I am leaning toward less emphasis on the spoken word geography notion.

I lean more toward a gestural system which possibly paralleled or was a precursor to spoken language. I make this speculation based on my knowledge of neuroanatomy and the proximity of the areas for the arms and hands to those for the lips, tongue and larynx. I think the more we gestured, made faces and even drew pictures to communicate the more the adjacent areas of the brain became engaged. I also suspect the first words were in response to pain and/or basic body actions like thoracic fixation for poopin' and having babies and could have been almost reflexive. Like when you slam a finger in a door and curse. I also believe the laugh played a part in the development of spoken words and perception of humor is regarded as a function of the frontal lobe and as a higher cognitive function. Then when these sounds began to emerge there were communication break downs that occurred this leading not only to more laughter but to attempts to correct miscommunication which lead to changes in facial expression and vocalizations which emerged as "words" from pairing sounds and actions. I believe this was not a cause effect determination but as the result of a continuous feedback loop.

I had an uncle named Napoleon, a former head of the NCDPS...

a beloved hero in our family.

When I found out I couldn't have children, and my doctor told me to "get a dog" then my husband gave me "dog money" ...I stuffed it in a special place in my purse, in case of a getadog emergency. Then I found a Pomeranian. This little fuzz ball with a head the size of an orange started off on the attack. He would run across the yard just up to the road barking like crazy. He established his reputation quickly when he became known for trying to go after the Angus bull next door on my cousin's farm. I knew what I had to do. I asked the family if anyone would be insulted if I named the dog Napoleon and they laughed at me. I really wish I had a video of that "attack" and I am grateful he lived to be fifteen years old. I miss him every day. He was my child, my student and my teacher. Fall is the time of year we visited the elementary school for fall festival. Then twenty five cents would buy you a ticket to see "The Amazing Napoleon" sing and dance. Our place was on the stage behind the pulled curtain. No shows for free, though many children peeked and that just made him more special. He had a clown costume I made for him to wear during our routine. It was made of white fabric splashed with multicolored polka dots. It had a hood with a pompom on top that I had wired so it would stay straight up like a party hat. I dressed as a fairy godmother and carried a magic wand. There was always a line of children holding their tickets, jumping up and down. Some of the same children came back again and again to see him. Napoleon might be too nice of a name for that guy. Admittedly I feel a huge divide between Little Napoleon and my Amazing Napoleon. And in this situation, I think the grownups should have to tell the children we are sorry we couldn't get them better help.

About littlemissmartypants

I read voraciously and fast with high comprehension. I love to learn and share. But I will never, ever post anything in LBN again because someone always seems to find fault with my posts. I've had too many locked for stupid reasons to ever take LBN seriously ever again. I now just trash it. Which is a shame since there are individuals who are regular posters there that I love. I just send all not truly LBN and LBN dupes to the Trash from now on. No need to even bother any hosts with those anymore. Using Ignore and Trash are proving to be much easier and better options for me than trying to engage and attempt to make LBN a better place. I'm also getting tired of this place looking like the Trump Underground. Trashing every iteration of the surname and all of the clever nicknames people have created make it virtually impossible not to see posts about the psychopath that is the Republican party's preferred presidential candidate. Oh, well. GOTV!
