Thanks so much for sharing this dweller.

One of my favorite songs...

Buffy Saint Marie
Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee

Indian legislation on the desk of a do-right congressman
Now, he don't know much about the issue
So he picks up the phone and he asks advice from
The senator out in Indian country
A darling of the energy companies who are
Ripping off what's left of the reservations
Huh

I learned a safety rule
I don't know who to thank
Don't stand between the reservation
And the corporate banks
They send in federal tanks
It isn't nice but it's reality

Bury my heart at Wounded Knee
Deep in the Earth
Cover me with pretty lies
Bury my heart at Wounded Knee
Huh

They got these energy companies that want the land
And they've got churches by the dozen who want to
Guide our hands
And sign Mother Earth over to pollution, war and greed
Get rich
Get rich quick

Bury my heart at Wounded Knee
Deep in the Earth
Cover me with pretty lies
Bury my heart at Wounded Knee

We got the federal marshals
We got the covert spies
We got the liars by the fire
We got the FBI's
They lie in court and get nailed
And still Peltier goes off to jail

Bury my heart at Wounded Knee
Deep in the Earth
Cover me with pretty lies
Bury my heart at Wounded Knee
Huh

My girlfriend Annie Mae talked about uranium
Her head was filled with bullets and her body dumped
The FBI cut off her hands
And told us she'd died of exposure
Loo, loo loo

Bury my heart at Wounded Knee
Deep in the Earth
Cover me with pretty lies
Bury my heart at Wounded Knee
Huh

We had the Gold Rush wars
Aw, didn't we learn to crawl and still our history gets
Written in a liar's scrawl
They tell ya, "Honey you can still be an Indian down at the "Y" on Saturday nights"

Bury my heart at Wounded Knee
Deep in the Earth
Cover me with pretty lies
Bury my heart at Wounded Knee
Huh

Frontline: From Jesus to Christ: The First Christians

From Jesus to Christ: The First Christians Part One
Total Run Time 1:49:43
Frontline: Season 16, Episode 4

From Jesus to Christ: The First Christians Part Two
Total Run Time 1:51:25
Season 16, Episode 5

This FRONTLINE series is an intellectual and visual guide to the new and controversial historical evidence which challenges familiar assumptions about the life of Jesus and the epic rise of Christianity.

For an overview of the series read the Synopsis. It includes links to some of the stories and material on this web site which expand the narrative.

This site is anchored by the testimony of New Testament theologians, archaeologists and historians who serve as both critics and storytellers. They address dozens of key issues, disagreements and critical problems relating to Jesus' life and the evolution of Christianity. Throughout the site, maps, charts (for example, the fortress of Masada), ancient texts (including Perpetua's diary), pictures of the archaeological discoveries, ancient imagery, and audio excerpts from the television program complement and illuminate the scholars'commentary.

A new addition to this site is the edited transcript of a two-day symposium at Harvard University. This symposium was a follow-up to the FRONTLINE broadcast and featured scholars' presentations, workshops and audience discussion.

'Could You Help Santa?' In Christmas Wishlists, Children Write Of Pandemic Hardships

'Could You Help Santa?' In Christmas Wishlists, Children Write Of Pandemic Hardships
December 20, 20208:00 AM ET

Jonah doesn't want anything for himself this Christmas. Instead, he asked Santa "to find a cure for Covid-19 and give it to us to save the world." Other children hope Santa and his elves are staying healthy. Yadhira wants help with her family's bills.

Every holiday season, children write to Santa, scribbling down which toys they want and any burning questions they may have onto letters for mailing to the North Pole. And every year, the U.S. Postal Service makes these letters available for anyone to "adopt" through its Operation Santa program in order to help make these holiday wishes come true.

In non-pandemic times, these letters reflect typical childhood desires and imaginations — lots of tech gadgets, scooters, puppies and dolls. But this year, the letters offer a unique glimpse at the psyche of children toughing it out through a crisis unlike anything they've experienced before.

Kids everywhere have had to miss out on school and friendships. Millions have seen parents lose jobs, while others have watched loved ones get sick or even die. For many of these children, holiday worries this year have extended far beyond whether they have been naughty or nice.

Secretary of Transportation Fun Fact

I heard from a report on BBC News that Pete Buttigieg enjoys the game Ticket to Ride.

Ticket to Ride is a cross-country train adventure in which players collect and play matching train cards to claim railway routes connecting cities throughout North America.

The longer the routes, the more points they earn.

Additional points come to those who can fulfill their Destination Tickets by connecting two distant cities, and to the player who builds the longest continuous railway.

2 NC members Electoral College speak out ahead of planned Monday vote

2 NC members Electoral College speak out ahead of planned Monday vote

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — One of the most anticipated days in this year’s presidential election is about to occur — the convening of the Electoral College.

In North Carolina, there are 15 electors and CBS 17 spoke with two of them, a school teacher and retired lawyer. They are both voting in state’s Electoral College for the first time. North Carolina’s electors will meet in the North Carolina House chamber in the Old Capitol Building in downtown Raleigh, casting their ballots at noon on Monday.

Snip...

CBS 17 asked Edwin Garvin II, one of those set to vote Monday, if he thought the system still works. “Yes,” he said. That’s “because the selection of the president of the United States requires a broad-based political and geographical consensus.” Since the country was founded, it’s always been that the Electoral College has been the final say in an election. CBS 17 asked Susan Mills if she thought the college’s vote will be the last word on this election, given all the legal challenges and controversy. “That’s a very difficult question,” she said. “I would like to think it’s not going to be the last word because I still would like to have President Trump be my president for another 4 years.”

CBS 17 asked Garvin if he though this Electoral College vote will stick nationally.

“Sounds like it,” he said.

North Carolina law requires electors to vote for the person who won the state and electors here can’t change their minds without having their vote disqualified and being assessed a $500 fine. Because President Trump didn’t get enough electoral votes nationally this time, Garvin believes there is no overturning the election. “In my limited understanding, it sounds like the Electoral College vote will come out as many people anticipate it,” he said. “Joe Biden will be selected as the next president by the Electoral College.” Despite so much controversy surrounding this election, both Garvin and Mills said they’ve received no adverse reaction from the public regarding their roles as electors. Although some states will be holding virtual Electoral College voting on Monday, North Carolina will continue the tradition of voting in person.

CBS 17 asked Mills if she had any pandemic concerns about meeting in a group as an elector. “I do not.” she said. “We all have risks and we have to be smart about it and do whatever we need to do to protect ourselves and fellow electors.” Naturally, the pandemic has changed the way the Electoral College will function here in North Carolina. Before the session begins, all participants will have their temperature taken. They must also socially distance and visitors will be limited.

About littlemissmartypants

I read voraciously and fast with high comprehension. I love to learn and share. But I will never, ever post anything in LBN again because someone always seems to find fault with my posts. I've had too many locked for stupid reasons to ever take LBN seriously ever again. I now just trash it. Which is a shame since there are individuals who are regular posters there that I love. I just send all not truly LBN and LBN dupes to the Trash from now on. No need to even bother any hosts with those anymore. Using Ignore and Trash are proving to be much easier and better options for me than trying to engage and attempt to make LBN a better place. I'm also getting tired of this place looking like the Trump Underground. Trashing every iteration of the surname and all of the clever nicknames people have created make it virtually impossible not to see posts about the psychopath that is the Republican party's preferred presidential candidate. Oh, well. GOTV!
