In a baffling turn of events, the Donald Trump-appointed federal judge overseeing his Mar-a-Lago classified documents debacle appears to have placed the case on warp speed—setting a trial just two months away.
On Monday morning, federal court records showed that U.S. District Judge Aileen M. Cannon created what's referred to as a “rocket docket” to speed his trial through the system.
Cannon issued an order stating that the most historic criminal trial in American history will commence Aug. 14. That’s just 55 days away, while most federal trials take up to a year or more as both sides prepare for an epic showdown in court.
Peter Carr, a spokesman for Department of Justice special counsel Jack Smith, could not confirm that this decision was correct, and not simply a typo. Trump’s defense lawyers did not immediately respond to questions.

Disney Gets a Big Win In Battle With DeSantis
DeSantis picked Disney because the company called him out, but also because it seemed like an easy target. He wanted to make the company an example by showing that if any business takes a stand on gay rights, diversity, or inclusion issues, Florida's governor would make them pay.
He calls it a "war on woke," but it's really a branding campaign where the governor wants to build his brand by contrasting himself with high-profile targets that support values the governor disagrees with.
The goal, of course, is to make DeSantis more popular at the expense of Disney's reputation. A new poll, however, makes it clear that those efforts have backfired.
"Over the last year, views of Disney have remained steady, as nearly two in three Americans (63%) express favorable views. By contrast, views of DeSantis (32% favorable) have declined substantially since November: he is now 16 points underwater with Americans overall (down from net +2 favorable in November) and has seen double-digit declines in favorability across party lines," the website reported.
Those changes are not just Democrats and Independents losing faith in the Florida Governor, his standing has also fallen by an even greater amount with Republicans.
"Views of DeSantis have declined net 17 points among Democrats, 18 points among independents, and 19 points among Republicans," the poll showed.

I finished watching it last night. It's an eye-opening glimpse into the world of religious fundamentalism and the threats it poses on not only our society, but the entire world. Fueled by home schooling fanatics supplying brainwashed kids into the new 'Joshua Generation', their long term goals are to infiltrate our government and impose their fanaticism on the rest of us.
They already have Amy Coney Barrett inflicting damage with a lifetime appointment on the Supreme Court. I suspect Judge Aileen Cannon may also be one of these people.
While I wasn't home schooled when I grew up in the '50's and '60's, I was indoctrinated in a strict, parochial evangelical school up to the eighth grade. The crap they forced on us in our most vulnerable years is nothing compared to the brainwashing and outright abuse these modern day home schooled kids are subjected to.
Trump lawyers quit classified documents case
Two lawyers who represented Donald Trump in the months before the former president was indicted on federal charges over his handling of classified documents quit working for him Friday morning.
The attorneys, Jim Trusty and John Rowley, did not explain in detail why they had resigned, other than to say that “this is a logical moment” to do given his indictment Thursday in U.S. District Court in Miami.
Trump first announced the lawyers were no longer representing him in a post on his Truth Social social media post.
Trump said he would now be represented by Todd Blanche, a New York lawyer who already was representing him in another criminal case in Manhattan Supreme Court. Trump is charged in the state grand jury indictment there with falsifying business records related to a hush money payment to porn Stormy Daniels shortly before the 2016 presidential election.

On Thursday afternoon, House Oversight Committee Republicans told reporters after reviewing a FBI’s informant file that an FBI informant claimed to possess two pieces of evidence that show Joe Biden received $5 million after threatening to withhold aid to Ukraine until a prosecutor probing the Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings was fired.

Russian labour shortage laid bare as unemployment drops to record low
Russia's unemployment rate dropped to a record low 3.3% in April, data showed on Wednesday, highlighting the labour shortage that is stifling economic growth, while other indicators painted a mixed picture.
Russia was hit with a barrage of Western sanctions as it invaded Ukraine in February last year, ultimately leading to a 2.1% gross domestic product contraction in 2022, a better-than-expected decline touted by Moscow as evidence of its economic resilience.
Month-on-month data was not so forgiving. Retail sales, a key gauge of consumer demand, fell 0.1% compared with March and industrial output dropped 5.0%. Excluding seasonal factors, economic growth slowed to 0.2% in April, the ministry said.
Meanwhile, first-quarter corporate profits slumped 22.3% year-on-year and capital investment stood at just 0.7%, down from 13.8% in the same quarter a year ago.
One major issue is the labour market, which the central bank has repeatedly warned poses inflationary risks, even as government officials have presented high employment to the people as a mark of economic health. The shortage of workers, combined with a weak rouble and general uncertainty, is one of the main factors holding Russia back from industrial growth, according to Sergei Tsukhlo, an economist at Russia's Gaidar Institute.
He said Russian industry was experiencing its highest level of staff shortages since 1996.
Russia's market has changed drastically since the sanctions war began, Tsukhlo said, with mass-market and expensive brands alike leaving the country.
