'Horsesh*t': Lucas Kunce Slams 'Bush Toady' Ben Domenech

Ben Domenech should know better than to mess with an ex-Marine.

By John Amato — July 31, 2022
Blue America endorsed Lucas Kunce last week to be the Democratic nominee for the Senate in MO, and I have to say he is an impressive candidate.

Kunce is also an ex-Marine who has battled the effects of toxic burn pit chemicals from his time in the Middle East and like Jon Stewart, was appalled when Republicans turned their backs on the much-needed legislation to help veterans suffering the effects of toxic burn pits.

Kunce then took the fight to right-wing supporters by penning an op-ed on Fox News.com: "I was exposed to toxic burn pits in Iraq; Republicans turned their backs on veterans like me"

Canceling planned strike, Boeing workers to vote on revised contract offer

By David Shepardson

WASHINGTON, July 30 (Reuters) - A union representing nearly 2,500 employees at three Boeing Co (BA.N) defense locations in the St. Louis area said on Saturday they will vote on the company's revised contract offer, canceling a strike that was set to start Monday.

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) said an overnight bargaining session had led to the new Boeing offer and workers will vote Wednesday on whether to accept it.

Under the new contract offer, employees can opt to receive an $8,000 lump sum payment -- minus tax withholdings -- upon ratification or can choose to have the entire amount deposited in a 401(k) plan. The company is dropping its revised 401(k) match proposal.

Your Freudian Slip Of The Day, Sponsored By Scott Walker

Scott Walker tweeted the quiet part out loud.

By Chris capper Liebenthal — July 30, 2022
When Mandela Barnes became the presumptive Democratic nominee for the US Senate to take on Ron Johnson, everyone in the state was in a state of shock.

When the Democrats has absorbed the news, there was a statewide celebration. But as the Republicans absorbed the news - or tried to - their instincts were very much different.

Case in point is Scott Walker. When the news first broke, Walker went on Twitter and tweeted on the behalf of most Republicans, but tweeting the quiet part out loud:

Michigan GOP governor candidates oppose shutting down 'dangerous' Great Lakes oil pipeline

By Adrian Cole -July 29, 2022 1:59 PM

Removing Line 5 would protect Lake Michigan from a potentially disastrous oil spill and would 'have no noticeable impact to consumers,' according to one study.

Line 5 is a 645-mile pipeline that runs from Superior, Wisconsin, to Sarnia, Ontario, transiting the Great Lakes region through the Straits of Mackinac, which separates Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. Here, its single 30-inch diameter pipe splits into two 20-inch pipes which rest on the lakebed under 100 to 270 feet of freshwater.

The underwater pipeline, which was constructed in 1953 with a projected 50-year lifespan, is owned by the Canadian company Enbridge, Inc. Every day, Line 5 carries 540,000 barrels of light crude across 400 rivers and streams and alongside 10 miles of wetlands.

The Michigan League of Conservation Voters says the 60-year-old Line 5 pipeline is damaged beyond repair. In 2010, a tugboat anchor struck one of the pipes in multiple places. Over the years, the anchors securing the pipeline to the lakebed have failed, allowing it to rise and move in the strong currents.

Air Force grounds F-35As as ejection seat issue threatens fighter jets worldwide

By Rachel S. Cohen
Jul 29, 02:51 PM

The Air Force’s F-35A Lightning II fleet is the latest to stand down amid concerns about defective ejection seat parts on a wide range of military aircraft at home and abroad.

Air Combat Command grounded the advanced fighters Friday in order to speed up inspections of ejection seat cartridges, the part that explodes to propel an aviator out of the cockpit and prompts their parachute to open.

Inspections began July 19, nearly a week before the Navy said it began shipping replacement parts to its own maintenance centers with planes affected by the problem. It’s unclear when the military first learned of the defective cartridges.

The Fed Is Making A Mistake With Rate Hikes

"Rate hikes will force millions of Americans into joblessness and make families poorer," said economist Robert Reich. "It's the last thing we need right now."

By Common Dreams — July 29, 2022

The U.S. Federal Reserve is on the verge of causing a disastrous surge in unemployment, progressives said Wednesday after the nation's central bank raised interest rates for the second consecutive month—doubling down on its dogmatic quest to reduce prices even as slowing wage growth offers more evidence that inflation is being driven by corporate profiteering and supply chain issues rather than excess demand.

"Rate hikes will force millions of Americans into joblessness and make families poorer," University of California, Berkeley public policy professor Robert Reich wrote on social media after the Fed once again increased its benchmark policy rate by 75 basis points. "It's the last thing we need right now."

"Every time over the last half-century the Fed has raised interest rates this much and this quickly, it has caused a recession," Reich continued.

Justices worry about the future of the Supreme Court -- and point fingers as to who's to blame

By Ariane de Vogue, CNN Supreme Court Reporter

Updated 9:44 AM ET, Fri July 29, 2022

CNN)Limping away from one of the most significant terms in decades, justices are sending out flares expressing concern not only for the future of the Supreme Court but the country as a whole as institutional norms dissolve, tensions rise, and the court pivots right with the addition of three new members.

The justices are mostly on their summer recess now, having left behind a trail of bitter conservative-liberal splits on issues that will reshape how Americans live their lives when it comes to reproductive health, religious liberty, the environment and gun rights.

In those opinions and in public comments, members on both sides of the ideological divide are expressing reservations not about their ability to interact civilly -- but about the court itself and its future.

On Thursday, Barrett suggested that the justices will continue to strive for civility. "It's like a marriage, we have life tenure so we get along and that means you are not going to rupture relationships with people that you are going to be spending your careers with," she said.

NO Amy..... can I call you Amy.....when someone sits in a chair and tells the senators and the American public that they will adhere to precedents.......and then turn right around once they get to sit on bench and overturn rights......that calls for a fucking divorce....
