Grandmother and grandson visit 63 national parks on adventure of a lifetime

Joy Ryan, 92, had never seen a mountain. So her grandson decided to take her to every site that has “national park” in its name.

Together, they’ve marveled at the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, and slept beneath the stars at Joshua Tree National Park in California. They did the bridge walk at New River Gorge Park in Lansing, W.Va., rolled down a dune in Colorado’s Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, and watched brown bears catch salmon at Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park in Alaska.

“All of it has been magical,” said Brad, who moved to D.C. in 2018 and consults with various veterinary hospitals in D.C., Maryland and Virginia. “I’ve been able to see so much of the country and meet so many people with my grandma by my side.” Within the next year, they are planning to make it to the last national park on their list: the National Park of American Samoa. The final stop, they both said, will be bittersweet.“

As a grandson, watching her life story unfold completely differently than it otherwise would have, it gives me peace,” Brad said. “She finally got to start living the life of adventure she had always been waiting for, and deserved.”

Poll shows Newsom with wide lead over GOP challenger, State Sen. Brian Dahle

California Governor Gavin Newsom holds a wide lead in his bid for re-election over Republican challenger, State Senator Brian Dahle, according to a new poll from the Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies.

The poll asked voters their preference for governor in the fall general election. Newsom leads Dahle by a margin of 52% to 25%. Newsom also leads Dahle by 24-points among people considered most likely to vote in the election (55%-31%).

Approval ratings in the poll found that 53% of the state’s voters approve of the job that Newsom is doing, while 42% disapprove. However, despite the positive approval rating, voters continue to believe that California is moving in the wrong direction by a margin of 52% to 40%.

Florida Court Says Teen Not 'Mature' Enough For Abortion, So Must Bear Child

Source: Huffington Post

A Florida appeals court decided Monday to uphold a lower court’s ruling that a pregnant 16-year-old had not shown she was “mature” enough to terminate her unwanted pregnancy, and must therefore give birth.

The teen, described as “parentless” in court documents, has been petitioning the state court system to let her get an abortion without the written consent of a parent or guardian, which is required for minors under a law signed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) two years ago.

She argued before Escambia County Circuit Court Judge Jennifer Frydrychowicz that she was not ready to be a parent and did not have a job. She was living with a relative while she worked toward earning her GED.

But Frydrychowicz found that the teen did not establish “by clear and convincing evidence that she was sufficiently mature to decide whether to terminate her pregnancy,” court documents say. Florida’s First District Court of Appeals upheld the decision, with two judges on the panel concurring and one issuing a separate opinion concurring in part and dissenting in part.

Sickening. I hope someone flies her to New York, or California.

Dr. Tiller's church in Kansas where he was murdered was a polling place yesterday.

Ali Velshi just reported that on MSNBC. Very poignant. As is the new reality the Dr. Tiller's home state of Kansas now serves as an abortion services sanctuary for women from surrounding forced birth states.
