Yeah, they are. Just saw Crawford and Rose on CBS a few minutes ago, inserting coverage of Issa and his team of shit head repugs as a big issue, around their coverage of Biden-Ryan's debate. Quoting a Condi Rice op-ed, of all things. Rove repug nat'l security spin.
Retailing jaw-dropping treasonous hypocrisy as 'business as usual', so Americans double-think about the repugs' sterling national security record. Repugs are 'strong' on national security and foreign policy issues.
I hope V.P. Biden does a 90 second riff on Eichenwald's NY Times story in the debate. On the one hand, we have the smirking chimp's failures to heed pre-warnings and the Dems subsequently showing the way a 'loyal opposition' acts when a foreign attack occurs against us. On the other hand, we have our Administration's 'failure' in this attack, and how the repug 'loyal opposition' acts when we've been attacked. Rhetorically ask what that dolt Issa and his party has done to investigate Eichenwald's 9-11-01 revelations.
Attack, don't defend. Take it to these creeps.

We get the same hypocritical projection from the stellar oversight efforts displayed by repug House majority party Rep. Issa's lightning-quick investigation of 9-11 (2012) 'national security failures'.
They're all working to promote the gaffe machine who generated massive ill-will for American foreign policy in every nation he visited, while on tour to display his foreign policy chops 2 months ago, and who answered a total of 3 questions during that whole time from his press pool.
Their patented 'wrong about everything' strategy is designed to give all of us heart attacks, like Belushi giving a Week-end Update editorial speech. Or at least to temporarily incapacitate us during the time we spend keeping our lunches down.

TPM did 2 pieces of analysis of CNN's debate take. They covered CNN's John Berman 'fact-checking' Romney's $5 trillion dollars in 'closed-loopholes' claim, where Berman 'checks' by saying 'if you take him (Romney) at his word', he has a way to pay for his tax cuts for the rich, so the claim that Romney has no way to pay for the $5 trillion tax cut is false. And TPM linked to CNN's 'snap poll' of the debate, which 'showed viewers think Romney won', where the sampling appears to be devoid of anyone who isn't a Southern white person over 50 years old.
The debate tape compilation of Romney continually talking over Lehrer, refusing to shut up or concede that his time is up, shows mass media's magic debate moderation deference. The repug candidate, who answered a total of 3 questions to his press pool during his disastrous 'foreign policy tour', is taking it to the press (the debate moderator), playing smash-mouth on the media for the edification of his yahoo followers. He usually is afraid to answer questions from the media, is much more comfortable telling millionaire backers what he truly thinks. But media must maintain debate decorum, unlike the typically weak repug candidate. The same 'level playing field' that promoted appearances of competence and competitiveness for Reagan, Poppy, Quayle, Perot, Stockdale, Shrub, McCain, Palin, is now being used for lame and lyin romney-ryan.
He gets caught telling the truth to his rich buddies, then debate media lets him tell simplistic lies aggressively for his rank-and-file followers, who understand power-dynamics in a way that even toddlers do. Then those unwashed masses proudly crow about their candidate's performance, and CNN will do a poll that shows the repugs' craven candidate 'dominated the debate'. Those rank-and-file fools will now be encouraged to loudly let us know their one-line take aways from this debate. That prospect isn't too intimidating for our rank-and-file, and the campaign is long used to executing triple-bank shots in the media to get around media's systemic problems.
Re Syria and Turkey, Turkey's military propensity to roll over international borders can't have escaped the attention of Syria's gov or the amorphous armed groups that are trying to overthrow it. Someone in Syria fired first anyway, wonder who it was.
+1. Sen Boxer and Rep. Tubbs-Jones contested the '04 Ohio Electoral vote report.
It was only the third time in US history that an objection occurred (Tilden-Hayes 1877, Nixon-Wallace 1969, are the other 2.) Their objection used U.S. Code Title 3, Chap. 1, Sec. 15. A big part of the '04 election theft they contested came from Sproul and Associates work on 'voter registration drives'.
Mark C. Miller described Sproul as the RNC's 8th largest expenditure in the '04 elections, and described Sproul's work record as 'involving fraud, deception, copyright infringement, the systematic disenfranchisement of untold thousands of Democrats and Independents, and the secretive reregistration of still further thousands of Republicans without their full consent' (p. 154, 'Fooled Again').
Sproul used bogus pre-election petition and registration drives in Ohio (and here in Pittsburgh, and all over the US), to get the info of voters, who they would then re-register to other party affiliations and other precincts. The confusion this caused at the polls helped back the lines up for hours, and resulted in thousands of provisional ballots being cast, then discarded and not counted (because the voter wasn't registered to vote where they thought they were).
"Sproul '04" made the repugs' hysterical accusations against ACORN for 'voter fraud' in '06, '08, and '09 a little hard to swallow. I wrote Maddow's show during the pimp O'Keefe fake scandal, to request that they do a show on 'Sproul vs. ACORN', because it would give the good side a chance to go on the attack and expose repug hypocrisy, while simultaneously defending ACORN against false charges.
It was icing on the cake that Sproul's people falsely used the names of progressive groups like America Coming Together and America Votes to fraudulently re-register voters, since the America Votes group was a coalition effort that included ACORN (!), along with the NAACP, NARAL, the Sierra Club, MoveOn, etc. AP reported on 9-21-04 that AV said they were filing a lawsuit to stop Sproul from misusing their name. So there actually WAS some voter fraud committed by 'ACORN', but it was really just committed by Sproul repugs while they were illegally using ACORN's name. And the fraud only benefitted the repugs.

Hopefully, some Pitt Labor Day marchers will continue walking past the parade route's terminus a few hundred yards to support UNITE hotel workers' action picket of the Hilton Wyndham, by Point State Park. Our Transit Workers, CWA & IBEW telecom workers, Postal Workers, SEIU, Teachers, and Ironworkers, have already had high-profile mass actions all around town.

Bev Harris's Black Box voting, Brad Blog and the Velvet Revolution, Fitrakis and Wasserman's FreePress.org, Mark Crispin Miller. If anyone I know has a problem, I'll encourage them to contact everyone. That way, even if their individual vote doesn't get counted, their attempt to vote will count.
Our county ran out of provisionals in 82 Dem stronghold voting precincts in '04, which backed up the voting lines, for hours in some places, so people who couldn't wait were blocked from voting. Our elections people had printed < 20 % of the ballots Philly supplied for the same population, and Rove's Sproul \ Lincoln Strategies repugs had been merrily re-registering voters to different precincts and party affiliations, using bogus petition drives for 'auto insurance reform' and 'protect battered women' to get the voter's info. Allegheny County ranked # 1 in the nation for reported complaints (6,089) about election problems, surpassing Wayne County Michigan and Broward County Florida.
About half of the 8,000 provisionals cast were later found 'invalid', according to elections officials. But notice there have been zero cases of voter I.D. fraud prosecuted in PA, and you have to sign an affidavit to cast a vote. I think that shows that the 'invalid' ones were invalidated due to repug election fraud activities, or Attorney General Rubble would have prosecuted someone, and Breitbart and O'Keefe would have done a hard-hitting expose of 4,000 'illegal' attempted Dem voters.
Marty Levine from Pgh's City Paper covered one woman's two month effort to see if her provisional ballot 'counted'. After calling and also punching her nine digit number into the county elections web-site many times, she finally on Dec 3 got the message 'Counted because.' . Not a comforting message, but her efforts and media coverage of them means her vote attempt definitely counted for something.

Labor is actually following in the footsteps of the late June Occupy NatGat in Philly.
Since Occupy Pgh and Spring 99 (We are One & Working America) have already been involved in local actions in support of the AFT, the CWA\IBEW, the ATU, the SEIU, UNITE, and the Postal Workers, it would be nice to get the word out to all of those other AFL-CIO allied trades, and the allied progressive movements that are repped by Occupy and Spring. Your post and the monthly International IBEW paper are the only two mentions I've seen of the action, so far.
