I no longer look forward to going on DU.

I thought I'd found a cool spot where folks gathered with like-minded caring liberal attitudes. It helped me keep on top of what was really going on in the 2012 election.
But since this primary has gone into high gear, I just see a lot of childish, senseless, personally harmful and bullying posts—from both sides.
I.E.: fellow DU'rs being banned and others celebrating it. Lord, I wouldn't be surprised if someone celebrated the death of a member they disagreed with.
I now try to only stop by to read the latest headlines, but I occasionally get sucked into some of the primary BS—just in the past 2 weeks my list of banned people has gone from one to a dozen.
Sad.
Maybe this post will get me into trouble for talking bad about DU, but it's the god damned truth.

Back to the Future: October 21, 2015...

"Back to the Future" Day has finally arrived.

In "Back to the Future Part II," Marty McFly travels to October 21, 2015, to save his children, yet to be born in "Back to the Future's" 1985.

The plot gets tangled -- by fixing one thing, McFly and Doc Brown (and the villainous Biff Tannen) create a number of new messes -- but what remains is the film's vision of a year that was still more than a quarter-century away when the movie was shot and released in 1989. The entire trilogy is even being rereleased Wednesday, so you can see for yourself.

The film's record isn't bad, given that director Robert Zemeckis wasn't pleased with setting part of "Back to the Future II" in 2015.

Lots of power outages during an extreme October heat wave in Southern California today...

and it sux.
We didn't experience any of the power outages (although we did during an early September heat wave).
The heat in So. Cal this year has been nuts. Absolutely nuts. We've been having 7 days of high heat, 2 days of warm weather, then 7 more days of high heat, etc. It's been going on like this for the past 2 months.
It's almost midnight now, I live near the ocean and it's 76—in October!

Rain in Southern California...

We may (actually, probably) get some rain Sunday and Monday. Mostly showers. Nothing too heavy.

This is very good news, because next weekend, the temps are predicted to go up to 90+ at the coast; and our "Santa Ana" winds just may make themselves seen for the first time this season.
Santa Ana winds are hot, high speed, dry winds that blow (day and night) at this time of the season for 2-3 days; they can wreak have with brush fires; and with the drought we've been living with for past years, the dry brush and wind could possibly be a horrible combination.

I hope the rain system that moves through Sunday-Monday, dumps enough moisture on the dry brush and dampens any fire hazards for the coming weekend.

Just had an argument on FaceBook with a rightwing gun person...

I don't mean to be insulting to any DU'rs here—this is about the extreme right wing gun folks;
After I argue with these right wing gun obsessed people, I feel like I need to jump in the shower so I don't catch something.
There's just something creepy about their approach to the subject. It's almost like I'm talking to a hollow head.

A London man is lucky he didn't lose his leg after he was bitten by a venomous spider, resulting in an injury he described as "something from a horror film."

Jonathan Hogg told U.K. media he was bitten by the spider, believed to be a brown recluse, on an international Qatar Airways flight over the summer.

"The pain was like nothing I've been through in my life. By the time I got to hospital my leg was bursting open, there was pus, it was black," Hogg told reporters.
