How does the selection of Pence entered into Hillary's VP calculus, if at all?

I stand with the Honorable Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court

Justice Ginsberg is a stalwart and a national treasure. She is an impeccable jurist with a devotion social justice and a brilliant and tenacious mind. She does not give up and she has seen her efforts and positions vindicated over time.

And she was absolutely right in her criticisms of Trump and even more in the right when she refused to back down after his pathetic little tweet. He tweets, she crafts legal arguments that have advanced the rights of women, minorities and persons of the LGBT community probably more than any other individual of the past 50 years.

She was right to raise the warning flag against trump's candidacy. She knew there would be public push back and she, as always, made the reasoned decision. At the right moment she said the right thing.

Trump has already attacked the judiciary, signaling that a trump administration could be a very real threat to our function of government, our separation of powers. We've seen despots and demoguages rise to power and begin by attacking the judges. "The first thing we do, we kill all the lawyers."

Trump crosses lines regularly. He's a megalomaniac and gets a little tiny hard on from doing so. But the lines he crosses are necessary lines. We can leave nothing to chance. Everyone in a position to make the media listen should be sounding the alarms.

Kaine and Warren likely not the VP pick, who say you?

The publicly discussed short list has winnowed with Kaine saying he doesn't expect it will be him and Warren speaking early at the Convention.

Interestingly, James Stavridis has been included in the public short list. But he was clearly on Hillary's actual short list for some time.

What it tells us is that the media doesn't have the full story or the full list and it could (maybe probably will) be someone not yet discussed or reported to be vetted.

Who do you think it could be? Not your preference, but your educated guess.

Kaine says he doesn't expect to be Clinton's VP

Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) on Monday said he doesn't expect to be picked as presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton's running mate.

"I was speculated about eight years ago, and it's nice to be speculated about," he said on MSNBC's "MTP Daily."

"In my gut, eight years ago, I didn't think it was going to go that direction, and I got to say, in my gut right now, I kind of feel like I'm going to stay in the Senate."

Since Al Franken's name has come up...my favorite Franken bit

I don't see him as the VP nominee, but he would have my absolute support. Hearing his name come up last week, though, reminded me of my favorite bit, which wasn't on SNL.

When he was a host on Air America he filled (if I remember correctly) 3 hours of airtime each day. I listened to most and he was a great liberal voice. During the '08 campaign, he had on Joe the Plumber while he was a national story. Franken only asked him questions about plumbing. He kept it up, deadpan, for the entire interview. I was in stitches. He is very good a framing, incredibly quick witted and biting when needs be. He'd be great on the trail.

Anyone know how to find the Joe the Plumber interview?

Gun lovers are just going to have to give up assault rifles.

There is no justifiable reason for them to be on the street and accessible at all. Hobby, fetish and tradition are not worth the risk to our society. M

And don't even start the pedantic definition debate. I don't give a goddamn what you call it. Don't even start, that has precluded reform far too long.

Any weapon capable killing an office party before any can get out, of spraying 100 LGBT folks celebrating pride in a safe place, capable of overpowering a police force and picking off 5 and hitting 11 does not belong in the arms of any citizen. No matter how well adjusted, clean or quiet.

We are a grown up society, a country capable of changing. Change isn't always comfortable. But, just as the people got on board or got left behind thoughout the civil rights movement, women's movement and the marriage equally movement, among so many others, the people are ready. We've had enough.

Gun reform is a civil rights movement. It is a social movement. Those movements always move forward, even with set backs. Get on board.

Is it domestic disputes? Sometimes.

Is it a gun related death that shocks the public conscious? Every time.

Sorry, but I am not comfortable with local police forces using explosives on citizens

To be clear, I am not comfortable with police forces and their monopoly on violence, generally. And while I do understand and respect that their are rare instances in which deadly force may be required, it is far more often abused.

And I get that "dead is dead" and many, perhaps most, will say "why does it matter how he was killed if the killing justified?" Maybe I am unable to, at this point, articulate it properly. But, I am just not okay with domestic police forces using bombs against anyone.

Has Durr trump tweeted his racist nationalist response to the events in Dallas yet?

I'm sure he'll blame Obama, but wonder if he'll take the opportunity to angrily include African-Americans to his list of hated groups, back with reactionary impossible and regressive policy.
