AVG might be the reason(?) I can't install my Download Accelerator Plus (Speedbit)

Both are free versions but extremely helpful in maintaining a clean/lean computer. I've contacted both companies and so far the only suggestion has been to temporarily disable AVG so the DAP setup would run. When I did so, DAP would install only 6% of the program (as opposed to the earlier 13%) before stopping.

Recently re-installed Windows 7 for a fresh start; I added DAP to that firewall exception list in addition to the AVG and even temporarily disabled it in addition to the AVG with no improvement. Still can't complete installation of DAP. These are two programs I'm too fond of to do w/o.

Here's how the error message goes:

support@speedbit.com t downloads fine, but when I try to install it, I get this error list:

Other programs on the machine include IE10 (w/win7 update1 pack), Chrome (my preferred browser), IOBIT malware, ThreatFire behavioral antivirus, AdFender, and Revo Uninstaller. They played fine with everything else on my previous and original Windows 7 installation. I downloaded the FF setup but won't even try to install that unless the other two browsers fail.

Another problem with AVG now is that I can't get it to give me a search window, which I prefer for it's protection value.

Is there any chance I might've set my windows internet to such a high security level that it interferes with non-internet things like software installation? I'm grasping at straws here! My computer's hard drive is indeed cleaned up remarkably, but what use is that if I can't reinstall new versions of my favorite earlier programs? DAP is one of the best I've ever found.

So then

Perhaps he'd disapprove of Jesus' holy work on the Sabbath as well? Jesus was (still is, I'm sure) quite a radical, and that always means breaking someone's rules. He even spoke directly to the Samaritan woman at the well, verboten in that culture, and also gave her a divine revelation. Man's rules are not always the same as God's. Sometimes the latter requires us to violate the former.

All I know is

Supposedly, Mother Theresa told JPII that women should be allowed to be priests because we'd make the best ones.

Vitter and others like him,

for instance Arpaio, don't think immigrants have any human rights. Arpaio has been known to send officers out to scoop up unattended little brown kids with no ID on their way to school and then dump them in Mexico w/o so much as notifying the parents. Imagine the terror! I mean, how many little kids should have to carry around proof of citizenship? I never heard of Arpaio doing that to caucasian kids - just brown ones.

If we are to come to Christ as little children

Then why should little children themselves be denied full communion? When the seed falls on infertile soil, it may not grow; but many children worship as deeply if not more so than some adults, and it would be sad to see them denied this blessing at such an impressionable age. Didn't the church used to say, give us a child until the age of eight and then he's ours forever?

He needs prayer

and a better education also. When people say such awful things, especially stupid things about gays not liking sports or rough-and-tumble play, I think of plenty of examples to the contrary and wish I could introduce him to them. HE wouldn't like going up against a few ballplayers I could name, for instance.

Well, I followed Will Rogers' advice as given in your signature.

Congratulations to you as well on surviving your Aunt Betty. We all have people like that in our family tree; sometimes a whole tribe of them.

I think one early event was pivotal in innoculating me against fundamentalist interpretations of the Bible or much of anything else, for that matter. Somewhere in Joshua, he's supposedly instructed to kill all the horses because their use in war would undermine absolute faith in God's ability to win the day. That's a cockamamie notion in the first place, and I have no intention of blaming the Almighty for it. But worse, the book claims that God said to hamstring the horses - surely one of the cruelest ways to dispose of them. Not on my dumbest day was I about to swallow that, not even at 5 years old. So of course it got my radar up for other possible contradictions.

When I first moved here, I was so lonesome that I made the mistake of accepting an invitation to a home bible study. Didn't go too well. They were not fond of my offering 'alternate interpretations', because of course they worshipped their beliefs rather than God. Finally one evening a particular woman started an anti-Obama screed; I stood up, slapped my hands down hard on the table, and read her the riot act, starting off with "Cork it, sister!" I suppose that's one reason people call me difficult. I question and disagree with them and don't put up with much ragging on the President.

Wait...

The system says the poor are poor because they have poor ways, and anyone in America has an equal chance at higher education and professional success if they apply themselves. You can be anything you want to be!

Do you really suppose Mr. Carlin was (gulp) right?

This afternoon

I caught the last part of the movie 'Gangs of New York' where one fat cat intones, "We can always pay one half of the poor to kill the other half."

Even with that attitude still so prevalent today, in most elitist circles and among their hangers-on wannabes, you will still be excorciated for saying openly that class warfare does exist, that it's always been the practice of the upper tier to squash those beneath them and that the bottom half has the right, indeed the duty to fight for their cause. Too radical for the uppa crust to tolerate and far too dangerous to their parasite existence. They try to shame us for resenting their suppression, and the conservative poor kiss their feet for a crust of bread.

Their day's coming, though. I see a bad moon rising...

About IrishAyes

Still an ardent Irish-American Catholic damnYankee Yellow Dog Democrat socialist after all these years. (cue Simon music) Army brat and wife for many years, now have been on the loose far longer than I was married. After my two red chows died, I took in a mini-beagle cross that I named Molly Maguire, thinking she might need a good Irish name like my original real one. Later she got a baby sister, a smooth-coat JRT I named Brigid after the greatest of the ancient Celtic goddesses. My great-grandfather and his son fought for Michael Collins and barely made it out of Ireland one step ahead of John Bull. They slipped over to Wales for new identities and then forward to the States for a fresh start. That makes me second generation of illegal but certainly justified immigrants. There are precious few people to whose defense I fly immediately, but the list includes Hillary Clinton, President Barack Obama even when I disagree with him - it happens! - and living Irish patriots Gerry Adams and Martin \\\'Mind Your Kneecaps\\\' McGuiness. I pray earnestly for a united and free Ireland rescued from all official British occupation, with every square inch of alleged \\\'ancestral lands\\\' now held immorally and illegally by the invaders returned to the rightful owners. Irish-only rule for Ireland. No foreign masters anymore! I find it passing strange when Brits chide ME about \'interfering\' in Irish politics!
