Giraffe feces seized at airport from woman who planned to make a necklace from it
U.S. Customs and Border Protection confiscated a box of giraffe feces from a woman who said she brought the excrement back from a trip to Kenya and planned to make necklaces from it.
According to a report from ABC7 in Chicago, the woman was returning to the U.S. on Sept. 29 when she was selected by CBP for inspection at the Minneapolis Saint Paul International Airport in Minnesota.
The passenger declared giraffe feces and stated she had obtained the droppings in Kenya and planned to make a necklace, CBP said in a statement. The passenger also stated in the past she had used moose feces at her home in Iowa.
The box of giraffe droppings was destroyed via steam sterilization as required by the United States Department of Agriculture destruction protocols, authorities said.

Flamingos fly to Lake Michigan! Hurricane refugees.....
There are Flamingos in Wisconsin! Yes, you read that right: Flamingos. In. Port Washington. Wisconsin.
Earlier today I got an out-of-the-blue text message (shout-out to Smitty Smith from Fire Ridge Golf Club) along with a photo confirming five (5) American flamingos at South Beach, Miami er, Port Washington, Wisconsin. Before venturing north, I relayed my findings to a birding group in hopes that someone closer could get confirmation. Seventy-five percent of the group was convinced I was leading them on a wild goose er, flamingo chase. One local took the bait and within 10 minutes we had confirmation: Wisconsins got flamingos.
I grabbed my camera and sped up to Port Washington to check them out in person. By the time my group and I arrived the parking lot was floodednot with flamingos, but with cars. The word was out, and Im pretty sure I had something to do with it. Around 50 people were present looking at the rarest bird to hit Wisconsin since the flame-colored tanager graced us with its presence this spring.
Whats a non-migratory bird that doesnt live in Wisconsin doing in Wisconsin? Everyones gut reaction is to assume its an escapee of some sort. After all, theres been a flamingo sighting in Wisconsin beforea runaway from a zoo in Kansas. However, the prevailing thought (and again, this is super new news so this might change with time and study) is that these birds are wild.

Birds look cold. The water is cold. Will they make it back to the Yucatan?
Ancient Aliens - A Mexican ufologist claims to show 2 alien corpses to Mexico's Congress
MEXICO CITY Mexico's Congress heard testimony from experts who study extraterrestrials on Tuesday.
And the hearing started with a huge surprise.
Jaime Maussan, a self-described ufologist, brought two caskets into the congressional chambers. As Maussan spoke, two men uncovered the caskets, to reveal two bodies.
The corpses looked white and like stereotypical depictions of aliens big head, little body, three fingers. Maussan said they were found in Peru in 2017 and are estimated to be 1,000 years old. One of the bodies had been pregnant, he claimed.

In a USA Today article, apparently there will be a vote in Mexico's congress to declare themselves the first "ET Truther" nation. (Really?) https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2023/09/13/mexico-alien-x-ray-claims/70843076007/

Bexar Co DA will resume prosecuting low level marijuana
Due to Death Star Bill
Joe is progressive, but the state will get rid of DAs who don't prosecute for pot. Low level theft etc.
The Bexar County District Attorneys Office is backing off its policy against prosecuting low-level drug offenses, just in time to stay on the right side of a new state law that makes it easier to remove local DAs over such policies.
Four years ago, District Attorney Joe Gonzales adopted a "declination policy" for minor drug possession cases. He said the aim was to focus on fighting violent crime and to avoid clogging the court system and the county jail with nonviolent offenders.
Under that policy, the DA's office declined to prosecute marijuana possession cases involving less than 1 ounce, unless the defendant was a danger to the community. The policy similarly required prosecutors to dismiss cases involving possession of other controlled substances if the weight was under 0.25 grams and the suspect did not pose a danger to the public.
The policy led to a steep drop in prosecutions for such offenses. Although some prosecutors and law enforcement officers criticized the policy, Gonzales defended it as a way to make the most effective use of limited resources. https://www.expressnews.com/news/article/gonzales-reconsiders-leniency-pot-arrests-18339106.php?utm_source=marketing&utm_medium=copy-url-link&utm_campaign=article-share&hash=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZXhwcmVzc25ld3MuY29tL25ld3MvYXJ0aWNsZS9nb256YWxlcy1yZWNvbnNpZGVycy1sZW5pZW5jeS1wb3QtYXJyZXN0cy0xODMzOTEwNi5waHA=&time=MTY5MzY3MDE4MzA5Nw==&rid=YWYxMmViMWYtOTEyMi00YjhmLWI1MDgtNWZkMDcwYmE2MDcz&sharecount=MQ==
Texas heat melts off iconic Buc-ee's beaver sign in viral video
Extreme heat, a struggling power grid, hurricanes, inflation and political battles at the state Capitol. Haven't Texans suffered enough this summer?
It turns out no one is immune to the effects of the never-ending heat wave that has plagued the Lone Star State for the past few months, not even our heroes.
A family visiting a Buc-ees in the city of Madisonville, about two hours by car from Houston, noticed the face of the company's iconic mascot melting off under the August sun.
Video taken of the logo shows the beaver missing a chunk of its face, leaving the sign's inner materials exposed where the animal's eye, cheeks and part of its snout should have been.

Buc-ee's responds to unofficial 'Buk-ii's' store in Matamoros, MX
BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) Buc-ees is prepared to take action against an unofficial store named Buk-iis in Matamoros.
An off-brand version of the popular store is opening as a super mercado in Matamoros. A report by KDAF, our sister station in Dallas, stated the store will sell grocery items and international beers.
Buc-ees general counsel Jeff Nadalo released a statement to ValleyCentral in reference to the store opening.
The Buc-ees brand represents clean restrooms, freshly prepared food, and great service. Buc-ees has invested heavily in innovation across the company to create and maintain these award-winning guest experiences. Accordingly, Buc-ees will not stand as an idle spectator while others use without permission the intellectual property that Buc-ees has cultivated for decades, the statement reads.
