Nuclear Fuel Rod Meltdown 101- Arnie Gundersen explains Fukushima .
Nuclear Engineer: Fuel appears damaged in Fukushima Unit 4 pool and will fall apart
if they pull it up Make sure your radiation monitor works so you know whats going on when something drops (AUDIO)
Chris Harris, former licensed Senior Reactor Operator and engineer: Fukushima Unit 4, the plans are in November to start removing the fuel. The question is always, Whats going to keep the fuel sub-critical as youre withdrawing it from the pool? That hasnt been answered to my satisfaction yet because although there are a lot of spent fuel assemblies in there which could achieve criticality there are also 200 new fuel assemblies which have equivalent to a full tank of gas, lets call it that. Those are the ones most likely to go critical first. [...]

Keep batteries fresh in your rad monitor, because youre going to need to know whats going on when they drop some fuel. [...]
Some pictures that were released recently show that a lot of fuel is damaged, so when they go ahead and put the grapple on it, and they pull it up, its going to fall apart. The boreflex has been eaten away; it doesnt take saltwater very good.

Fukushima documents discuss fuel that is severely damaged inside cooling pool Illustrations of deformed or leaking fuels (PHOTO)
Research and Development Road Map for Decommissioning Units 1-4 at TEPCOs Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, July 30, 2012: Removing fuel from spent fuel pools is possible [
] However, the spent fuel has been exposed to seawater and maybe deformed or damaged [
] it is assumed that most of the fuel is intact [
] As fuel assemblies in spent fuel pools were exposed to seawater and possibly damaged, assessment of the impact of safe and long-term storage is required. [
] Fuel assemblies (Units 2-4) stored in spent fuel pools were exposed to seawater, and those at Units 1, 3, and 4 are possibly damaged due to falling debris. [
] Investigating the impact of spent fuel that was damaged or exposed to seawater on the chemical treatment, waste treatment, and product collection processes. [
] Future processing and storage methods for spent fuel removed from the spent fuel pools will be decided on the basis of assessment of its long-term soundness and the results of research and development [

Examination of Methods for Processing Damaged Fuel, etc. Removed from the Spent Fuel Pool, Page 22: Fuel in the nuclear reactor building pool is thought to be contaminated with saline from seawater, and part of the fuel may even be damaged or leaking due to the collapse of concrete fragments. [
] Specific actions 1. Study of past cases related to damaged fuel, etc. [
] 2. Examination of the impacts of damaged fuel, etc. [
] The impacts of impurities (saline from seawater, etc.) absorbed to damaged fuel [
] 3. Examination regarding the handling of damaged fuel For fuel that is severely damaged and cannot be handled by existing reprocessing facilities, methods for their acceptance, storage, and shear treatment will be examined [...]

You know that it would be true
You know that I wouldn't be a liar
If I was to say to you
Our dosimeter's are reading higher
Come on NRC, there's a Nuclear fire
Come on IAEA, it's a Plutonium fire
Going to set the World on fire.
The time to culture hesitate is through
No time to wallow in the political mire
Try now, we better not lose
And our World become a funeral pyre
Come on IAEA, there's a Nuclear fire
Come on NRC, it's a Plutonium fire
Trying to set the World on fire, yeah
The time to money hesitate is through
No time to wallow in the secrecy mire
More than try, we can't afford to lose
And our World become a funeral pyre
TV: “Japan’s worst nuclear nightmare” — Yale Professor: Fukushima Unit 4 pool “has me very scared”
One slip-up in the latest step to decommission Japan's crippled Fukushima nuclear plant could trigger a "monumental" chain reaction, experts warn.
Within days, Fukushima nuclear plant operators will begin what is being described as the most dangerous phase of the decommissioning process so far.
In an operation never before attempted, the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) will start removing 1,331 highly radioactive used fuel assemblies from a deep pool which sits high above the ground in a shattered reactor building.
The Fukushima nuclear plant's reactors were sent into meltdown by an earthquake and tsunami in 2011 in the world's worst nuclear accident since Chernobyl.
Experts around the world have warned ever since that the fuel pool is in a precarious state - vulnerable to collapsing in another big earthquake.
Yale University professor Charles Perrow wrote about the number 4 fuel pool this year in the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists.
He said one pool contains 10 times the amount of radioactive caesium present in the Chernobyl disaster and warned one slip-up with the removal could trigger a chain reaction.

Chris Hadfield ejected from movie theatre for loudly heckling Gravity
WATERLOO, ON Responding to numerous patron complaints, the staff of the Empire Theatres Waterloo reportedly removed famed Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield after he would not stop heckling a screening of Gravity, the space thriller that has recently dominated the domestic box office.
Eyewitnesses reported that during last nights 9:15pm Real3D screening of Gravity, a lone man (later identified as retired ISS Commander Chris Hadfield) began muttering under his breath and chuckling to himself. By the 30-minute mark, Hadfield reportedly made numerous rude comments such as, Nice Soyuz procedure, Hollywood! and Oh yeah, because thats what hypoxia as caused by rapid cabin decompression looks like you idiots!.
It was the damndest thing, recounted Isabelle Tremblay. My boyfriend and I were like, what a jerk, and he went back to talk to him. But then he came back to our seats and he was like Im pretty sure that was that astronaut guy. You know, from the news. So we just let him go. I mean, what do you do? An astronaut probably gets George Clooneys character struggles a little better than I do.
Hadfields alleged berating of the film continued unabated. During one crucial and deathly silent scene involving Sandra Bullocks characters desperate attempt to reach her vessel and avoid dying in the void of space, the man who brought honour and fun to Canadian space exploration let out a long, piercing, and altogether perfect fart.

NEW Bourne Movie Rips the Cover off of NSA Spying Scandal
Did Obama Authorize "Pumpkin Patch"? Does NSA know what NSA is actually doing? How Many NSA operatives watch NSA? Was Chancellor Merkel actually Velma in in the Scooby-Doo? Did Dick Cheny authorize Treadstone? Does Cheny count his silverware at night?

NASA | Canyon of Fire on the Sun
A magnetic filament of solar material erupted on the sun in late September, breaking the quiet conditions in a spectacular fashion. The 200,000 mile long filament (The diameter of the earth at the equator is 7,926.41 miles or 12,756.32 kilometers) ripped through the sun's atmosphere, the corona, leaving behind what looks like a canyon of fire. The glowing canyon traces the channel where magnetic fields held the filament aloft before the explosion. Visualizers at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. combined two days of satellite data to create a short movie of this gigantic event on the sun.
In reality, the sun is not made of fire, but of something called plasma: particles so hot that their electrons have boiled off, creating a charged gas that is interwoven with magnetic fields.
These images were captured on Sept. 29-30, 2013, by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory, or SDO, which constantly observes the sun in a variety of wavelengths.
Different wavelengths help capture different aspect of events in the corona. The red images shown in the movie help highlight plasma at temperatures of 90,000° F and are good for observing filaments as they form and erupt. The yellow images, showing temperatures at 1,000,000° F, are useful for observing material coursing along the sun's magnetic field lines, seen in the movie as an arcade of loops across the area of the eruption. The browner images at the beginning of the movie show material at temperatures of 1,800,000° F, and it is here where the canyon of fire imagery is most obvious.
By comparing this with the other colors, one sees that the two swirling ribbons moving farther away from each other are, in fact, the footprints of the giant magnetic field loops, which are growing and expanding as the filament pulls them upward.

Nigeria Demands Apology From Ted Cruz For 'Email Scammers' Rip
Source: TPM
The Nigerian ambassador to the United States demanded Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) apologize for a joke he cracked that Nigerian email scammers built HealthCare.gov, Politico reported Thursday.
Ambassador Ade Adefuye told Politico that Cruz's remark disappointed and shocked Nigerians.
We deplore the statement, and we demand an apology, and we demand it be withdrawn, Adefuye said.
It is unfair of any senator to essentially use citizens that are law abiding, to use Nigerians as cannon fodder, Adefuye said. We recognize that we have efforts on the part of Sen. Cruz to appeal to some animus in his domestic base. In the course of doing that, to allow him to ridicule a country and its citizens is completely over the top. He should not denigrate Nigerians in order to appease these domestic constituents.
Cruz made the comment at his Welcome Home speech in Houston on Monday.
You may have noticed that all the Nigerian email scammers have become a lot less active lately, Cruz said, according to the Houston Chronicle. They all have been hired to run the Obamacare website.

Has Ted Cruz already moved to quash emerging Senate deal to end the Republican shutdown?
With multiple media outlets reporting that the Senate is nearing a deal to end the Republican shutdown, one might think, it's about damn time. Well, not so fast. Because the Godfather of this shutdown, de facto Speaker of the House and sometimes Senator Ted Cruz has jumped into action:
Sen. Ted Cruz met with roughly 15 to 20 House Republicans for around two hours late Monday night at the Capitol Hill watering hole Tortilla Coast.
The group appeared to be talking strategy about how they should respond to a tentative Senate deal to reopen the government and raise the debt ceiling without addressing Obamacare in a substantive way, according to sources who witnessed the gathering. The Texas Republican senator and many of the House Republicans in attendance had insisted on including amendments aimed at dismantling Obamacare in the continuing resolution that was intended to avert the current shutdown.
If history is any guide, this is not good news for the potential deal coming together in the Senate. Mostly because the official Speaker of the House John Boehner is a coward. Boehner will be meeting with House Republicans on Tuesday morning to discuss the deal. Stay tuned.
