Recommended because they made this fairly entertaining and easy to understand. Usually any financial documentary requires me to think too hard, but this one was very interesting.

Texas hospital that treated first U.S. Ebola patient settles with his family
Source: Washington Post
The hospital that treated the first Ebola patient diagnosed in the United States before he died will pay his family an unspecified amount, an attorney for his relatives announced Wednesday.
In addition, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas said it has agreed to create a foundation honoring Thomas Duncan, the Liberian man who was diagnosed with Ebola in September.
Texas Health Presbyterian also apologized again to Duncans family for the errors made during his treatment. Duncan had first gone to this hospital on Sept. 25 with a fever and told medical workers he had been in Liberia recently. Despite this, he was released and sent home, which delayed his treatment for nearly three days and meant he was around people during a period when he had symptoms and was contagious.
Duncan returned to the hospital and was isolated for two days before being diagnosed with Ebola on Sept. 30. He died eight days later, becoming the only person to die from the virus so far in the United States. The hospital had also apologized last month for the mistake it made during this period.

Glad they took prompt legal action. Due to tort reform, Texas allows only 30 days to file suit. (Apparently this is 2 years see posts below)
Doctor survives Ebola needlestick - not infected

Journal - non star member
My journal is automatically updated with my original posts, which is good.
But can I put something in my journal that is not in my original posts?
If I see a thread or article that I would like for future reference is it somehow possible to put it in my journal? Or would have to be an OP?
Thanks
Democratic ad brands GOP tea partiers 'radical terrorists'
snipped for relevance
That image is quickly replaced by the tea party's Don't Tread on Me banner.
This flag, the narrator warns us, is muy peligrosa (very dangerous).
It's the flag of the tea party Republicans. They are radical terrorists and they want to take matters into their own hands, affecting our children and families with violence and firearms on the border and in our cities.
That accusation is accompanied by photos of Texas militia members in camouflage uniforms and a worried woman holding tight to her child.

"These two flags represent friendship, liberty, opportunity and justice. This flag is very dangerous. It is the flag of the Republicans of the Tea Party. They are radical terrorists who want to take matters into their own hands, affecting our children and families with violence and firearms on the border and in our cities. This Tuesday, November 4th, is the day of the election and its the only time we can make our voice count. For our common good, Vote Democrat!"
Trick or Treat - Nature Conservancy Closes on Bracken Bat Cave!
That's because the real estate deal closed Friday, transferring the land from Galo Properties to the Nature Conservancy.
Defendants of the Bracken Cave have been working on this deal for more than a year. The effort was spearheaded by San Antonio City Councilman Ron Nirenberg, who took up the challenge to visit the cave right after he was elected in 2013.

Tea Party loses court battle over targeting to IRS
Source: USA TODAY 5:03 p.m. EDT October 23, 2014
WASHINGTON -- A federal court dismissed two lawsuits against the Internal Revenue Service Thursday, ruling that the tax agency is no longer targeting conservative tax-exempt groups for greater scrutiny.
"Unless an actual, ongoing controversy exists in this case, this court is without power to decide it," U.S. District Court Judge Reggie Walton ruled, dismissing one lawsuit brought by True the Vote, a conservative vote-monitoring organization.
True the Vote, an offshoot of the Tea Party-affiliated King Street Patriots, had its application as a social welfare group help up because the IRS suspected it was engaging in direct political election campaigning, which is forbidden under section 501(c)(4) of the tax code. IRS agents found that its web site contained "Democratic attacks and Republican/conservative response," according to confidential IRS documents obtained by USA TODAY.
Walton said the IRS has assured the public that they're no longer screening applications for tax exemptions based on its political leanings, a practice that led to the dismissal of several top IRS officials when it was disclosed by Treasury inspectors last year.

Texas Health Workers Use Tabasco to Help Train for Ebola
This is cool:
At the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where one of the units is being established, the staff has been practicing treating fake patients who have been sprayed at random with the peppery sauce as a stand-in for Ebola virus-laden fluids. Doctors and nurses practice dressing and undressing in their protective gear to avoid contamination, but if they feel the tingle of Tabasco on their skin, they know they've been contaminated.
"In a way, it gives feedback immediately," said Dr. Bruce Meyer, an executive vice president at the hospital, giving credit to the hospital's director of infection prevention, Doramarie Arocha, for the idea.

Harrington said the group will "consider all legal remedies" against the city and will consider returning to the city at a later time. He alleged city officials were discriminating against his group based on their plans to project images of late-term abortions.
"I can tell you this: we're not going to go away, this isn't the end of this," Harrington said.
