Protests grow in Poland as political crisis deepens

The political fighting over media access and the budget vote is the latest controversy to hit the Polish government. Since coming into power a little more than a year ago, the socially conservative Law and Justice government has launched root-and-branch overhauls of the country's highest court, publically run media, the armed forces and the civil service in a campaign it claims is necessary to modernize the institutions and rid them of bias and corruption.

The protests in Warsaw came after the government's plan to limit media access to lawmakers.

But to its critics, the campaign's real goal is to undermine the basic principles of democracy and try to turn the Central European country into a one-party state once again. The policies have also deepened and widened a bitter political divide in Poland that, at the moment, appears beyond any hope of reconciliation.

The Polish government is also under scrutiny by the European Union for alleged violations of rule of law, while at the same time Poland's hard-won international reputation as a successful and stable state with a buoyant economy has taken a battering.
Protesters have vowed to take to the streets again to keep the pressure on the government.

"We will be on the streets until they are done destroying the country," Mateusz Kijowski, the leader of the Committee for the Defense of Democracy -- the movement that has spearheaded protests since Law and Justice came to power -- told demonstrators Saturday.

Son's broken arm: Bill Huizenga says people must be responsible for own health care costs

While the Affordable Care Act put in place under President Obama is credited with giving 20 million Americans health insurance, it has been criticized for driving up insurance rates and adding regulations that interfere with the doctor-patient relationship.

<snip>

"There's definitely going to be changes in the health care delivery system," said U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga, R-Zeeland. "We can't just continue to squeeze providers to say this is how we are going to save money. It's forcing health care providers ... into some very different actions that in most people's opinion is unhealthy."

Instead, Huizenga says more responsibility needs to shift to the shoulders of patients to reduce costs. One way to do that is having them pay a bigger share of their medical expenses by increasing their insurance deductibles and incentivizing them to use HSAs, health savings accounts, to sock away pre-tax money to pay medical bills.

<snip>

The father of five offered a personal example of how this shift might play out. He says his youngest son fell and injured his arm. Not sure if it was sprained or broken, he and his wife decided to wait until the next morning to take the 10-year-old to the doctor's office, instead of going to the emergency room that night. The arm was broken.

"We took every precaution but decided to go in the next morning (because of) the cost difference," Huizenga said. "If he had been more seriously injured, we would have taken him in. ... When it (comes to) those type of things, do you keep your child home from school and take him the next morning to the doctor because of a cold or a flu, versus take him into the emergency room? If you don't have a cost difference, you'll make different decisions."

I understand Gen. Flynn and his son run a Child Sex Ring in Washington DC.

I don't have any links at the moment but I hear this is what they're up to. I can only assume they started "Pizzagate" to draw attention away from them.

What a couple of sick fucks.

Who is Most Evil?

I love how a country as imperialistic as the United States gets to decide who's an evil fuck and who isn't. So let's play "Who's Most Evil?"

Have at it!

UPDATE: Make America Great Again Billboard Features Bloody Sunday

PEARL, Miss. (WJTV) — A controversial billboard Highway 80 in Pearl is getting a lot of attention.

The billboard appears to depict a moment from the civil rights era and has the words “Make America Great Again” on it.

It’s placed on a Lamar Advertising billboard. The display says that the signage was paid for by For Freedoms. It also says the billboard was not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee.

The original photo dates back to 1965, to a day known as “Bloody Sunday,” according to PRNewswire. Police and protesters faced off over voting rights in Selma, Alabama.

According to For Freedoms’ website, they use art to inspire deeper political engagement for citizens who want to have a greater impact on the American political landscape.

<snip>

Governor Phil Bryant has seen the billboard and calls it reprehensible according to Mississippi News Now.

“It’s disappointing that this group would use this image as an attempt to divide the country,” said Bryant.

Pearl Mayor Brad Rogers also told MNN the the billboard doesn’t violate any laws or city ordinances and that since it’s “not vulgar” it is protected by freedom of speech.

UPDATE: I have come to believe this billboard was put up in protest as opposed to being racist. Check out For Freedom's site. They're artists.

Dont let Donald Trumps antics distract you from whats really important

He’s paying fraud fines and collecting bribes — and distracting you with Hamilton tweets

Here are a few news stories that broke between the time I left work a little early on Friday afternoon and the time my toddler went down for his midday nap on Saturday:

<snip>

Donald Trump paid $21 million to former students of his fake university who he allegedly defrauded.

Donald Trump got into a Twitter war with the cast of Hamilton.

The Hamilton blow-up — because it’s easy to understand, bizarre, and connects with a pop culture phenomenon — has naturally ended up getting the bulk of the news pickup. One potential reason is that Trump’s tweets are public, whereas it took diligent reporting by the Washington Post to get the hotel story. The idea is that other prestigious outlets may be disinclined to pay attention to a story the Post “owns” and to give due credit to its significance.

Meanwhile, a second-order controversy even broke out among the people I follow on Twitter as to whether the Hamilton audience booing Mike Pence in some sense played into Trump’s hands.

But the truth is that nothing about the Hamilton story — not Pence’s decision to attend, not the crowd booing him, not the cast of the musical directing some respectful criticism in the direction of I his boss, not Trump’s tweets about what happened, and not the subsequent second-order controversy — is in any way important to how he runs the country.

By contrast, foreign governments directly putting money into Donald Trump’s pocket is very important. The fact that these attempted bribes are being paid to a man who is also paying out millions of dollars to avoid standing trial for his corrupt business practices is very important. The fact that citizens are calling members of congress to ask them to do something about this is also very important.

Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch NYC Memorial Park Defaced With Swastikas, Pro-Donald Trump Graffiti

Since Donald Trump's election last week, there has been an uptick in the amount of "biased-based attacks" across the nation. One of the latest victims is the the New York City memorial park in honor of the late Beastie Boys member Adam Yauch.

The Adam Yauch Park in Brooklyn Heights was defaced with graffiti of swastikas and the words "Go Trump" on Friday (Nov. 18). Yauch, like the rest of his Beastie Boys bandmates, was Jewish.

Go back to India b*tch: Seattle councilwoman threatened for encouraging Trump protest

SEATTLE– A Seattle city councilwoman who called on protesters to “shutdown” Donald Trump’s inauguration has since received hundreds of angry emails and phone calls, some telling her to kill herself, her office said.

<snip>

“Join me, I appeal to you, today at 4 p.m. at Westlake (Park),” Sawant told a crowd. “Let’s have a massive protest and tell America we do not accept a racist agenda and let’s make sure that on Inauguration Day, on the 20th and 21st of January, let’s do a nationwide shutdown and occupy inauguration.”

<snip>

“A (Sawant) staffer was told on phone: 'I will come and tattoo a swastika on your head and on that bitch’s head,'” Council spokesperson Dana Robinson Slote told Q13 News in an email.

The office was also inundated with emails.

“Go back to India bitch,” one email read. “I am tired of being shamed because I’m a white male. You automatically think I’m a racist. How about you go the (expletive) back to India or wherever you came from?”

Another email accused Sawant of enticing a riot.

“We didn’t riot with Obama was elected,” the email reads. “Ever stop to think we see (Obama) as a racist? But we carried on and lived to fight another day. Stop being such a cry baby bitch and go hang yourself.”

Man who wants rape legalising is delighted with Donald Trumps win

Remember this guy, who lives at home with mom?

Man who wants rape legalising is delighted with Donald Trump’s win

Remember Roosh V, the absolute helmet who called for the legalisation of rape and sparked massive protests?
Well, he’s back – with some interesting comments about the brand new president-elect.

The guy has some pretty horrendous views about women, so you won’t be surprised to hear that he’s a fan of Donald Trump.
The future president’s campaign was, of course, marred by scandal when an old tape emerged of him claiming he could ‘grab women by the pussy’.

While millions of people were disgusted, Roosh was delighted because, as he wrote in a blog, ‘if the president can say it then you can say it’.

Donald Trump's team 'discussing plans for Muslim registration system'

Break out those felt crescent moon lapel badges!!!

We have new scapegoat for all of the nation's problems!

Donald Trump's team 'discussing plans for Muslim registration system'
Immigration hardliner says plans underway for programme to force Muslims register on database

Donald Trump’s policy advisers are discussing plans to establish a registry for Muslim immigrants in the US, a man believed to be a key member of the President-elect's transition team has revealed.

Kris Kobach, the secretary of state for Kansas, said the President-elect’s advisers were looking at how to implement a proposal suggested by the billionaire businessman that would force immigrants from Muslim countries to register on a database.

Mr Kobach, who helped devise tough immigration laws in a number of US states and claims to have participated in regular conference calls with Mr Trump’s immigration advisers, also said the Trump administration could push ahead rapidly on construction of a US-Mexico border wall without seeking immediate congressional approval.

<snip>

The Muslim registration scheme, which would reportedly see Muslims given a form of identification that notes their religion, reflects policies Mr Trump put forward during his campaign to introduce “extreme vetting” of Muslims through tougher security measures.

Such a programme would echo a registration system created under Mr Bush’s presidency, which Mr Kobach also helped design, and which required thousands of Arab and Muslim visitors and temporary US residents to register with the state, but was abandoned in 2011 after it was criticised for unfairly targeting immigrants from Muslim-majority nations.
