Poll Shows Most Americans Agree Republicans Don't Care About Them - Ring of Fire

A new poll from CNN has found that nearly three-quarters of the American public believe that Republicans in Washington, D.C. aren't focused on important issues right now. To put it another way - voters agree that Republicans don't care about them. This may sound like an oversimplification of the data, but that's really what it means. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins discusses these poll results.

Recent polling conducted by CNN shows that nearly three quarters, almost 75% of the American public, believes that the Republican Party does not give a about the issues that are actually important to the voters. Only 27% according to the report of US adults, say they think Republican leaders in the house have had the right priority so far, while 73% say they haven't paid enough attention to the country's most important problems. 42% of Republicans and Republican leaning independents, disapprove of their parties, congressional leaders, nearly half of Republicans and Republican leaning independence, 46% also say their party's house leadership hasn't displayed the right priorities. So this poll is deeper than just, Hey, three quarters of the country says you don't care about the issues that I care about. Which means, as I said, you don't care about me. Half of the Republican voters in this country say they're not doing the things we need them to do.

They're not taking care of the things that are a priority to me. So not surprising that you've got three quarters of the public saying it. Very surprising that you have half of the Republican electorate saying, these folks we just sent there, you're not cutting it. Here's where things get even more interesting, right? Because we gotta look at what do these voters want? What do they want the country? Uh, what do they want politicians to do? As CNN says, asked to name the most important issue facing the country. Nearly half, 48% of Americans cite economic issues, particularly related to the effects of inflation on housing, food, and gas prices. Other top concerns include immigration at 11%, gun violence and crime at 6%, government spending and taxes at 6%, and political divisions or extremism at 5%. And I think it's safe to say that Republicans are doing absolutely nothing about any of those things.

Now, on the immigration front, of course, republicans like to pretend they're doing something about it. They love to talk about it, but when it comes time to actually do something, they never do anything because their corporate masters don't want them to do anything because they love the cheap later labor coming across the southern border. So that's why you'll never see any real action on immigration. Uh, definitely not from the Republicans. But other than that, economic issues, inflation, Republicans campaigned on that all last year. Like, oh, look at all the horrible things that are happening under Biden's America. He's destroying the country with inflation, with gas prices. Then the election came and all of that disappeared. No more talking about it. Instead, Republicans in Washington DC are focused on stupid things like nonstop investigations into Hunter Biden, hunter Biden's, laptop Hunter Biden's artwork. They're looking at other

Stupid things like, we're gonna investigate Covid, how about you investigate how your party did nothing about it and let nearly a million Americans die from it. I know we're over a million now, but you know, almost hit a million while Republicans were in charge of things. Other than that, they're not focusing on real issues the Americans care about. They wanna abolish the I R S and implement a 30% flat tax that's going to crush the middle working class here in the United States. And the voters are paying attention and the voters aren't happy. Now, we haven't even had this new Republican Congress for a full month yet, so these numbers will change. But if they don't or if they stay this bad or get worse

Judge Says Trump Can't Escape Lawsuit From Capitol Police - Ring of Fire

A federal judge in Washington, D.C. refused to allow Donald Trump to escape a lawsuit brought by Capitol Police officers for his role in allegedly instigating the attack on the Capitol. Several other right wing groups were also roped into the lawsuit, while a few individuals - Ali Alexander and Roger Stone - were removed because the judge ruled their actions were well within their First Amendment rights. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains the ruling and what it means for Trump.

Donald Trump was once again smacked down by a federal judge last week. And in fact, it was actually the same federal judge in Washington DC that smacked him down about a year ago. In the same lawsuit as Donald Trump has repeatedly tried to get a lawsuit filed against him by col, uh, Capitol Police officers dismissed. So here's what happened. Donald Trump, of course, and several other right wing groups are being sued by the Capitol police officers for the events of January 6th, 2021. They're alleging in the suit that of course, Donald Trump is the guy who instigated all of this. He made this happen, therefore, he is liable for the damages that we suffered on that day. Now, last year, DC Federal Judge Amit meta ruled that Donald Trump did not have the immunity that he claimed to have. So you're gonna be sued by these people. And then late last week, he had to issue another ruling against Donald Trump, who once again was attempting to get the lawsuit dismissed.

Judge said, Uhuh not gonna happen. You will in fact have to face the music with this particular lawsuit. Along with, of course, the oath keepers, the three percenters and the proud boys, the judge allowed those other folks to remain in the lawsuit. But he did actually dismiss both Roger Stone and Ali Alexander, who, uh, helped organize the Stop the Steal rally. He removed both of them from the lawsuit. Uh, cuz the judge said that the behavior you're alleging those two individuals engaged in is actually protected under the First Amendment. So Alexander, of course, being the, the organizer of Stop the Steal, organizing a rally does not, you know, violate any rights you're legally allowed to do. That is what the judge is saying. And obviously he's right. You can organize a rally. You are technically not responsible for what happens after that rally if you are not the one out there telling people to go do horrible things, which, you know, to his credit, he wasn't so Alexander's removed. Roger Stone is removed. Trump however, has to go to trial. Now, obviously, Donald Trump is in fact going to appeal this as he always does. His lawyers will trot out some stupid argument that'll probably get smacked down again. But here's the thing, the more he appeals this, the longer it is delayed, justice delayed is justice denied. That is what Donald Trump seems to understand better than anybody else, and that's why he does these things. But at the same time, these officers who suffered horrific injuries, you know, physically and mentally that day, they deserve their day in court.

They deserve. And to be honest, Donald Trump deserves to be able to go to court and make his case. I don't want him dismissed from this lawsuit just because, you know, uh, you know, I want him to have to go to trial if he is truly not guilty in this. He should have the opportunity to explain that in court, but he doesn't want to. And I think we all know why. Eventually he will have to face the music with this lawsuit. He will go to trial and we'll see what happens from that point forward. But until then, we can probably expect at least a couple more appeals on this. Some legal arguments, some ranting and raving on truth social. But in the end, he will end up in court.
