to pick up a couple of items...no more...I've been picking up groceries curbside for a couple of months but forgot some things. Anyway, the employees are no longer wearing masks and I asked the sacker kid...he said they were no longer required and were uncomfortable...so, I'm in a red state where the case number is going up and a bit dumb founded...Mini rant over....
I got tested yesterday...
The county health department here in Sedgwick County KS set up a free testing station in the Senior/Community Center next to my Senior sixplex. I and my quite elderly neighbor lady seemed to be the only ones out of thirty or so residents who cared enough to get the swab test even though another lady resident just a few apartments down had covid 19 way back at the beginning (Feb/March), thankfully she recovered from the pneumonia caused by it and is out walking her doggy every day.
I went over and told another elderly couple here about it and they acted like I offended them, I have helped them with their tv and phone and computer set up several times (probably no more). They are both in their mid to late 70s and have numerous health issues but think Jesus is protecting them (I guess). Fundies....hmmm.
Most of the residents here and in nearby Wichita act as if the pandemic is over and I see them running in and out of this complex daily...no masks...no seeming concerns...on my trips for groceries (about every 7 to 10 days, I order online and pick them up) traffic is heavy and again, very few masks are seen...people just don't care and are foolish (imo)...the nursing home two blocks away had 50+ residents and staff infected and several deaths a couple of months back and just this week another facility 10 miles away announced that at least 14 residents and staff are currently infected...so the virus is definitely here and still growing.
The test was a bit uncomfortable but not bad. I'm a bit anxious for the results (they said 5 to 7 days) but have had no symptoms other than my usual allergies and a headache here and there so I should be good...Okay, that was my rant....
