald Trumps campaign trail call for Russian hacking of Secretary Clintons emails is of investigative interest to the FBI. He added: In light of Trumps sudden termination of Director Comey, this fact should significantly reinforce the widespread perception that the president of the United States is unabashedly seeking to cover up his and his associates crimes.

Democratic Senators call for probe into Icahns biofuel credit dealings
Source: Reuters
Eight Democratic Senators on Tuesday asked U.S. regulators to launch an investigation into billionaire Carl Icahns activities in the U.S. biofuels blending credit market, saying the activist investor may have violated securities trading laws since becoming an adviser to President Donald Trump.
We are writing to request that your agencies investigate whether Carl Icahn violated insider trading laws, anti-market manipulation laws, or any other relevant laws based on his recent actions in the market for renewable fuel credits, the senators said in a letter to the heads of the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and the Environmental Protection Agency.
The letter, a copy of which was seen by Reuters, was signed by Democratic Senators Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island, Sherrod Brown of Ohio and five others. The letter acts as a request, and the agencies are not required to act upon it.
Icahn became an unpaid adviser to Trump on regulation shortly after November's presidential election. In February Icahn proposed a change to the U.S. biofuels program that would ease the regulatory burden on oil refining companies - including CVR Energy Inc (CVI.N), in which he owns a majority stake.
