Congratulations to you and your Governor Beshear

Thank goodness has a Democratic governor at this critical time in history.
He stepped right up and said he is working for his people - Kentuckians.

And woe to those states with Republican governors who have dragged their feet and only reluctantly put out the necessary plan - usually through the federal government.

We all have regrets over how we might have done better.

At any given time, we're doing the best we can.
You're good people hurting at this time.
Be kind to yourselves, in Bradley's memory.

Remember that James will be hurting, too,

in his own way, even if that way is inappropriate.
So sorry for all three of you.

MMMMMMmmmmm good.

I like all those veggies in it. That beats cracker or bread crumbs.

You were so kind to Little-dog in her last days.

I'm sure you'll have tears as you read the words written here by DUers.

Her story struck a chord with me, for we had a Standard Dachshund, LAdy, who also liked to lie down in the road. I believe she like the warmth of the tarred area where the street was repaired.

Unfortunately, she died when hit by a car, not when she was lying down in the street, but when she was making her rounds of neighborhood garbage cans set out the evening before pick-up.

Lady was not too classy, but she was a part of our family and we were sad when she was gone.

Peace to you and yours.

Ah! I remember telling my father, when I was about 21, that I wouldn't

want to live past 59. ( The arrogance of youth. - not just that time but on other occasions as well).
I'm well past 59 now, and still believe I have a reason to live, a mission to fulfill with my family.

Happy birthday, Justin. I hope you are happy today, and have many more happy days and years.
Based on your DU posts, I believe you are a good-hearted person, and we are lucky/blessed to have you among us.

Real old-timer here. - I remember Sat. mornings before TV

We listened to the radio.
Can't remember all the shows, but one was "Let's Pretend".
Another one started off with a man intoning "Grand Central Station!"
Radio caused you to use your imagination, -- Good fun.

September will soon be over - just a few more days.

Then you can say to yourself "I got through September!" and don't have to think about that for another eleven months, or ever!"
Life is hard sometimes, life is tough. But not hopeless.

Two thoughts

1. re vacation- There's a lot to see in North America - especially the Northwest, not too far from your home. Sort of combining your idea with your father's - have you considered a volunteer "vacation" in Canada or the US? I'm thinking of something like the American Indian schools on reservations, that are often very needy and can use help due to limited funds. I don't know anything about the indigenous peoples located in western Canada, but know that there are reservations in North Dakota, Montana, etc. Your skills with computers would be something that could be taught. You would never feel guilt about giving of yourself and your time to others - it is a most worthy thing to do.
If that sounds like too much to bite off, (I was thinking of it in terms of "vacation" - going away from home) there are likely good volunteer opportunities in your home area.

2. Re counseling, etc. A good "life coach", preferably a psychologist or clinical social worker, could be useful. He could help you set goals and suggest ways to achieve them, working with him on a regular basis. When I was preparing for knee replacement surgery, I availed myself of the services of a retired psychologist I had met, and, later, when my spouse was ill, the same one was very helpful in helping me move forward in a healthy way. I think most life coaches, by definition, are more empathetic as a group than someone like the psychiatrist you referred to above.

Just some ideas to throw out, and for you to improve upon, if they're at all pertinent to your situation.

Freshly baked apple pie will do much better than air fresheners.

(I am not a contractor nor handy in any way, including baking apple pies.)
